I was never a fan of Palmer but if you watched the last two years with him in Arizona he's been 2nd to only Rogers , he makes all the hard throws he stands in the pocket takes big hit delivers throws downfield with accuracy
Palmer's not a phony like Brady who never is required to throw a ball downfield and cowers to the ground at any hint of pressure
Palmer in the Carolina game was coming into that game with an injury to index finger of his throwing hand , it was visibly swollen
Beast you really should invest in a HD TV color TV and throw out that 12 inch Black and white you watched super bowl 1 on
And in the future leave all QB evaluations to others who have the Red Zone, NFL Network , ESPN or at least cable TV
Thanks buddy
Agree with Palmer being a very good QB at Arizona. Spot on with the injury call he was not even close to 100% for that game.. When he was healthy he was a top 5 - 8 top QB in the NFL..

I've made good money betting on backup QBs because the major line moves are usually an overreaction to what is at the end of the day, 1 player from one side of the ball. But being that this is Brady, he really is possibly the most important player to any team and I don't think just having another TE is going to make an offense that is really not deep at the WR and RB positions be able to move the chains that well.
Do I think the Pats can win without Brady? Sure. But until Jimmy G proves he can do it I'll be on the other side. In fact I think NE has been due to trend downward for a while and will probably be one of the worst teams ATS this year even when Tom comes back. I'll be going against them a lot this year, starting in week 1.
I sometimes think ARZ is overrated but the fact remains they won what is probably the best div in the NFL and have both rising talent and established veteran playmakers on both sides of the ball and an excellent coach.
This is a tough spot for Jimmy G's first start: on the road vs one of the league's best teams led by a vet QB with one of the league's best CBs. He'll be limited to dump offs all game while Arizona can run and throw deep.
Week 2 vs the Phins he might do okay. Not this spot. Arizona got dismantled in their last game and will be looking to feast on a rookie QB. Cards are a week 1 banker IMO, square play or not.

I'd say Palmer, Peterson, Fitz and co. will be a lot less nervous on prime time than Jimmy G in his first start. This game could be a complete disaster as the Cards get a chance to make a statement week 1 by beating the Pats and erasing the bad memories of that spanking by the Panthers.
I usually bet .5 units on the week 1 slate, I'll probably do the same this week, until this game. This will possibly be 2 units, and I won't be waiting til game time to bet it.

Forgot to add it's the Sun nighter, national TV.

Well Mysticrich ya made ya bed with Carson Palmer being Johnny Unitas but the proof of the pudding is in the eating. Belichick did ok when Brady was out with Matt Cassel so for some cynical reason the "experts" like yourself and others through out the world including Europe think its a slam dunk for Carson Palmer and the dubious Arizona headcoach. Pride goeth before the fall, Mysticrich. I dont want any crybaby, weepy excuses from you and your European posse when the chessmaster Belichick takes Carson Palmer to the cleaners. One last thing Bill Belichick has neutralized far better QB's than injury prone ( no excuse) Carson Palmer. Capeche?

Brady is bye bye for 4 games so hes a zero factor with the Patriots vs Arizona. Matt Cassel under Coach Belichicks guidance was a winner so with Belichick calling the plays on the sideline either of the Patriots 2 remaining QB's will be fine. The Patriot TEAM will be rested and ready to PLAY WITH A CHIP ON THEIR SHOULDER PADS . So all of you Arnold Palmer fans will be in for a surprise when your QB Carson Palmer bogeys throughout this Patriot victory. Remember the Killer birds had to face San Francisco, St. Louis and way way over rated Seattle twice last season. This game will be TOTALLY underestimated by Arizona and be very very careful when you go against the Patriots when they are UNDERDOGS.

It's a prime spot to take the Pats getting 5+ points. The Pats will come into this game with the "us against the world" mentality. The Pats have a very solid defense and a good front seven whereas Palmer has a below average offensive line. The Cards lost all four games last season against good front sevens that were able to either stop the run or get pressure on Palmer. This is exactly the mismatch the Patriots have in their bags when travelling to Arizona.
In my opinion the argument of PhillyBrown on the Cardinals' CBs is not quite appliable on the Pats, because Josh McDaniels always has a play-calling that takes away the opponents biggest strengths. The Cards don't have tape of JG playing together with Dion Lewis, Bennett, Gronk. I give Josh McDaniels the edge here.
Don't be surprised if they show you ten different formations to start the game and jump a quick lead - forcing Palmer into airing it out.
Don't forget that it's a prime time game. The NFL doesnt have interest in this game being a blowout win against the backup-QB like most of the people expect. The storyline of JG upsetting the Cards in the absence of Tom Brady would be great. Just saying.
NE is the play for me.

When does the nervousness and jitters subside for Garapolo? After the 1st series or the 2nd? Or after the 1st Dion Lewis TD? It makes me laugh to read all of these CRYSTAL BALL negative predictions with the NE Patriots losing to a TEAM who was BLOWN OUT 49 - 15 in their last game. The NE Patriots were unlucky at Denver who handily beat up the team who humiliated Arizona.
I suspect all of you Patriot haters cant stand the truth. 1. Patriots owner SAVED the N.F.L., 2. Bill Belichik is the GREATEST COACH in the N.F.L. 3. Dion Lewis is the most DANGEROUS player on the field when healthy ( Gronk is in a class of his own). 4. Patriots getting points , it dont get any better than that!
Well Mysticrich you take Carson Palmer and thebeast takes the NE PATRIOTS and will be laughing all the way to the bank. A slam dunk with the NE Patriots if there ever was one!!!

People thought that last year in week 1 vs Pittsburgh, and also when they played Indy. Did they cover either game? Nope. And that was with Brady.
I agree the Pats have a good front 7 and that Arizona doesn't have a stellar O-line. That combined with Jimmy's first start could make the Under a very solid play.
Not many QB's are going to be able to win their first road start against a good team. The value is there and maybe he could surprise but I don't see it against a balanced team like Arizona at home at night, on a night they'll be honoring the recently deceased Dennis Green also.
Beast, you're a typical homer blowhard. I can't even call what you post analysis it's so ridiculous.

Its hilarious when "coach" phillybrown with his "expert PREDICTION" has the arrogance to think his guess is more valid than my own. Hey guy your just another bozo "coach" on the covers.com bus.Game hasnt been played YET so listen everyones OPINION is as good as the next one. Do I need your permission to root for the Patriots and who cares what your x's and o's crystal ball says to you.

You and everyone else is talking about a game in 7 weeks , alot can happen from training camp to the first week of the season , maybe Palmer and Garoppolo don't even play
The Patriots can win the game but it will have nothing to do with Carson Palmer being a stiff
Hey Beast Garapolo

With the guidance of All World QB Tom Brady it doesnt matter who plays the QB position in his absence since their first game is against the always awful Arizona Cardinals led by the come back player of the year ( another worthless award ) Old man Carson Palmer. Patriots have a cake walk based on the number of cover.com LOSERS taking Arizona, like I already said this game SLAM DUNK for Bob Kraft's NE Patriots ( savior of the NFL ) and coached by greatest coach who ever coached in the NFL, Bill Belichick. I rest my case!!!
