Nice win on that KC over. I was stoned watching the game with nothing rolling and when that last TD was scored in garbage time( right after the two defensive TD), I said to myself there's some pissed off under bettors out there along with some happy mofos that got lucky with the over. Glad u were on the winning side.

I've been out of loop lately betting so have been laying low(combo of coming into season with no bankroll for 1st time/tailing someone in totals that went 3-12 the first few weeks/one really bad week that crushed me). I tried to give it a go with really small units to stay sharp the last few weeks, but my heart just isn't in it.

So for rest of the year, I'm gonna eye down one game and throw 100 on them. Hopefully go 7-2 or 6-3 and have a few peanuts for the playoffs. Feel like a giant loser and it really eats my ass being like this as my picks for the year are over .500, but the shit hit the fan and its no ones fault but my own for the position I'm in.

Took the Lions -4 this week. Sucker play and all, and I can't believe I'm saying these words, but I think the lions DEFENSE is gonna dominate and win this game easily.

Gonna keep an eye on KC for future bets. Funny how they have been sucking it up over two months(I almost committed suicide the week I bet them over the ravens they are so hard to watch), but NOW after a couple late SD defensive touchdowns, the media has finally picked up on it and everywhere I turn is a story on how bad the Chiefs are. Turn on ESPN and their brain dead analysts are ragging on them. Open the paper and all I see are graphs showing how many minutes( 0) they have led in 8 weeks of football. Go on the net and there's idiotic discussions of "can Alabama beat the Chiefs?" Are they awful? Absolutely. Are they a toilet bowl? Absolutely. Are Cassel(or Quinn) as bad as they look? Absolutely. Are they bettable down the stretch? ABSOLUTELY. Their D is awful, but its still a Crennel D with talent, and the numbers wouldn't be half as bad if u take all the offensive pk6/fum6 out of the equation.... Not to mention all the bad spots the offense puts them in. Speaking of the offense, they can still run the ball pretty well, have weapons with Charles, Bowe, Moeaki, mccluster. Have a 3-4 pronged running attack(love the Drongues kid). If they could just stop turning the ball over 4-5-6 times a game, they could be respectable...and will be down the stretch. I haven't eyed their schedule the rest of the way, but I'm hoping they are home in the very near future going against a good football team that is weak against the run, and I'm hammering them ML.

Enough babbling from me. Andy, keep doing your thing, and good luck to all the regulars that contribute weekly to this thread.

Just had a post regarding the Giant game(saw u were close to pulling the trigger) and lost it.

The short version......

- saw interview with Cruz
- he said he hasn't done a thing all week except spend it with family.
- assumed the rest of the team did the same.
- brought up the hurricane I've lived through and my assumption many home team players are living through the same( family and homes).
- thought that was a good reason to stay away from NY.

- Pitt couldn't get hotel rooms for teams because of storm.
- because of that, are flying into NY early Sunday morning.
- 1 hour flight not the end of the world, but u know players and their game day rituals.
- rambled about that point and made a terrible analogy comparing NFL foofball to the beer league softball team I play for and went into painstaking detail about "my" game day ritual and how for our last game I didn't go about my ritual like I normally do and how it led to just an awful night for me.

Bottom line: probably not the best game on the card to wager on with all the Hurricane Sandy intangibles.

No real feel for that one Easy. Seattle has won a grand total of 1 game by more than 4 point this year. But I think the game comes down to what you think of Minnesota. If they really are a solid group that is headed for 9 or 10 wins then this game is a tossup. If they are an overachiever that raced out of the gates early against a soft schedule and are in the midst of a big regression (haven't covered in 3 games) then they probably continue their spiral this week.

GL. What happened to that other place? Did C go on a drunken spree and ban me?

Shit buddy sorry to hear about your situation. I've missed the long ass back and forths we used to have haha. Hopefully you go on a 8-0 run for the playoffs and get it back into 1st gear for the stretch run.

Funny you say that about KC as I was thinking the exact same thing. Every year 1 or 2 teams starts out horribly and then comes together and covers a ton in the last 6 weeks or so. Chiefs play @ PIT on MNF next week. Tough one there but they host the Bengals and Broncos the two weeks after that. They really don't have a tough schedule after Pittsburgh. This team is going to win a few games.

