Thanks all.

Last night is a great example of why raw stats are counter-productive to handicapping.

I read in another thread that "the Saints lost despite dominating the stats".  I think anyone who watched the game understands that there was possibly 2 minutes or so of gametime when the Saints had a higher probability of winning than losing.

There is a big difference of game situation that gets taken out in adjusted stats.  So saying that because one team got 407 yards and the other got 330 doesnt tell the whole story - and can be very misleading to base future handicapping off of.  The quest is to boil it down to useful information - not just assume that the team with the most yards wins.

Yep. Those 2 early Jags turnovers only lead to 3 Saints points, but made the score 7-3 instead of 10-0 or maybe 17-0.....
