Wow
let me ask you, if your down 2 possessions or 1, with 2.25 minutes less and winning team getting the ball, does the fact that you have to either onside and recover or make them go three and out Change??
It does not. So like it’s been said, you keep it a 1 score change because the basic idea does not change

Best part is OP taking Dallas but pretending to be on Rams.

If your down 15 points with 2 minutes left you kick the field goal because its the higher percentage play. You leave the lower percentage conversion to the last attempt. I took Dallas and I wish they had your logic but I've never seen your logic used.

Going for two on the first attempt is obviously the strategically better play as outlined by the more aware posters in this thread.
With that said it's way worse for the viewing experience and TV ratings as if they complete the two point attempt it's STILL a one possession game but if they fail to convert it's now a nine point, two possession game and alot of drama drops off for the casual viewer watching these games. I'm sure the NFL and the networks broadcasting these games as quite happy with the choice that the majority of bad coaches choose in these spots.

i was on the other side of clubdirt til i read his reasoning. it doesnt make a big difference either way, u have to score 2 pt convert and if u miss it ur almost certainly fkd. if u miss u have extremely small chance of winning, so clubdirts reasoning is correct so u have more time to adjust for a missed 2pt convert

Does anyone have a dirty feeling that McVay is the new Pete Rose? Going for the td at the end instead of the automatic fg?

It's been explained already but why do you leave the lower conversion attempt for the last attempt?
Take each post touchdown conversion attempt in a vacuum. Do you somehow make a possible second 2 point conversion attempt on the last attempt more often than you do on an initial attempt? Many of you are trying to explain that you'd rather succeed/fail later than earlier and it doesn't make any sense. You gain information in knowing you now need seven/nine points if you convert/fail on the first attempt. You gain nothing by just making it an eight point game.
