And based on the NFL rule, it shouldn't have been a catch. And the fact it was a replay and still wrong, makes it worse (Let's not even mention it was blatant offensive pass interference). The rule clearly states the play was an interception:
Simultaneous Catch. If a pass is caught simultaneous by two eligible opponents, and both players retain it, the ball belongs to the passers. It is not a simultaneous catch if a player gains control first and an opponent subsequently gains control.

Gabbo, listen am gonna take the word of a longtime ref knowing the rulebook better then you any day of the week.
Austin clearly explained when the replay was happening, why it was an int. I doubt you know more then him or any of the other nfl people who are blowing up the net right now about this call.

CD - it is more effective to make your own position and debate it than try to say you are on the same side as your "expert".
Just saying.
Why not state your position and debate it. I stated mine. I dont care if Jerry Austin or someone else disagrees or agrees with my interpretation - until there are FACTS presented one way or the other, it is interpretation.
What you are doing shows weakness.

well van, on my tv i clearly saw the packer guy have control and possession of the ball, while hitting the ground, then the seattle player just kept ripping at the ball until he finally got it.
also to call using an expert who knows the job and performed it for 25 years weak, is pretty funny.
I think getting an expert to answer the question is the best thing to do and his answer should be worth more then a bunch of gamblers watching it tv, who have never reffed a game in their lives.
If you need you car fixed, do you ask an expert to fix it, or somebody off the street who doesnt have a clue.
So i think your case is pretty weak.

I don't care what some old ref says or what most of those bandwagon TV ex players say.....most of them are as clueless as the general covers membership
Correct---we watch as much football as they do!

We will see guys....
I think by tomorrow there will be clarifications and much more opinions about the play and the interpretation.
If I see a replay or another angle or a rule that makes my position wrong - I will state it here. Im just calling it like I see it and understand it.
Should be interesting....
