How in hell will Campbell have his guys focused on a meaningless game when they know they will be playing for all the marbles next week? I don’t care what the coach says or how much he tries to motivate them. The players are human and will see though his act and react to the situation accordingly. Human nature will take over and by the 2nd half and they will be mentally checked out.
On the other hand, it’s impossible to back a Niners team that has quit on the season and is on mental vacation. Will they show out one last time on national TV against a SB caliber team and the class of the NFC, or will they embarrass themselves like they did against the Rams and Dolphins? Hard to tell, but they are the correct side in a battle of disinterested teams.

Totally agree. I wonder going forward what the SF brain trust will do in terms of signing Purdy, will they be in rebuild mode now? Injuries really bent them over this year and yet there seems to be another self destructive cloud permeating this once powerhouse of a team. What is it BB?

Id agree with you but that loss to them last year still hurts. Everyone knows they should have been in the Super Bowl. They want revenge regardless if it’s not meaningful on paper.

Campbell says/promises they going all out for the win.... He didn't specify for the full game.... He can slowly pull starters as he wants.... Imagine if they lose a starting OL or Gibbs/Goff/ARSB to injury tonight
That isn't how super bowl winning teams have ever operated. Find me one example of a team pulling starters the 2nd last game of a season. You don't play scared if you want to win and most teams who try to sit guys end up messing with their momentum and flame out in the playoffs. However it is still a possibility they could do that.
To me, it won't really matter if the Lions are only half interested. The 9ers are done, the Oline is ravaged and so is their skill position guys. They don't have anything to play for either but unlike the Lions they are just not good. I'll take a Lions team in 2nd gear over anything SF can put out there.
They had a 17 point lead over a full strength 9ers squad in the NFC Title game, they could certainly do the same thing to the current version which is way way worse, pull the starters 2nd half and still win.

You guys do realize Dan Campbell is the coach of this team right? He’s the most aggressive coach ever and would never rest in a meaningless game. Lions win easily. The 49ers don’t even have a running back.

@NutinButtLove Next week is for everything...what if Goff gets sacked and breaks his leg tonight...so they could be 15-2 instead of 14-3? For momentum? But Campbell says they going all out for the W Lions should win and probably cover even without starters
Next week is for the 1st seed. I argue that isn't for everything. You think Dan really care about seeding and taking the easiest path to the superbowl?
What guarantees Golf doesn't get sack and breaks his leg next week? How about in the playoffs?
What good will being the 1 seed be then?

It's a "stay away" gm imo other than maybe a live play. Just too many unknowns especially how Campbell handles the situation with the added factor of SF being so beat up with nothing to play for. Campbell would be a fool not to at the least sit out every starter who has any kind of nagging injury &/or has had a chronic prob of any sort. But who knows what he'll do?? My guess is he'll go with most if not all the starters to begin with & play it by ear as the game evolves. How can you do anything but bet live in that kind of scenario? I've got the Lions +9.5 as the final leg of a teaser & don't even feel great about that.

The point is the game is effectively meaningless (lions win tonight they do win the 1 seed in the odd chance that the min-det game ends tied)
If he breaks his leg you at least want it to be in a game that mattered....
