The hotter team is the New York Giants. No doubt about that. They have the "superior" defense playing at a legit level right now. They have a QB who is playing as good as the rest. But they will still lose the game. The Patriots have 2 weeks to prepare for this game, which is an eternity for an elite head coach like Belichick. Yes the Giants, have a sick front 4... but lets not forget that the Pats have only given up 32 sacks the entire year where they ranked 9th in the NFL. It isnt like they are going up against an inexperienced St. Louis Rams line. The Patriots have been here before.
Brady will have his opportunities in the pocket. And he doesn't need a lot of time either... THAT'S THE KEY! He has 3 players in his receiving core that rank in the top 9 in YAC in the regular season. How? Short, quick routes with separation. We also know that it isn't difficult to get separation against the NYG defensive backs have given up the following:
361 receptions: 8th Worst ***
4417 Yards: 3rd Worst **
12.2 YPC: T 12th Worst ****
28 TDs: T 7th Worst ****
60 20+ Yard Reception: 4th Worst *
* amount = Patriots rank offensively in that category

Now lets compare some other stats
Giants INTs = 20
Patriots INTs = 23
Giants YPG/PA = 394/24.6
Patriots PA = 513/32.1
Giants FF = 13
Patriots FF =10
Giants Sacks = 48
Patriots Sacks = 40
Giants D TDs = 0
Patriots D TDs = 2
As you can see the numbers aren't significantly different on major defensive statistics (besides YPG allowed and PPG (But both teams were in the top 10 in PPG allowed)).
My point is that the Giants defense is NOT going to be a game changing factor like most feel it is going to be. Wasn't the Ravens defense elite as well? When it comes down to it, the Patriots can keep up defensively. Part of the reason the Patriots defense gives up so many yards and PPG is that teams are normally playing from behind since the Patriots can score so quickly (27th in TOP in 2011... yet they still won the AFC because of their OFFENSE)! The Patriots CAN have a balanced attack. They are so effective at passing the ball, it allows Woodhead and Lawfirm to move the ball nicely in the backfield. The Giants however, can not. They ranked dead last in the rush game this year. You can not be one dimensional in the Super Bowl, and plan on winning the game. You cant be predictable against any team, let alone Belichick who has been here multiple times in his career.
If you feel like Hoodie wont have his team prepared for this game, you are a fool. Lets not forget this is Eli Manning under center here. He looks like a gem in one game, but you put it in the spotlight, and he is just a rock. He has done it time and time again in his career. He makes poor decisions from time to time, and you can bet that the Patriots will give him some unrecognizable looks to throw him off and throw some erratic passes.. its inevitable.
On offense the Patriots ran 20 plays with their tight end in to block in their week 9 loss to the Giants. That will not happen again. They WILL spread the field and open up those tight ends for 8-10 yard plays all day long. Remember what happened when the RAMS (yeah the Rams) ran their hurry up against the Giants defense earlier this year? They panicked and had a guy fake an injury because they couldnt substitute and panicked defensively. You dont think Belichick knows this? You can bet your kids that the Patriots will go hurry up on multiple drives this game to wear down the Giants defense.
If the Giants can outscore the Patriots, shutdown Brady, out-coach Belichick, stop the short routes, and establish a rush attack they can win. If I can find a Golden Ticket in my Wonka Bar, I am going to a chocolate factory!
