I went with NE -6.5(bought hook) and Giants ML +115. Don't really have time to go into detail, so I'm gonna copy and paste something I posted yesterday in another thread. It's a bit of a rant and I was all over the place as the context of the thread was a little different than just capping the game(had something to do with some sportswriters or something), but you get the gist of why I made these wagers.
I really hadn't looked at that game the Giants and Niners played earlier too much as both teams were different and both had guys banged up but you do make some good points there.
The Giants had 5 drives of at least 70 yards in that game (4 of which went at least 10 plays) and down two scores in the 4th they drove 80 yards for a score, forced a quick punt then went 70 yards more for the tying score but had the ball batted down on 4th down inside the 10. I believe they had a timeout on that play but rushed the play instead. It really was a tossup game. I think the Giants have improved more though since then and there's no doubt that was a bad spot for them. Gore was injured which was big but everyone else ran for 5.5 yards per rush. The Giants also lost Micheal Boley at halftime. SF had 9 points in the 1st half and 18 in the 2nd half.
Hopefully this grounds crew knows how to take care of the field and we don't see a true slopfest. The game should be decided on the field, not because of it.

That crowd was actually pretty intense yesterday and that is coming from many former players that have experienced some of the best crowds ever. I watched the rematch of the first game tonight at the bar with my wife (she was very pleased to spend her Saturday night like that). The Niners were very close to having two other additional picks...missed by inches....they were far from perfect. They were without gore (essentially) and Snyder. They gift wrapped the Giants an interception in the redzone when Ted Ginna head-butted it off his helmut into the Giant defenders hands. So, I don't know how you can say they were perfect. There are many other errors I am not mentioning.
As far as the field is concerned, it remains to be seen if and how badly it will be impacted by rain. What I will say, is that I think if it is a sloppy field, it hurts the GIANTS far more than it hurts the Niners; particularly their pass rush and WR's. You can feel free to disagree with me on that one, but many coaches and former players feel the same. The Giants key to success on Defense is their pass rush and a sloppy field will substainally hurt their speed on that rush.
Finally, I am so tired of hearing about the Giants "ROLLING." They have won 4 games in a row, as have the Niners. The Pats have won 8 in a row and you hear nothing about them. Niners have been ROLLING all year.
I'm starting to feel pretty sure the Giants are about to get fucking stomped tomorrow. We will see very soon...
I think people feel that way because of how they have won. Their defense and offense are both playing lights out football right now and they have just smacked 4 good teams that finished at least .500 in the mouth winning by margins of 15, 17, 22, and 17 points all in must win games.
In the playoffs they shit on a Falcons team that was supposed to run all over them (kinda like SF is supposed to) by limiting them to 64 yards on 21 carries for 3.05 per. Then they went into GB and had to face one of the best QB's ever and they had him completely rattled. He was dancing in the pocket all night and missing throws and taking off running. Saw an interesting piece yesterday that said Rodgers was looking at the line and not over it. These guys were in his head and he was rattled, and that's the first time I've ever seen it with Rodgers.
This team is firing on all cylinders.

BTW Glyde I completely agree with you on these analyst guys. I'm sitting there in disbelief half the time that some of these clowns have played or coached 10+ years in the league. They are almost completely clueless when it comes to the situational angle. Eric Mangini was obviously pretty darn bad at breaking down film as a coach so why the heck is he doing it every week on ESPN? Jerry Rice was the greatest football player to ever play but it is downright uncomfortable watching him on the air.

Have changed my mind on Pat-Ravens about 20 times, but what ultimately made me pull the trigger on the Ravens is the fact that the line on 5dimes pre-Divisional Round was Pats -3.5. Just too much value to pass up at +7.

Keep fading Jimmy Harbaugh and the Niners. People keep forgetting that it was the Saints not the Giants who were by FAR the hottest team in the NFL going into last weeks games. The Saints were crushing teams and destroyed the Giants as well. It's amazing how people give no credit to the Niners for taking down the hottest team in the NFL. Keep sleeping on Alex Smith. Eli has had 4 hot games in a row. He will have a bad game vs SF defense. Your totally ignoring the special teams factor in this game. Niners kicker/punter combo is tops in the NFL and blow away the Giants special teams. On a nasty field those assets will pay huge dividends. Lee will flip field position all game and Akers is money unlike Tynes who sucks balls and missed another chip shot last week. Your only chance is for Eli to have a perfect game and go crazy. Giants won't run on this team. They couldn't even run on GB. Want to talk about flukey? Look no more then last weeks GB/NY game. 8 dropped passes, wide open missed throws, hail Mary TD? Really? Alex Smith at home is 18-2 ATS last 20.
Just talking about "hottest teams" ... The Patriots have won their last 9 straight -- the last 8 regular season games and their first playoff game.
Wouldn't that make NE at least tied for the hottest team going into last week, along with NO?
And I guess now NE, with nine straight wins, is officially the hottest team, right?

Is there a worse game manager than John Harbaugh? He mismanaged the timeouts at the end of the 1st half when he could have got the ball back and then the kicker runs on the field with about 12 seconds left and the playclock running down. Call a timeout bro! They completely rushed that FG, it wouldnt have iced the kicker as they were not even set up.
Still hit a nice chunk on the spread but would have liked a shot at the ML.
Just hoping his brother is as bad.

I don't think special teams is going to be a big factor in this game. No Ted Ginn, sloppy field (potentially). It'll be a very slight edge to SF....although no Ted Ginn may hurt the Niners as guys like Kyle Williams aren't as accustomed to handling returns, which could lead to a turnover.
Prophetic sadly

Not really. The game was a complete tossup. The Niners just did not land on the right side of the turnover coinflip this time and fortunately my money did.
Your boys were really tough. If they could have converted a 3rd down they probably would have won before OT.
Gotta love the resiliency of Manning though. This guy took an absolute beating today. I would take him over his brother any day in the playoffs.

Ya those were definitely the 4 best teams in the league. None of the teams in the games had a lead of more than 7 and they were complete sweats all the way through.

Niners defense completely shut down the giants rushing offense.
Niners D in the second half shut Eli down. He couldn't do anything.
Williams single handedly fucked the city of SF and 51 guys who spilled their guts on the field. Let's face it - Ginn played today / Niners are in the SB. It's as simple as that.

Not sure right now. I haven't looked too much into in yet but I could make a strong case for both teams. Last year I rode the Packers hard and then jumped ship in the big game and paid for it. I haven't been on the Giants as hard this year but jumping off and losing again would suck big time.
