The NFL is suppose to be about being a professional, not in just skill level but acting like a professional in the sense of life.  The NFL take pride in teaching young kids the right way to do things.  If this was a high school game and  a team was up by 22 with 2 mins left and it was your kid on the field you would fucking livid when the other team goes in for the kill and scores again in a game that is over.  So what is the difference here?   The difference is that this is the NFL and they should be setting a higher standard of class and teaching these kids its not about personal records its about your team and doing things the right way in life.  I get it there was a defense on the field and Atl should've tried harder but there was ZERO reason for Orleans to drive and score.

If Atlanta didn't want the record to be broken they should have stopped Brees. There is no written rule that says a team needs to stop scoring because they are ahead by so much. In baseball you keep scoring, but you don't take extra bases. In the NFL you only play 16 games so teams should put up as many points as they can, that's what the fans pay to see.

For those of you who say high school or college players should do the same and stop scoring need to not watch the game. What if that's your kid about to score and there's scouts in the stands? Do you want your kid to stop running hard, or stop throwing the ball? Hell no, if scouts are in the stands you play 100% for 100% of the game. Tough shit if your getting smashed, play better, and get better.

EVERYONE WHO SAYS BREES SHOULD HAVE STOPPED SCORING IS A DAMN SOCIALIST. you whining ass cry babies need to step up, or shut up.

In 1984 when Dan Marino broke the record he threw 2 TDs in the 4th qtr against the Colts who were 4-11 at the time during week 16. Mia trailed at half and was leading by 11 in the 4th when he threw that last TD. He also broke 400 yards (404) to set the single season record with 4 400+ yard passing games. So why all the hate for Brees breaking his record? Marino was also named MVP that season.

u are cluless badlands.. If the Falcons who Im sure u probably picked (the real reason for your tirade) ,werent going for it on 4th down , 22points down ,with no shot of coming back with under 4 min to go in the game.Brees couldnt of scored the last TD

  Falcons should of punted .Saints prob. get the ball at there 20 get the 30 yrds for a great record ,thATS BEEN UPHELD FOR DECADES, they would only be at there 50 or so ,then they would of run out the clock. Did u expect him to not get that last 30yrds at home on monday nite football ???    CLULESS

He didn't break the record in the context of the game,he was selfish and went for an individual record after the game was decided. It was a bush league move imo,I may have cut them some slack if it was the last game of the year,but he has this week to break it. If it was a running back going for a yardage record,it would be fine to run the ball because that is how you run the clock out at the end of a blowout,you don't line up in shotgun formation up by 22 with 3 minutes left to pad stats and break a record. BUSH LEAGUE.Now that he has the record,lets see if he plays this week with nothing to play for just so that Brady doesn't pass him.

My humble opinion: I hate teams that let up, period.  This is professional sports, not little league.  Professional athletes/teams should not expect other teams to give less than 100%.  They are getting paid millions, as are the coaches!!!  If you are getting stomped, then improve your game plan, play, and execution!

As a capper, there is nothing I hate more than choosing the right play, only to have a team "put on the brakes" and allow the inferior team to manage a back door cover.  And, lets face it, the NFL gains a ton of its popularity because of people like us (cappers).

I am a life-long Steeler fan, and they are notorious for putting on the brakes when they have a lead.  I love the fact that Belechick and Payton don't coach the game this way.

As a former athlete, I find it more humilitating when a team has their scrubs in late in games because it means you are getting your arse kicked.

As for Brees, he isn't my favorite player, but I respect the guy (and no I dont know him) for the way he plays the game and for the way he is respected among his teamates and opponents.  I grew up in Pittsburgh and I can't stand Dan Marino.  The way I will always remember Marino is not the records, but his constant bickering and finger pointing at everyone else besides himself.  I can't stand Philip Rivers for the same reason.  Rivers reminds me of the new age Dan Mariino (only he isnt nearly as good). 

I wish more NFL coaches would bury a team when the opportunity is there.  Again, as a capper, if I am on the winning side then I want a team to be aggressive and if I am on the losing side because a team is running up the score then I simply picked the weaker team...

He did break the record in the context of the game...it happened during a game.  This is fucking pro football.  Atlanta is a playoff caliber team.  If they didn't want GB to score, they should play some fucking defense.  And no they should not have been taking a knee with 3 minutes left LMAO. If anything, they should have run the ball but I blame this on Atlanta.  If they didn't want that to happen, they could have punted instead of giving it up on their own 22...or, they could do what they get paid millions to do and that is to play defense.  I know of at least one game where Marino was throwing late in the game with lead but I don't hear you hating on him...

N.O was split in the second half on run and pass before Brees threw his last 4 to break the record. So to say they were continuing to throw is ridiculous. Would you want your team to just hand the ball over to the other team so they can ware out your D who has already been on the field for most of the second half. Atl ran 47 plays in the second half while N.O ran 25 plays 13 of which was through the pass and a few was dump offs.
Also N.O does have something to play for next week. No win is ever guaranteed in the NFL so to assume the Niners are going to beat STL in the last week is out of line (just by a hair however). What happens if for what ever reason NO game gets moved back in time and the Niners win early. Then Brees has no business suiting up for the last game and no chance at getting the record. So to fall within a pass of breaking a 20+ year old record TWICE would not sit nicely in his stomach.

If the Saints win and the 49ers lose, the Saints get a bye and a home game... last I checked, the Saints are an entirely different team at home vs on the road...

Yes, it would take a mini-miracle for the Rams to beat the 49ers, but hey, the Rams beat the Saints in St Louis.... the Chiefs beat the Packers.... anything can happen.  Brees will be playing this week because they have a lot to play for!

You guys are the same guys that were complaining that Brady and BB were running up scores,but it is ok for Brees and Payton to do it. Got it. Go ask anyone who plays football or any fucking sport for a living if what the Saints did last night was bush league or not and they will tell you it was.

I had the Packers and Falcons,it was a wash,lost $100 in juice. The Falcon game was decided way before any of this happened so it has nothing to do with my bet.

And yes I know who LT is,I went to many Giant games and witnessed the best football player ever(bar none) play. I have forgotten more about football than you will ever know.
