Vs. Steelers without gameplanning Vs. a SF defense that made Rodgers, Palmer look like average at home Vs. the #1 defense on the road Vs. the Ravens who finally played some defense vs. PIT and CIN
If you think Red Rifle choked L4 playoff games, this is the time to bet on the Bengals.
Hes descent but the problem is hes going to have to put up at least 24+ points to beat pittsburgh

1. Why? Bengals have the 2nd best scoring defense. Last time the Steelers benefited from AJ not being prepared and they scored 10 points off turnovers.
2. Why not? I have them as the #1 offense after the season. McCarron is no downgrade from Andy Dalton.

Maybe not a downgrade in the regular season but the playoffs are a whole different animal.. Dalton in a playoff game vs AJ in his FIRST start in the playoffs is a major downgrade IMO.. I know the history of the "red head" but same thing was said about Manning also before he won one.. Dont get me wrong Cinny maybe the bet here but AJ is raw.. IMO he will not factor much in the game anyway IF Ben is hot Pitt wins .. If he's bad Ben they lose. IMO this is the QB that will decide the game not AJ..Lets talk that not AJ being a major factor here he ain't.. Its all about Ben at the end of the day.. Not AJ... not Pitt's defense.. not special teams.. not Cinny's defense ... If Ben is hot Cinny is toast.. JMO..

I will hold off until later in the week to make a play but for me, a heavy lean to date on the Bengals.
Prior to Dalton being injured, the Bengals were a top contender, being mentioned with Denver & New England as the cream of the AFC.
Cincinnati is loaded with talent on both sides of the ball and when push came to shove, A.J. McCarron showed me alot on the road against the best defensive team in the league(Denver).
Offensive coordinator Hue Jackson is a quality play caller and will have a solid gameplan against the Steelers.
Here is a Bengals team feeling disrespected.
A better team than Pittsburgh who gets installed as a home underdog in the playoffs.
Cincinnati also has revenge from a 33-20 loss to Pittsburgh 4 weeks ago when the Steelers were playing inspired ball.
Public sentiment right now seems to be with the Steelers and that will only serve as further incentive for the Bengals to show up with an emotional edge.
The loss of DeAngelo Williams a significant blow to the Steelers offense.
As of now, i'll take the better team, playing at home with revenge and feeling disrespected over a Steelers team happy to have gotten in with the help of others.

if they pay any attention watsoever to who is installed as favourites by odds-makers then they have every right to feel sleighted...as stated above one of the leading regular season teams in the whole league all season long, great defense, talent all over the field now and playing at home versus a team that just scraped in,even tho they are hot and do deserve to be there.
i was shocked to see steelers as favourites...minus dalton i expected a pik em game at worst.

Have fun at the game....You have to be able to play defense in the playoffs. Storyline.......Bengals have never won a playoff game with Dalton so McCarron starts and wins

Suuma, I agree with you strongly about AJ/Andy. In fact AJ could be better too early to tell. But I don't see much of a downgrade if any. But Pitt has won 4 of the last 5 by 13,10,21, and 10. That's a trend worth paying attention to. And the one game cincy won was Ben off injury and losing Bell.

If you think that the Bengals don't know or haven't had friends or family members tell them, then you are sadly mistaken.
Believe me, when i tell you that this is something that they will rally around and use as extra motivation
I don't doubt a lot of them know about the spread.
But these guys are grown men and deal with spreads all the time. A -2.5 spread with AJ McCarron/backup is disrespect? After losing playoff games year after year?
I think the bigger motivation would be getting out of an 0-6 playoff hole under Marvin Lewis. But that motivation can also turn to fear. Certainly Big Red has been a choke artist.
But in the end does all this matter? Interesting.

Scal, the Bengals never had the personnel they have this year. People always say the Bengals choked everytime, but in fact they had the worse matchup everytime. Last season they were without AJ Green, Marvin Jones and Tyler Eifert for instance.
And this year they aren't without an AJ, they are with an AJ, and this AJ matters much more! And the results will almost certainly not be to their benefit IMO.

McCarron is decent but they've scaled back the offense and have been
fairly conservative since he's been starting. Their plan of attack has
been to run the ball consistently, allow their defense to play field
position and take a shot occasionally. I have no problem with that
particular strategy. However, I don't really think that's going to be
as successful against the Steelers.
The Bengals will likely
have to take a few more chances if they really want to win. Given their
track record, I'm reluctant to back the Bengals until Marvin shows me
he can win an important game, which he's proven he isn't very good at
doing.

WAIT! The line will go up by gametime, I think it'll get as high as 5 or 6, then you can get Bengals +5 or 6. You're also an idiot if you think my Bengals will win big, this will be a close one, or Pittsburgh will run away with it. I bet 35% of the fans at the game will be Steelers fans (always is). I'm going to the game too, Saturday night, it'll be crazy!
Good luck on your bet, just my insight though, and I'll be waiting til Saturday to place my wager on my team (**alert** Homer going to game pick)
THE NATION WILL BE IN THE HOUSE.... NO DOUBT... AND THE TERRIBLE TOWEL IS POISED TO STRIKE... UHHH HUHHHH YOU KNOW WHAT IT IS..... BLACK AND YELLOW

I think The Steelers win and win big. 10+. But I agree, taking the Bengals at +2.5 is bad. Thats going to jump to atleast +4.5, maybe higher.
Why?
Pittsburgh has looked downright subpar in their last two games, versus two third string QB's and teams with a combined 7 wins. They struggle mightily in the secondary, and could be without DeAngelo Williams as well.
Cincinnati has been extremely consistent this year on both sides of the ball, and Mcarron is 2-1 in his starts. With his only loss coming at Mile High to the top seeded Broncos, in a game they essentially gave away in the second half.
The whole thing with them not being able to show up in the playoffs has been wearing on them for a long time. Do you really think they haven't been chomping at the bit to have another shot? Last year they were decimated by injuries in that Indy game. There was very little they could do. The only playoff loss that was a downright choke, was the San Diego playoff loss.
They are the better football team, they are at home. This is not the same Steelers team that made those deep runs. They are very undisciplined defensively, and unbalanced offensively. As you've seen the past two games, they are very capable of going into an offensive black hole.
There is no way, that Pittsburgh runs away with this.
