How does that happen???
Before the review, the playclock would have run out at 31.
After, it was 40.

I said to my wife that the Cowboys were given another 10 sec. All I could think of is they score a miracle TD, miss the PAT and I lose in OT lol

Here is the rule. this is from 2018 so I don't know if the rule changed

They added the 4 seconds to the game clock for the first clause
They put the play clock to 25 seconds because of this "unless it was reset to 25 for another reason". I don't know enough about this to say what that could be.
And I am also not sure why there was no 10 second runoff.
I think this may be the case that is a bad rule and not a messup, but we'll see.
If the call is reversed:

@vanzack
I looked into it more....
NFL rule book, Rule 4, Section 6, Article 3 - look at "b". It is a bad rule IMO and not a messup
If the play clock is stopped prior to the snap for any reason, after the stoppage has concluded, the time remaining on the play clock shall be the same as when it stopped, unless:
(a) the stoppage has been for a charged team timeout, the two-minute warning, the expiration of a period, a penalty enforcement, or an Instant Replay challenge prior to the two-minute warning, in which case the play clock shall be reset to 25 seconds;
(b) the stoppage has been for an Instant Replay review after the two-minute warning that results in a reversal, in which case the play clock shall be reset to 25 seconds;
(c) the stoppage has been for an excess timeout while time is in that is charged to the defense, in which case the play clock shall be reset to 40 seconds;
or(d) fewer than 10 seconds remain on the play clock, in which case it shall be reset to 10 seconds.

One thing is for sure the refs tried their best to get the game in Dallas favor. Even with all the penalties, I saw what they were doing.
spotting that ball just enough to make it 4th down… lol deebo was over the 1st down line.
that loss is on the cowboys staff.
Head coach is a piece of sht! I’m so thankful I knew this before the game started and bet accordingly.

I know on the clock rundown and the 1 sec t.o. should have been .38 sec. then they added 2 sec to make it .40 sec.

@thorpe
That would account for 4 seconds as the play clock was at 29 for the review.
Not sure about the other 6 seconds, but I definitely appreciate your input and research.

Yes. Went to punt at 38 secs, got a penalty and poof there was 40 seconds.

How about on the beginning of that drive. Dallas d lineman got called for defensive holding on a running play and they stopped the clock. The game would have been over even before this.

Little Jimmy doing a QB sneak on 4th and an inch and the ref called a penalty on #71 of SF (I think) for not being set before the ball was snapped. On replay he looked set to me.
All of that drama and giving Dallas more chances to win the game turned me off and took the joy out of winning my moneyline parlay.