I'm going to be stubborn with my Pit pick. I see your point of view but I'm going to side with the motivational factor that IMO it's a must win game for Pit. I don't see Balt losing to Cleve, and Pit simply can not afford to drop another game back. They know it, I expect that they'll play like it too. Also, while you rightfully admire Luck (awesome talent) as I do, I also appreciate Big Ben's amazing ability to carry the team on his back and make things happen.
Should be a really fun game to watch, no matter what!

BOL Andarmac, any thoughts on JAGS live dog this week?? Detroit pitiful on the road and there always seems to be a lot of dissention with that team. Plus Calvin not 100% if he plays at all.

I've been thinking and reading about this game all day. I know the Giants schedule has been messed up this week but events like this have a weird way of bringing people together. Marathon cancelled, people need something to feel good about and they've got the Giants in the late national TV window all by themselves. Some people have apparently been pleading that this game doesn't get PPD like the marathon.

I've read where a ton of Giants players were keeping in touch with each other this week and making sure everyone was alright and some letting teammates and their families that have lost power come over and stay at their places. That sounds normal but it's small things like that which can bring guys closer together.

Few interesting quotes:

Tom Coughlin: "I think the mission will be quite clear. "Trying to provide a few hours of enjoyment for so many that have been devastated. I think they'll do a good job of that."

You've got Army generals who have toured all the damage meeting with the team and telling them this: "Both New York City and New Jersey will look to their team, the NY Giants, for inspiration. I told the team today that playing the game to the best of their abilities will show fans their toughness, their strength and their resiliency at a time when they need it the most."

Chris Canty:  "Just understanding, when we take the field on Sunday, hey, we represent those folks. That was the (general's) message. It was a timely message and it was an important message."

"To represent the people of a great city and two great states, all our fans, especially with all the loss, all the damage and destruction, just to be able to provide a sense of normalcy, even for a couple of hours. They can know their football team is going to play hard and it's going to be tough, and fight. I think that is important. It's important for our football team to understand."


I think the false notion that the Giants won't care about this game against the Pittsburgh freakin Steelers anyway because of their division lead has officially been squashed. They were going to care about this game all along but now they are really going to play hard. How bad would it be if they came out and laid a stinker right on national TV when so many people are looking for a feel good moments albeit even if it's for a couple hours? Sports has a funny way of bringing people together in times when they need something to rally around.

I hear ya on the game day rituals. The Giants' week may have been a little interesting but their game day routine will be the same. Pittsburgh's game day will definitely not be routine and that can mess guys up. Hell if I don't have my daily morning shit my day is all messed up.

Very good angle on the Giants game Mac. I agree that the Steelers are overrated. They boast the worst defensive line in the league, and with Eli back there with time to throw, it won't matter how good Pittsburgh's secondary is (not that it's anything special). Pittsburgh has looked good in their last 2 games but if you look at their opponents its pretty obvious why. I actually liked them at first glance, but after looking into the game I think there is a huge gap in talent difference and those quotes you posted solidified the motivational angle as well.

Cowboys match up extremely well against the Falcons. I think the Boys' front 7 deserves more credit than the Cowboys 2 CBs everyone is talking about though. Either way, Matty Ice is in tough against this stout defense but there are a few worrisome things:

1. Felix Jones blows. Falcons have a weak run D but Jones doesn't have the talent to take advantage of it. Different story if Demarco is in. 
2. I hear everyone saying the Falcons don't care about this game. Bullshit. They are undefeated and want to remain so. Everyone in the media is still disrespecting them. There is no way they will overlook this Cowboys team either. 
"Is the national media making a big deal about us like they would if it was Philly, Green Bay or New England? No, they're not," Gonzalez said Thursday, according to USA Today Sports. "We played Philly and beat them. And Philly was on TV all week."

I almost want to play the Falcons after writing that but I think this one comes down to the wire. 

Love the Browns a lot this week, this team is WAY better than their record and the Ravens are a huge fraud. No way they should be laying 4 in a divisional revenge game. Cleveland almost won IN Baltimore and that was without their top corner Haden and before Baltimore's injuries. Browns win SU.

