I agree with your general hypothesis regarding the identification of a trap game but the numbers don't support it for this game. Pretty well everywhere I'm looking the Packers are slightly more popular than the Bears. The consensus on this site is 51% Packers, hardly the numbers you'd expect for a trap line....

OVERALL ANALYSIS
Green Bay's offense has yet to hit its stride even going back to the preseason, and with the Bears appearing to now have the firepower necessary to go toe-to-toe with the league's top scoring teams, the time is clearly now for Rodgers and company to step it up and reach their usual standards of excellence. Fortunately for the Packers, they know full well what they'll be getting from out of a Chicago defense that isn't fancy, or as formidable as the take-no-prisoners San Francisco outfit that stymied Green Bay last week. Marshall and Forte will be hard to handle for a Packers stop unit that's still somewhat of a work in progress, but odds are Rodgers will come closer to showcasing his MVP form against a familiar opponent. He's also the less likely of these two quarterbacks to commit a pivotal turnover that could loom large to the outcome of what should be a close and exciting contest. 2 units OVER 51-

"PACKERS -5 MAX UNIT PLAY ***POD*** (15 units) Man do I love this matchup. Speed and power on both sides of the ball with SF having the best defense in the league last year. too bad they got a beast of a team to deal with for their first game and on the road. Rodgers is the best QB in the league IMO. Better than Brady Brees and both the Manning's. His ability to read defenses and execute his offense is superb. They will be ready and poised for another great season and a run at the post season once again. I dont really even see this game being close to be honest. GB by 10+" So you thought Packers would beat 49ers by 10+ and Rodgers would be ready for another post season run. But now you think they will lose to bears? I guess you didn't learn anything from last week with your "trap line theory or reading lines" you pounded titans +4.5 knowing patriots would stomp there heads in, but since the line seemed fishy, you took titans......... |
