Defense may win Championships, but Quarterbacks can lose you games.
Last time I checked, Phillys D had a decent year... and Zona scored at will early. If Big Ben thinks he can just turn it on in the 4th, like usual, and take down this game, the the Pittsburgh Steelers don't take it. Ben will need to do a better job of passing in the pocket to atleast stretch Zonas underrated D, allowing the Steel to thier bread and butter- the run.
The best thing going for Pitt is experience and D, I think we can all agree on that. Thats why the offense will need to come up big- if they lose this game, it will be because the offense couldnt keep pace early- granted, if the Cards do find themselves in that situation (will everyone shut up about regular season- people need to read some articles on parody in the "new" NFL...) again, we will see if they learned to keep the pedal to the metal rather than sit on a game and almost lose it at the end, a la Philly.
If the weather is poor, take the Steel curtain with a 1/2 pt teaser. If its a beauty out, take Steelers on the ML. What my question to all is......... WHY ARGUE ABOUT A RELATIVELY HARD DECISION WHEN THE OVER IS WHERE ITS AT??? stop wasting your time pickin the winner in this one!!! take the $$$- take the over!!!
Zona has the best recieving corps in the biz. Fitz is 2nd best individually. Andre Johnson is still #1 (Kevin Walter??? c'mon- we don't even need to go to QB's... which makes Calvin Johnson #3), but Zona has one of the best pure passers ever to play in the biz playing like it (who's a better pure passer than Warner?? Marino and Montana... good.. now who else- now you have to argue, because no one is clearly better after those 2), a backfield well-rested with no big bangs and a renewed motivation as they face another situation where all 49 other states favor the opponent. Breaston and a Boldin out to prove he isn't the next El Dorado Owens, I laugh at the guys who think this ones gonna be about defense. Warner will take 6 sacks to throw 6 touchdowns, and all he needs is a 3 step drop anyway.
Fast Willie and Mewelde. I think they will prevail and outduel the most underrated running game in Super Bowl history (anyone wanna take a stab at Zonas rushing total after the 1st half vs. a stiffling Philly D). Willie was so key in thier last super bowl, he is looking like he did in week 1 (half his seasons TD's), and... most importantly... he represents the intangibles that will help the experienced Stellars team edge out a hot Cards team.
Either way, this will be another good one... remember the 90's when every super bowl just sucked.... don't treat the Cards like the 90's bills, or the chargers, or any of the other teams that went there to get thier sides toasted.... this will be close- 34-31 Pitt w/ no rain- 27-20 with rain. take the over before it goes up another half pt!!!!
