Good stuff, Andy.
Don't really have much time to write, so gonna be quick. I agree with your Baltimore lean(play?). At first, I was leaning Houston to keep it close on defense alone, and I'm not too big a fan of Baltimore period, but they are a much better home team, had the bye to rest up, and a 3rd string QB with a small handful of starts going against this defense that had a couple weeks to gameplan.....this could be a 31-7 grind game. Waiting on the small chance this clicks to -7.
I'm gonna be against you on the NO-SF game. One of my locals who shades favorites higher just showed +4.5 and I bit on the Niners. I just think NO is rolling along a little too good right now(gotta be 10 straight wins since they lost to the Rams), and might be surprised early at the intensity SF is gonna bring. Don't mean to be Captain Obvious, but the Saints aren't nearly as lethal outdoors on the road, and I just think the home team catching those kind of points off a bye is too nice to pass up. I was thinking NO off the bat, but changed my mind as the week went on.
The other two games I've been teetering back and forth on, as well. Tough fucking week! Last couple of playoffs I knew who I was betting early in the week, was confident, had no reason to second guess, and killed it both years. Last week I took a bath, but I don't feel too bad about it. Hit Houston easy, lost Atlanta badly. Then NO was on the right side but was so afraid of a backgoor laying 11 that I outsmarted myself and took first half and lost. The Pitt game I was not confident in Pitt(teased them with the over because I didnt think they would cover 8.5), and Denver covered so while my wager lost, I was kind of on the right track in my capping process. I just couldn't back Denver and let my emotions for thinking they are a joke and wanting them of the playoffs cloud my wagering.
But this week. Jesus, these are some tough games. While I am fairly confident in SF and Baltimore, I wouldn't be surprised in a SECOND if NO routed and Houston's defense smothered Flacco and kept that game close.
Giants-GB, I can't really make a decision. At first, I loved the Giants getting 9. They really have turned it up the last few weeks and last week was impressive. They made Matt Ryan look foolish. But man all this hype(I'm from Jersey) is starting to scare me. And you know me, I don't pay attention to media BS and I certainly don't make wagers on bullshit like "fading the public," but all this hype is scary. Especially public underdog hype! All I see is how "easy" it is to shut down GB's offense by following the KC blueprint and it is laughable. Because GB having a bad game when at 14-0 after they locked up HFA constitutes "figuring them out." Then you got the team dedicating the game to the OC for his son passing away, Rodgers possibly playing with a major chip on his shoulder from the lack of disrespect by the media(everyone seems to think the Giants romp). The Giants players keep flapping their gums foolishly. Suddenly the new thing is how awful Green Bay's D is(something the smarter people knew 14 weeks ago), yet it is an afterthought how they lead the league in takeaways. Ahh, IDK, as much as laying 7+ scares me, I think GB is the play here.
Originally liked NE - whatever. Then as week went by I kept looking at their last matchup and thinking that Denver did play pretty decent until some terrrible turnovers swayed the game to New England's favor. Then I shifted to a NE ass plunging. Then I thought Denver could run well, play the opposite of how they played Pitt, grind out the clock against a team they can actually run on and keep the ball out of Brady's hands and keep it respectable. Now reading your writeup, you are almost swaying me back to NE. Tough tough game. I see -13.5 with one local and +14.5 with the other. Either way I could make a case and both would have zero confidence. If it wasn't the playoffs, I would avoid this game and make believe it didn't exist. I can't stand Tebow and it boggles my mind why the entire world is obsessed with this guy. Actually I shouldn't say I can't stand Tebow. He seems to be a great person and a great role model to look up to in the age of greedy superstar selfish assholes, but the whole religion thing is just too much, I think he is a total person for not fucking girls, and it annoys me that in tbis great sport everyone from Casual water cooler guy at work to every NFL analyst don't stop talking about him. Fuck, I hate myself for dedicating a few sentences on his bullshit. Go away already, Tebow!
Sorry for the rambling post, but don't have any of my notes in front of me, I am stoned out of my mind, I am knee deep in a personal dilemma to where I started this post at 7:30pm and am now finishing this at 12:51am because of all the interruptions, etc etc etc. Either way, best of luck and stay hot because you deserve a strong finish after such a rough season. Bang em out good, learn a lesson or two(I'm watching the NFL morph right before my eyes and you aren't the only one having to make a lot of adjustments to this new game), finish this season strong, and let's do it all over in 2012!
