Harris is battling injury and is more effective on the pass rush.  if he is worked into the cover game I'd expect to see him in some mix coverages on Gates - bumping him hard at the line and then dropping into medium zone while most of the blanket coverage goes to Kerry Rhodes.  don't expect Ryan to try just one single thing when it comes to covering Gates.


Revis is giving six inches on Jackson, and both Gates and Jackson pose matchup headaches for any team.  maybe Revis is just that good, we'll see, but I can't expect him to just shut down his half of the field as Rivers likes to throw high...  maybe Revis' athleticism makes up for it, maybe it doesn't.


we can talk about 'can the Jets shut down the passing game?' all day, and reasonable people can disagree.  but if they do, or even if they limit it, what does SD have left?  they are a one-dimensional team and the Jets are THE BEST IN THE NFL, BY FAR against the pass.  anyone expecting SD to roll by double digits no problem isn't looking closely enough.

and even if the Jets fall behind early, what says they have to exclusively pass?  SD is down to their fourth string NT and the Jets have three pro bowlers at LT/LG/C...  Jets might just run wild against a defense that just isn't very good, period.

Every year there is a team that gets into the playoffs
and just beats the odds every week..

A team that should not be there, but is.

A team that wins a playoff game but yet nobody still gives them a chance to win again , and that is what we have with the Jets.

Very dangerous team in my view, id be careful.
Sanchez is playing like a seasoned Vet.

lets remember the jets everyone seems to think are world beaters all of a sudden- lost 7 games this year- very beatable team

the 2 games they were 7.5 and 10.5 underdogs on the road they lost by 2 touchdowns each game -@NE and @NO both playoff teams with brady and brees both completing 67% of passes

however,SD during their streak has been content on getting 2+ score leads and continually allowing late scores to make games closer than they were.

 SD scored 20+ pts 10 straight home games and last 20 games overall

 revis and jets # 1 defense tough but look what a good Arizona offense w/ multiple weapons did to packers # 2 defense with Def POY Woodson on their side. SD will have extra week of rest

can the jets win?- of course but some of you been drinkin too much ryan koolaid acting like you're surprised the jets arent favored

i see a backdoor cover for the jets 27-20

packers got fat on stats against bad teams.TB ripped them for 30+

QBs actually throw at woodson, they dont throw near revis

Chargers win this one easy.....Jets lucked into the playoffs, there slightly above average...the Chargers are a VERY good team.

Hmm Jets are that great of a team uh. Not more than 6-7 weeks ago most Jet fans were ready to throw em under the bus. That tough schedule they had the last 6 weeks really woke ppl up. Lets see; they played a Carolina team that had lost all hope,Buffalo(no comment),Atl at home with a 2nd string QB and lost, Tampa(please),Indy on a lay down and Cinci on a lay down. Sure earlier in the year they held NO to 24 but also gave up 30 twice to Miami, played Tenn. in the middle of their 6 game meltdown and beat up on Oak. and i believe split with NE. Now i understand you play whos put in front of you and its not the Jets fault.   They are rated the #1 defense in the afc. But come on you dont believe the weather and the soft ass schedule had alittle to do with it. They beat Cinci in the playoffs and ppl are touting em as the best team that ever played. The reason i bring this up cause my team(Packers) also had the #1 defense in the nfc and got a spanking worth 50 points handed to em. And much like Ariz. SD has the same kind of offense. There are alot of simularities between the Pack defense and the Jets, the soft schedule being the most profound. IN short dont put to much stock in these stats its not always what it appears to be. GL whichever way you go.

here's the thing. The people that know football know that the Jets will cover 9 points and may very well win the game. This is a FG game. The guys that haven't a clue about football that just take things as face value (Chargers on a hot streak, far better team) will just give their money away to the books..

The Chargers are NOT that good. They are up against a team thats got to the playoffs from 4-6. That was given a second chance by the Colts. They will run with that chance. Will the Jets win the Superbowl? Doubtful. But no one will blow them out.