Good read , probably siding with you on Dallas if they can cut the turnovers out they will be in this with a good chance to win outright .. Agree that tenn are garbage and took the bears counting on a better offensive performance and the usual solid defense .. BOL this weekend

While u could make an intangibles case to wager on either of these teams , I don't think anyone can realistically judge who the situation will impact more until o see who turns up once e games has kicked off, probably a good game to sit and enjoy without having your cash on the line.. Anyway if people wager BOL

Let's face it-with no less than 8 games straddling the "GREAT ABYSS" we bettors know as 3-4 pt. land is it any wonder there are close to a handful of real tough picks this week where one could make solid arguments for either side of a matchup.

Re: MIA-IND it is a game I'm still undecided on and just wanted to throw these points out for consideration.

MIA has been a tremendous road dog for most of the L3 years and this is not a big number  for them to cover. I feel they have played tougher "D's of the two and they do possess the same record where one could make a similar argument -even more so-in respects to how close their record could be to 6-1.

MIA is # 3 and very stout vs. the run which IND does not have much of and this should bring a lot of pressure and collapsing pockets on Luck. I have not seen much of INDY's play this year so I am sure you are much more proficient in predicting how he will respond.

But we also have a lot of teams in real tough look aheads this week and one of them is this young Indy squad with a Thursday game on deck which might have them a bit off focus on the immediate  job at hand ,as well as they are coached.

Just a real short .02 and I love the CAR and DAL plays btw.

Re: one more game-some intriguing stats and info to weigh re: NYG-PIT.

PIT has the best TOP in the league and a super 3rd down conversion rate which is testament to Big Ben and certainly not his O-line. The dude is elusive for a big man and throws better on the run running to his opposite side let alone his good side than anyone currently playing the game.

Most times anyone sees this team as a dog of this size we'd be salivating like Pavlov's dog but not so quick. PIT has only beaten ONE team with a winning record in their last 16 games...YES, it is true. Additionally they are only 3-14 ATS AWAY.

They are flying in/out on game day but if any team can pull that off on a short flight it is PIT who were road warriors extraordinaire  before the Gmen were . We know this will be a battle royale and despite the numbers PIT will elevate their game to quality opposition.

Conversely we have this Gotham City Gmen squad who are already shaking their usual mid-season vs. weak teams swoon M.O. that Coughlin must have addressed. They have vanquished teams in the 4th Q. if they have gotten down ie. TB,CLE,WAS and DAL.

Did you know that in the L12/15 years ( its one or the other) that the SB winner has only returned to the playoffs in  the next year TWICE?

This team is playing to return to the Big Dance. This may or not be a formula for that repeat success but we will find out. The most dominant victory IMHO this year so far was their 26-3 crushing of the 49'ers in Candlestick.

I read how this number is begging NYG money but I do not see that at all. PIT will show up and despite their 127 yards less per game given up in offense they still have a secondary that can be picked apart by elite,accurate QB's of the genre Manning, Manning ,Brady and Rogers.

Enter Eli the 4th Q. maestro and his Cruz Missile.....

Who knows how this will close but that might be my curtain call predicto.

I forgot one sidenote that you addressed. The emotion the Giants will take to that field in respect to providing a few hours of joy for a massive community that got torn asunder in many seaside areas by Hurricane Sandy.

With you all day on Indy, as they should win SU. Look at the stats from last week's Jets Dolphins game. Jets outgained Mia by 120 yards. Miami also faces a huge letdown after a big conf. win with back to back road games. Love Indy at home. I think Mia-2.5 has books begging for MIA $, showing them as a false fave.

That Wash/Car game has me scratching my head. I like Skins coming home after a couple of tough losses versus Pitt and NYG, but neither one of these teams makes a ton of stops. I think the emotions way heavy on Cant Newton this week too after they blow the lead against Chicago. This game and TB / OAK have me flipping coins.

