They may set it a certain way and it may insinuate something but theres never ever a lock based solely off a line. In other words, saying "The Chiefs is clearly too easy" makes no sense. Its not rigged and its not foretold. At least I certainly hope not. These are human beings about to go out and play a football game. Theres a human element, etc. Anything can happen.
In any case I hope people understand what I'm getting at because I'm not sure how many points I can be awarded for clarity here.

Someone earlier said the books won’t know what to do if the chiefs win Told him I’m supremely confident they’ll be able to pay the light bill at the end of the month

If you play enough, there are games they comes to the wire and both sides are holding their cards n sweating it out. Didn't the whiners were up 10 in the 4th n cover till Det came back with a TD to cash Det ticket?
I give credit to lines maker. While they may not see the future entirely, they give out lines that seems like a futuristic scoring. It's a science and there are people doing it for a living who make lines for Vegas. They need to get it right or they will be giving early buyers the best odds on their mistake.

Lines arent "made" by bookmakers. A bookmakers job is to set an initial line that they think will get 50% action on each side. Then they adjust it if they are off. When lines are made by the betting public, there are always going to be inefficiencies in that market. Your job as a bettor is to spot those inefficiencies, and take advantage of them. The concept is very very very easy.
Thats the biggest fallacy, that bookmakers want 50-50 action when they make the lines.
Th goal of Vegas when they make the lines is to GENERATE ACTION.
There are no inefficacies in Vegas. They have access to every piece of data, and much more than the public has. They have inside contacts on injury updates LONT before the public. They spend 100's of millions of dollars on IT. They spend more money on IT than anything else. HAVE PROPGAMS THAT tell PEOPLE WHO TO BET ON, Imagine that! You think they are worried ?
They also have data on something the public does not: Public tendencies. They know exactly how much is gambled on each type of bet, each team, and each segment of their customers. They track customer data,
Ever wonder why you have to pay up to take the Cowboys?
If Vegas put out the perfect line on every game,, it would LIMIT action.no one would gamble.
Vegas does not want 50-50 action at all, itS NOT THE Goal, as they know the vast MAJORITY of the public cant hit 5-% of their games.

@JimmyGape Have you seen this forum man.. assortment of some of the dumbest people alive .. they can't even process what you're saying .. they don't understand lines or how they are made
This clown likes to talk shit about everybody because he thinks he’s God by going 52-13 or whatever the fuck. Everyone has their own approaches and you’d shit your pants if you knew what I knew about the nfl. I hit the niners against the packers to win by 1-10 pts +165 and 1-6 pts +240 (in game). Only something I have done every situation it has presented itself. Close to the vest though because what we all don’t know could fill a book. I told your ass to stay humble and now you’re flapping around the forum like you’re Billy Walters. Clown.

Bookmakers manipulate lines one way or the other due to a variety of things.. whether 50/50 action.. or liability of money coming on one side... but also 100 dollar sharp bettors can move a line on some games.. books have their sharp bettors labeled..
But sometimes books will pick a side.. it is the so called (trap game) trap, like people are referencing.. Vegas can live and die on one side sometimes.. they will make money regardless 90 percent of bettors are losers longterm...

It doesn't take near the technology and access to inside information to make a line as you think it does. They certainly do not spend "100's of millions of dollars" on anything related to making pointspreads. Anybody with a copy of The Gold Sheet Power Ratings, and some knowledge of how the public reacts, and overreacts to team's recent performance can make a line and be within a point of the actual line. It's pretty basic stuff. The line is definitely made to draw equal action on both sides, and if it doesn't; they adjust it. However, it's not a big deal if it doesn't balance. There is enough random events during a game that can swing the score to one side or the other, so that the books know that with the vig, they will come out on top more often than not. There are inefficiencies in the market, and the oddsmakers know this. The vig will win out most of the time. The process is not nearly as complicated as you think it is.
