BB will you get your Joe Montana jersey out of mothballs to wear during the game? Or were you a Steve Young man?
I wonder if Joe will go to the game, no doubt Young and Rice will be there. I wonder if George Seifert will make the trip...he is 79 years old now?
Lancer, I grew up a Niner fan with Montana being my favorite QB (I had a love/hate relationship with Young) but the only jersey I have left from those days is, ironically enough, Dan Marino's. He was my second favorite QB. Still recall that SB against the Niners, which people are comparing this one to, with Mahomes as the second coming of Dan Marino. Except for the fact that both players are/were wildly talented, I think they are very different.
Anyway, the most important thing to point out regarding your post is the effort Shany and Lynch have made to connect this younger generation of Niners to the old guard (something that had been missing for a long, long time). They have made a concerted effort to have guys like Young and Rice mentor or give advice to some these younger players (Jimmy G, Samuel, etc) so that the entire team can feel like they are part of something bigger (history, tradition, a winning lineage) than themselves. I think that is a big reason why this team has an unselfish attitude, and does not care who gets the credit as long as they win.
