Y'all do know Brady was sacked more than Palmer last year, right?
And he has one of the quickest releases in football and is so familiar with the system and his guys that he doesn't have to hold the ball. Garropollo won't have that in his first start. They won't be throwing downfield the way the Cards will.
Arizona gave up far less passing 1st downs. Passing TDs allowed was close with NE a slight edge.
Arizona's D was 6th in interceptions, NE was 24th. No INTs in their last 3 games at all.
If you think those stats will be suddenly swerve in NE's favor with a guy who's never started playing on the road at night then I guess there's no point arguing any more. I think NE might get demolished tbh. They also have the Phins week 2 which is way more important.
A guys first road start is always a play against situ. Especially when playing one of the league's better teams who have talented vets and young guys, have a good coach, AND were embarrassed their last game.
Palmer's finger must be fine by now, it's not a knee or back. Also I think part of it was they were spent after playing OT when Rodgers pulled that miracle, it was a wild emotional game, and Carolina was just really freakin good last year. If it wasn't Manning's last game and I hadn't watched Denver's D dominate all year I would have taken Carolina in the super bowl. If NE had gotten there I would have been all over the Panthers. The NFC is the better conference.
Their d is good but without help from the offense they won't win this game, it's probably the worst possible situation Jimmy could get for his first start. Dunno why some can't see that but it just is. Dudes will be fired up for Denny Green and to erase the memory of that debacle vs Carolina. And what better situation than facing a guy making his 1st start?
Of course, Jimmy will have the support of a strong run game to take some of the pressure off him. Oh wait, maybe not, as NE ranked DEAD LAST in rush yards last year, and only averaged 50 ypg on the ground the last 3 games. Which is like unheard of for an NFL team to be that bad over a 3 game stretch.
Plenty of backup QBs do fine and can be a good play getting points. This isn't one of those deals, they will struggle to run their pass heavy offense without Brady.
