First, I will say good game Cowboys...it was a great game to watch.
First of all....it is being forgotten that GB would have been down 1 or 3 with 4 minutes left, so they would have had plenty of time to win the game still.
Moving on to the play...
Its funny people are fighting this call so much. Ive seen so many threads talking about all the "football plays" dez made after the catch...inlcuding taking THREE steps and diving for the goaline
First of all.....there is NO football move possible until the player establishes contact with the field of play...Dez doesnt take THREE steps, he takes zero. Landing on the ground is not taking steps.
He catches the ball in the air, then he lands....that is not TWO steps. It is LANDING.
His momentum is taking him towards the endzone. As he is FALLING, from his momentum and being tackled, he then takes ONE step, if you want to call falling to the ground moving forward and putting your foot down taking a step.
That, if anything, I can see might be said is a football move.
As he is falling, he reaches his arm out. People are saying this is a football move? Its reaction....
Either way...the rule clearly states when you are making a catch, the ground cant move the ball.
Not only does the ball move, it pops up into the air.
Its plain and simple.
If he didnt have to jump into the air and was running down the sideline, it would have been a different call.
But, landing on the ground after jumping, is NOT making a football move.
How many times do you see a WR come across the middle of the field, jump for the ball, and when he lands he gets poppped by one or two players and the ball comes out...thats not a fumble its an incomplete pass...
Why? Because he didnt make a football move...all he did was land on the ground. Its the same thing.
Its funny to hear people on this site say he took 3 steps.....come on...its not even close....he took maybe 1 step....maybe