NY Giants -3

For a lot of the reasons already mentioned. I think the Giants are better than Pittsburgh for starters and off a bad game by the offense (and some sloppy play the past 2 weeks) I think they get on track. I will pay to see if this Steelers defense still has what it takes to stop a good offense on the road. Losing Dwyer and having only Redman at RB is also a big blow for a Steelers run game that was big for them the past two weeks.

I really like the emotional angle here for the Giants. The whole situation there has been thinking they show up and play real hard and if they do that they are better than Pittsburgh IMO. The fact that the 2nd half has started and the Giants have been awful starting around this time of year recently has will also add to their motivation.

Here's some thoughts I wrote in another thread regarding this game way back earlier in the week even before considering the emotional angle:

Surprised to see you on Pittsburgh. Everywhere I look I see people on the Steelers so far. Sometimes there is something to that angle and sometimes there is not. For example many people are on Dallas, but that will not impact the game IMO because of the fact the Cowboys are playing for their season essentially against an overrated team. In other words the outside perception by fans and media is that the Cowboys are fuckups and stink. The perception of them is NOT greater than what they are, actually they are underrated.

However the perception of Pittsburgh has changed dramatically in two short weeks with wins over a shit Bengals team and over a Redskins team that dropped 10 passes and couldn't stop anyone if they tried. Two weeks ago the perception of the Steelers were they are an old, banged up team with a defense that sucked on the road. Now suddenly in the mainstream the Steelers are back when in reality they probably aren't. That is perception. I disagree completely that the Giants don't care about this game. They've got a hot, well-publicized team coming into their house in the late game national TV window. It's not like they are hosting Jacksonville at 1:00. Also working in the Giants favor is they played like crap last week. Good teams don't play like shit two weeks in a row. I think Eli and his receivers have a rebound game and torch a defense that still stinks despite the perception. Next week is the time to fade the Giants.

I thought that too but you have to go back to the end of the 2008 season to find the last time Roethlisberger was consistently good as a dog. Since that time he is 1-6 ATS as a dog away from home with every loss being by at least 6 points and four of the six coming by double digits. Average losing margin = 13.3 points per game. Perception vs reality.

The Giants stink as home favs largely because of the reason the nearly blew the Cowboys game. This team gets complacent and take their foot off the gas quite often. The thing is as home favs against good teams (favs of -4.5 or less) since their first Super Bowl win they actually have a winning ATS record. The smaller the home fav you are the better the team you're playing and less likely you are to take your foot off the gas pedal. As home favs of -5 or more is where the Giants stink at 9-15-1 ATS. Perception vs reality again.

billyweather - I have no personal opinion on that one. But if Glyde is only betting one game a week and this week he is on the Lions then I wouldn't want my money on the Jags.

nepatriots_12 - I got a little queasy when I read that Gonzalez article myself after already betting Dallas. It is something to think about but the fact Dallas needs this game bad kind of negates it. That angle is usually better when you've got a really good up and coming team looking for respect. I'm not sure the Falcons are really good. GL buddy.

xflrejects - Miami is a really gritty team and it's tough to fade them but I don't like them as road favs yet. May be a small hangover off the Jets game as well as there was a big war of words heading into that one. Those teams hate each other. Colts defense as a whole has pretty bad this year and it is a concern although with the exception of CB Davis (not a huge loss against a team like Miami) they get Mathis back this week and are the healthiest they have been all season. I disagree with the lookahead angle though. I can't see them as home dogs against a winning team looking forward to a game against Jacksonville. Nice thoughts on the PIT/NY game. Big Ben will make some plays and PIT will probably rack up some yardage like everyone does against NY but at the end of the day I trust Eli to make enough plays and the defense to come up big when it matters most. Steelers were the better team. I thought the emotional angle would give the Giants a boost but they didn't have anything much today. A bet I'd make again but obviously the wrong side.

Pittsburgh is an interesting team. Their stats have certainly suggested they may in fact be a really damn good team. The eye tests (at least for me) haven't really agreed. I think I said earlier I'd pay to see them beat a good team on the road. Well they sure did and if this run game is for real then Pittsburgh may be as well. The defense is actually completely healthy and dominating despite no Polamalu.


On another note: Andrew Luck is a fucking stud. My mega hard on for this kid has turned into permanent wood.
