If anything has become apparent… it’s that the league doesn’t hold Fields as high in regard as a couple in this thread do
With Kirk Cousins new contract in ATL, he will have made $411 million through the 2027 season in his career. Of which 329 million is guaranteed.
He has 1 playoff win in 12 seasons.

Fields is a project now. No coach wants to depend on getting him up to speed while trying to win games. Whoever ends up with Fields will be crossing their fingers he doesn’t have to play. The best thing to happen to Fields is to not take any special packages as a back up. Learn ALL the plays or he will never start another season as the number 1 guy. Special play spells gimmick. If he wants to be taken seriously he has to know everything. He is not a talented rookie. He insinuated he wasn’t the blame through being over coached, it looks the complete opposite. He looks like he never been coached.

Definitely. Hurts won’t sit even when he is injured. Fields would never see the field in Philly. That might be a break for Fields.

You guys are acting like Fields was actually being shopped by the Bears, and with certainty. Only the Bears gm truly knows what's been going on, and he has been tight lipped.
All the media and pundits are just spewing their opinions throughout this whole deal.
For instance, think about this. Fields is owed only 2.3 million this year on his contract. Did the Falcons pass on him to sign Cousins for the boat load he costs? A 35 year old coming off Achilles surgery.
Then the Vikings passed on Fields for Sam Darnold?
The Bears have only 4 draft picks remaining in this year's draft. Gave up a 2nd rounder for Montez Sweat, a 4th rounder for Keenan Allen, and a 5th for Ryan Bates. Sounds to me like they need to trade down and re-up their draft stock.
Or they could draft a qb at #1, who paints his nails, cries to mommy, refused to do medicals, and refused to do anything at the combine. Then be stuck with 2 qb's, and only 3 more picks remaining.

This post has aged well. They actually picked up 2 new centers. And now they have two #1's at WR. Drafting another WR would be a home run. Especially if it's MHJ.

U missing the point...NO team was trading for him as a starter for 1 year..If they traded for him they would have to pick up the 5th year option if they believed he can be a starter and no team would take that risk..Why would they..What had Fields shown with he Bears for a team to trade for him as a starter.. ...And fields has to learn a new offense...He is dead weight because he is entering his 4th years on his rookie deal...It does not mean he does not have talent or cannot be a starting QB one day..But the risk is too much based on he 1st 3 years.
Ryan Poles is 100% drafting a QB. His career as a GM is on the line..He will never be a GM again if he does not draft a QB and sticks with Fields and he is a bust next year...Fields is not even Poles guy..U bet your ass he is drafting a QB ..they will give him a few more years with the Bears....

@undermysac
If Fields is their guy then He doesn’t know it. Bad optics. If Fields is not their guy then Poles botched getting proper compensation for HIM if HE is as good as Poles thinks HE is. Botched either way.

Yup...If the Bears were sticking with Fields...U 100% come out early and say it...U let him know he is the guy...The #1 pick does not lose value if everyone knows the Bears are trading it....There are multiple teams willing to trade up to grab a QB...

Agreed and Greed. Only an incompetent front office could botch this situation with Fields this badly. Failure at its finest at the highest level. If Fields was really that good you could get at least one 1st round pick for him, but only Poles thinks that he is worth a 1st rounder but doesn’t want to keep him.

Are we just gonna ignore the 25 million or so Fields is GUARANTEED for the following year?
Bears aren't gonna eat ANY of that.

Wow..All they could get was a conditional 6th round pick in 2025.....At least he is going to a team that he might be able to take over for Russ come mid season..when Russ stinks it up..Good spot for Fields...

It was said that Jim McMahon was a freak when the Bears drafted him, so who cares that QW paints his nails?
Can he pass the ball from the pocket or release it quickly with accuracy? Can he drive the ball down the field in the 4th quarter to lead the team to victory? We will see. Good luck kid.
JF was 10-28 as a starter. Time to move on.

Fields has to improve....A LOT
Reading defenses
Releasing the ball quicker
Putting the ball there...BEFORE a wide out breaks
Touch/timing on Any/all intermediate passes
He does none of this
The league knows and has caught up to Mr athletic qb.

Very true, plus maybe he never had these skills for the NFL to begin with...his OSU training days didn't really offer him much challenge beating up on cream puffs for the majority of the season.
Fields is a prototypical CFL QB, he could've signed with BC Lions or another team who have a history of taking dual threat QBs and letting their talents shine on the field...after a year or two dominating in the CFL, his stock would most likely rise above a 6th rd pick () and teams would probably be willing to over pay him for a 1 year "let's see how this goes" type contract with heavy incentives for one true money cash cow contract.
Being a backup QB for the next few years in Pittsburgh will never led him to a pot of gold.
Oh well, he's still going to make a lot of money holding a clipboard and hanging out with the cheerleaders for the next little while...not a terrible gig.

My (limited) understanding of the Steelers QB situation....
Both Fields AND Wilson could very well be gone at the end of the season.
I guess they aren't pot committed to Field's guaranteed $25 mil for next year. Don't know who would be if they let him go.