Chargers have Philip Rivers and Vincent Jackson as there main weapons. VJ will be shut down by Darell Revis. That leaves Antonio Gates and Malcolm Floyd. I think the Jets will key on Gates but I expect Floyd to have a monster game.

LT has been deceiving. Yes he is racking up the scores but NOT the yardage. I think the Jets D will keep San Diego relatively in check. Odd to the fact San Diego can't stop the run and the Jets have a awesome run attack I expect this game to go right down to the wire..

Norv Turner or San Diego in the playoffs. Up against one of the hottest teams in football. Lol will people ever learn..

If you can get Jets plus 9 its the play of the season

these threads are confirming every strong play...

people think the Jets will get blown out... but they are going to be shocked when the Jets don't just win, but absolutely dominate and shut down the Chargers offense, holding them to 17 or less...

people think the Cards are a live dog, but in reality they are the only dog that is not live... they have a terrible matchup with New Orleans, and are one of the worst teams to make the playoffs in the past 10 years...

the only remotely tricky game is the Cowboys game... Vikings most likely win, but since it is so close to call, you have to take the small value in Dallas on either ML or (+3) if you can find it...



Good call altho i think Cards will give N.O a run for their money.

turnovers are part of the game just like the 2 def/ST tds jets needed to beat indy

tampa bay had int ret for td, blk punt for td and 83 yd kickoff return in the packers game accounting for 21 of the 38 TB scored

packers fared pretty well after losing harris and campman for 2nd half season IMO

what exactly did you mean by "soft"?

Please that rating means nothing you  played Atl with no QB and you had a lay down with Indy and Cinci. and those games still counted for that ranking. I told you rankings arent always what they appear to be. Its when you play these teams, what postion that team is in at the time you play em, maybe weather factor, injuries ect. If you my friend cap this game solely on their ranking ill book your bets.  If you watched or wagered on any of the Bowl games and bet soley on rankings and stats your in the poor house by now. You neednt be an Enstein to understand this.

i'm not the New York Jets... i don't play for them or coach them... i don't even root for them unless i have money on them...

do you think i am on the Jets because i'm a homer?  i hate the fucking Jets!  i'm a Dolphins fan... but what the fuck does that have to do with handicapping a football game?

 

you are saying the SOS rating means nothing because the Jets played a few crappy teams... don't you get it?  it's not my rating... it is a rating based on the ACTUAL records of the teams they played...

the Jets played in EASILY the best division in the NFL this year... the Chargers played in EASILY the worst division in the NFL this year... the Chargers literally had 7 bye weeks... their actual scheduled bye week, plus Oakland twice, KC twice, Cleveland and Washington...

don't say the rating means nothing... it means exactly what it means... that everything the Chargers did this year was done against the 27th most difficult schedule... and everything the Jets did this year was done against the 8th most difficult schedule...

you can throw it out the window if you want... but you might as well just throw your wallet out the window, too... because if you actually think the Chargers are a better football team than the Jets, then you are a sucker!

How in the hell are the jets the hottest team in the NFL?  Chargers have won 11 in a row.  The jets needed to beat Atlanta in NY to stay in the playoff hunt.  They lost and got lucky because Indy and Cincy laid down for them.  The Jets played very well last week and won on the road.  Could Carson Palmer have played any worse?  The guy missed a lot of open recievers all game.  Rivers will not do that.  The chargers shutdown the Tenn running game in Tenn, I dont think the jets will be able to run the ball as well as last week.

First off where did i ever say SD was better than the Jets. You need to comprehend the whole post that was written. Put down your local sports section for a minute and maybe research when they played these hard teams, what was the mindset of some of these teams  when they played em, were there any injuries, weather factor, did they lay down, were they out of the playoffs,ect.ect. Simple question, if rankings mean everything you say then why did the #1 defense team in the nfc give up 50 points to Ariz.
