When two teams combined score ZERO points in 30 minutes of football there is something seriously wrong.
I had a teaser (stupid I know). Bills -3 / vikes/eagles over 42.5. should have hit that with ease. But nope no scoring in a full half of football. Rediculois

I'm still working on handicapping the NFL show, yes it's more show and scripted then muscle. You have to compare all game lines. Put the regular line side by side with 6 and 7 point teasers including totals. This will give you a better picture of what possible outcome score wise. Remember people can't even win picking teasers. No system is 100%, but I think is the best direction. This system, you pick parlay for one game. You place two bets, one team+ total and opposite on other ticket. Winner pays 2.5/1, so if you win one and lose one, you'll win 1.5 instead of 2.5. I see this can hit over 65% for NFL. NFC, AFC, conference, division, there are same match up and those games will be similar if not the same if you know how to identify the games that have identical matches for the same day.

no one plays with a sense of urgency in this league
almost every team runs the play clock down on every snap, guys just kinda walk back to the huddle at the end of every play
teams aren't even really trying to score, they're just trying not to make mistakes or turn it over. all the QB's are constantly checking down and just trying to run out the clock once they get the lead
the game is being played within such a small fraction of the field and with the players getting bigger every year there's less and less space on the field to do anything but just running the ball into a crowd or making short throws and hoping for a RAC
the games are so incredibly boring and there's so few possessions for each team
teams only run like 55 to 60 plays per game.. it's nothing, there's no action at all

Well it’s still only the second game with most of these guys not paying at all in the preseason. It’s not surprising that games are bad. Good coaches will make their teams better. Bad coaches will get fired.

I think the real problem is the player's and coaches just don't care enough about our bets.
I mean when you dominate a team at the half it's so inconsiderate to put your short 4-8 year earning window and multi million dollar contract ahead of my $15 9 team parlay. Especially when there's no one coming up the college ranks for a decade or so.
The league is about wins and statistics. They know when they can mathematically coast to a win and even if it bites them in the long run it pays off and preserves investments.
Adapt to 1h lines as they're more competitive.

You people are never happy. Then bet under if you know this smh. You want to watch and bet “exciting” football, go bet on Brandon Staley and Sean mcvay teams ! Or better yet; don’t bet pro and stick to the mac in college football
Til death do us under

The problem lies with the N.F.L and the Players Union. The N.F.L product these days is horrid.
Your NOT really seeing a live game of raw football like it used to be under guys like Lombardi. The N.F.L has turned live raw football into live fantasy football. It's not a really a "live raw" football game, it's the simulation or the mirage of a real football game. In this mirage, there is lots of scoring, and the prized QB's are protected w by rule. Injury to star QB's are not good for T.V ratings, so change they the rules of the game. God forbid if defense gets in the way of a wide receiver. You need big plays for the T.V ratings according to the N.F.l so they changed the rules of the game again to make that happen. You have the mirage of the defense on the field, but they are not actually allowed to play defense. Just run around and send a few guys after the QB for excitement...but don't tackle him or hit him and for God's sake leave the W.R's alone. But, play defense?
There clearly is lack of preparation and conditioning in preseason. The Packers along with most other teams didn't even bother playing any starters in any of the 3 preseason games. Why? The players are to precious to get hurt. They don't do "two a day's anymore". The Packers started the season with 4 starters not playing because of Injury anyway.
Think about this. There is only 11 minutes of actual football being played in every NFL game. Let that sink in....11 minutes of live football. Every single minute of the 11 minutes is under the absolute control of the N.F.L via penalty's as a result of rule changes. Have you noticed that over the last couple years, just about every big play that could change the potential of outcome of game gets flagged and is reviewed by none other then the N.F.L. They want to make sure the out come is line with what the N.F.L needs of T.V ratings & Vegas The N.F.L and the players union just don't care about the quality of the product. They don't want "raw live football" They want "live fantasy football" in which the N.F.L controls the entire 11 minutes of the game.
There is a war on excellence in the country and it's bleeding the glory of football to death. They want the Glory and the money but don't want to work for it.
Now what I just wrote is a hyper critical evaluation of current state of the N.F.L and maybe its just a wrong read on my behalf, but the N.F.L product is just not what it used to be. Cars, lawn mowers, t.v's and ways of communication have all changed, some for the better, some not. I just think the N.F.L should stop manipulating Football rules to suit T.V ratings. Go back to a 16 game season with 4 preseason games. Let the defense play defense, instead of the "hand off defense" and take away rules the require football players to change the laws of physics in mid air to prevent a penalty.
Just some random thoughts

My passion for NFL games is long gone, just stick around for the supplementary income from gambling. The only pro sports league I still get excited to watch is the NHL, shame I am a terrible hockey gambler.

this has nothing to do with gambling, just talking from a pure spectator's standpoint. not sure how you two missed that from this discussion.
anyway, again, i think what bothers me the most is the complete lack of urgency during game play. it really feels like the vast majority of teams are just going thru the motions and just try to play ball control and grind out some first downs here and there, play field position, and then punt.
and i don't mind low-scoring games either as long as they're legitimately good defensive battles. i don't need a game to be high scoring and full of big plays in order to be entertained, it's just the complete lack of emotion and unwillingness to take perceived "risks" downfield which is really hurting the game currently. to me, i believe that could be related to overall lack of talent in football these days. there's just not that many good players anymore, as many kids are deciding not to play the sport.
poster Hephaestus made a lot of great points about the NFL's over-regulation of game play as well, which is also really killing the game. refs hold far too much power and there's way too many rule changes each year. everything is penalized these days and there is absolutely no flow to the games.

Or, they are very good players that are told what plays to execute no matter what.
They don't have to know why it what for. Who cares about winning when you make 6 or 7 digits a year.? You wouldn't either.

Something is definitely off about this league this year. I can't put my finger on it but games are the strangest I've seen in years, from 1991 to 1998 we had the big 5 or 6 teams we could rely on virtually week in week out, when they would play a bad team it was blowout city. Then came 1999 the year parity started, wether this happened due to too many expansion teams too soon I don't know but from 1999 to around 2010 this was the NFL then came 2011 to 2021 you once again had the 4 or 5 teams you could trust week in week out with your jeckel and Hyde teams like chargers and 49ers having good years and bad years and now we have 2022 and I can't figure out this league or where its going as of now, I see easy covers getting not only blown for back door covers but outright come back wins, I see overs that look 95% probable losing at a huge rate, I see dead unders turning to overs more than i have before and its only week 2

Of course it is garbage, it is beyond scripted and very obvious... But every prime time game has gone under except the Bills/Titans game last night... You got players point shaving all the time... That is why i live bet, it is just way easier to predict.. The Vikings/Eagles O/U was around 50... First quarter, there was just 7 points yet in the 2nd quarter, 24 points, but then 0 in the second half... The Vikings managed just 7 points against a team that got torched by the Lions the week prior..
