Will Garrett know to go for two if Dallas scores a TD down 15?

some questionable decisions by mcvay today but overall a good night for him.

will garrett know to do the right thing if they score here?

refs haven't been too good either.  cost dallas a field goal opportunity with that phantom in the grasp sack and they just showed an obvious hold on that rams td.

you go for 2 to tie, not the for the first score. that's pretty much been the tendency of all teams

of course.  garrett does the wrong thing. 

and aikman says it's the right call which confirms that it's stupid.

and since this is the nfl forum and objectivity is in short supply here, i should add that i have the rams -7.

for anyone who wants to know why, you obviously have to go for two once to tie.  you do it earlier because if you miss it, you want to know earlier rather than later so you have more time to deal with it.

Are you really serious . You don't go for two on the first touchdown. If you don't make it your down by two scores (9) points. You kick and make it a one score game. You still have a chance to go for two and tie the game if you score again.

so you're saying, if you don't make the two point conversion, you'd rather know later on the second touchdown when you have less time to deal with it than earlier on the first touchdown when you have more time to deal with it?  that just doesn't like smart football.

If they go for 2 and miss, takes life out of loosing team. That’s why they don’t. And I had Dallas

basic clock management seems to be more important than this idea of taking the life out of a team.

All I'm saying club dirt is any team would kick in that situation 100 out of 100 times. Like I said if they don't get the two, they are down 2 scores and do not have a chance to win.

any team that doesn't understand basic clock management and math would, which isn't every team, but is dallas apparently.  good for us on the rams. 

again, if they don't get the two, is it better to know earlier when you have more time to make it up or know later when you have less time to make it up?

less than 3 makes it less likely they can recover from a missed two, but the principle is the same-

more time to overcome a 9 point deficit >  than less time to overcome a 9 point deficit.

ok, i know this is the nfl forum, but other than the counterargument that "everyone does it" (everyone actually doesn't do it), is there a math or clock management based counterargument to posts 11, 14 or 18?

I had Dallas as well. AND at 7.5. I was hoping and praying, BUT of coarse I understand why they didn’t.  

Some people just shouldn’t wager on sports.

vanzack has had this discussion a few times and he was met with the same idiocy i am.  so, this discussion isn't new, but let me try and simplify it.

if you are going to be down 9 points (i.e. you missed the two point conversion), is it better to have more time on the clock or less time on the clock?  for you guys saying less time on the clock, what is your math or clock management based reason for saying that?

is it the people who understand math, time, numbers etc who shouldn't bet on sports or the people who are certain the way most coaches do it but can't articulate a reason why who shouldn't bet on sports?
