NFL is not sport. It is an entertainment show. Same with NBA, baseball and any other professional American sports. Entertainment first, athleticism second. It is quite possibly the biggest scam that has ever been created.
If you wish to discuss this further, private message me. I know the ins and outs of sports fixing. I do private research everyday to ultimately find out who this "Man behind the curtain" is. The Man who decides outcomes of games with the flick of his fingers. I've been trying to get answers for the past 5 years. All I know of him is his nationality. This information alone is worth about half a million dollars. I'm not going to post it here.

Don't get me started on this.

I'm sure this is a discussion that comes up a lot. I just had this with a friend yesterday who swears that the NFL is rigged.
These are the questions I asked him:
1. If you REALLY believe it's rigged, then why do you watch it? You don't watch WWE anymore, why watch the NFL?
Because I bet on it. Regardless of whether it's rigged, swayed, whatever you want to call it, you can make money while doing it if you know and understand the "system" or somewhat know the system that is in place to make oddsmakers profit over the long run. If you are capable of learning to beat the system, why stop? Do you not use fire anymore because you got burned a couple of times? you learn, you adapt. You take the cheese if you know how to get around the mouse trap right? (The real kicker is what is the "mouse trap") I don't think people realize what that is.
2. Even if it is rigged, you still have a 50/50 chance of picking the winner, all you have to do is figure out who to pick. So if you want to bet, it's still a fair bet right? 50/50.
Exactly, see above.
3. If it's rigged to make money for "Vegas", the NFL, paid off players, the boogie man, then it would make sense to follow the money right? Where ever most of the money is bet, just take the other side and you will win right?
Vegas is smart enough NOT to make it that easy and you can't think on such a small scale or low level. Vegas absolutely doesn't care about any singular game. IMHO, the term it's a marathon not a sprint is very true in sports betting. A common thought is that oddsmakers wants even money on each GAME and is content to sit back and collect vig. I disagree with this. I believe the "vig" angle isn't at that single game level but at a higher point in the process, maybe at the "this bettor type vs. this bettor type". In other words, vegas realizes there are MULTIPLE types of bettors from "fade the public guy" to "situational capper" to "statistician" to "match up" guy, even to "square public" guy. It's at THIS level they want to even action and to sit back and collect Vig. They don't mind losing to "fade the public guy" on certain games because "public" guy is paying them out. They don't care about losing to statistician because the situational capper is paying them out. And on and on. And even if it's not exactly "even" bets that week, the next week and over the course of season(s), it probably does even out and end up 50/50 no matter what system you use. And THAT's the key, to keep the majority INTERESTED and constantly betting and moving money back and forth over years. If you lose enough you will lose interest therefore vegas lets you win a little bit and throws all types of bettors a bone. You shear the sheep, don't skin him right? THAT is the true vegas mouse trap. Not to beat every bettor at every game and to make money on every game. It's to keep people interested and betting over years and even decades to keep that vig flowing.
At that point he flipped me off and changed the subject.
I don't think none of us REALLY think this game is scripted. Yes there are dumb calls, fishy calls, and outright outrageous calls, but isn't that how life is?
Why did Coca-Cola change their formula? Why did the Browns draft Brandon Weeden? Why do guys these days wear tight pants?
??? No bearing and not similar to the majority betting on a concensus "sure" thing only to have a team and/or coach inexplicably decide to be amateur hour for this one game. Last seasons Houston/Pitts game comes to mind and how the 1st half ended. PROFESSIONALS, both players and coaches alike, doing DUMB stuff when everyone including JOE PUBLIC knows they shouldn't be doing it. Coke isn't taking bets on their recipe. Designers are setting O/Us on the number of males wearing skinny jeans. But there is money on outcomes of games and the ones that are setting the handicap are the ones in line to profit.
The answer is all the same: Dumb stuff happens.
Just my opinion.
Good discussion. I'm sure many think I am crazy or dumb and that's cool, we are all allowed our opinions. I'm happy with my "system" which isn't one system at all but EVERY system I have ran into mish mashed into one, mixed with my own gut. Recognize the "traps" and WHO they are trying to "trap" and adjust accordingly.

Which means that every teaser total was a live ticket. Vegas "rigged" themselves out of millions of dollars.
I wonder who came up with that plan?
Vegas doesn't care about "losing" particular bets on any particular games. They are operating under the big picture. As long as bettors keep betting, they win. They'll gladly take from "side" players and lose to "teaser" players. Why? Cause odds say within the next few weeks it will be "teaser" players losing and "sides" guys turn to win. Then the following week it will be another group of betters winning while other lose. Again, main thing is you keep them coming back and collecting juice from players, even if it's not every week. In the end, they keep the money going back and forth and sit back and collect juice every time it changes hands.

The largest book in vegas ended up limiting players.. The claimed "their algorythms are so good they will take any bet from anyone".. Moments later they started to profile all the winners and cut their limits... They go online and to execute a play and the wheel would spin and spin lol and the order doesnt go through... The only way they win is limiting everyone and keeping the squares... And most of their clientelle comes from Cali where most players have a local... They are shrinking ...

Lets not mention brady... This man never gets touched... And when people start talking about it... He gets lightly sacked.. because he's the main star... That's why he looks so good when you have 3 hours to throw the ball... Now imagine something happening to that star... Everyone in the league would lose out ... Look at what happend when woods left golf... or when jordan finally retired... Oh boy.. lol we had lock outs bail outs all kinda outs were needed.. Stimulus plans you name it
Just for the record, and this was just posted on the site, from time of snap to throwing the ball, Brady is the fastest QB in the league....................cause and effect................
He does not get sacked because of cause and effect not because the fix is in..

I don't believe Vegas or the league fixes games, I don't see evidence of it.
One can easily assume this by saying any close call was a fix, one can easily bend and twist a story around what happens on the field to try and make sense of it for a fix, but I could do that in a pee-wee football league to, that's not evidence but one man's opinion, and we know what they say about opinion's.
Things happen because of random chance, you could flip a coin and come up heads 7 times in a row, that's not skill nor fixed, it's random chance.
Everyone who ever lived as experienced random chance, they just don't know it when it happens.
Shaq, a 50% free throw shooter can have moments of 80 or 90 %, that's random chance. It's not fixed or skill, how could you fix a 50 % FT shooter to make 90 %.
A team converts 50 % on 3rd downs can have a game converting 80 or 85 %, and a game converting 20 or 25 %, not fixed it's random chance.
Fumbles and such are the same.
What random chances needs is more attempts and eventually given enough attempts there will be extreme moments of random chance.
I have methods using similar principles to random chance that have won in 70's, 80's, 90's 2000' and now 2010's, if Vegas or the league are fixing games it would have to be an incredibly sophisticated fix to be fixing the same info to produce winners in every decade, tells me it's not the fix is in but random chance plays out over and over again.
And by the way I did have the Saints last night in my weekly football pool.

Most of the times there's no need... I think staged is a better word or scripted... Staged for a big crowd to see a good show... And books have alot of information to use in their advantage.. this aint exactly soccor we are talking about where rumors have been told that refs get paid at half time.. And that there are games being bet on that have never even occured... Its show business...
