No......the team is making the statement about what he brought to the team (dressing room etc) after one game...actually before the game to be more accurate.

And of course your comments are not based on what occured after one game - your comments are based on months of analysis.  You can't have it both ways.

I kinda told \johnny that if the Leafs beat Jersey that iwouldn't put the radio on for at least 3 days.  I had to step out last night and i put it on Leafs talk 640 with Andy Frost.  There were guys calling in and almost cryingTheir voices were breaking.  Truly hillarious material.  According to the resident experts, Brian Burke has now replaced Jesus Christ as the saviour of mankind.  He will make good what has been evil for the last 43 years.  All this after just 1 game.  This thread is proof of all the insanity.

  Do you think the team will be the same in the summer as it is now???? I have a feeling there will be some more changes before then freeing up some money.

Hey Danger....another Leaf hater.  I know there is a ton of work left for Burke to get this team turned around and be competitive. I just can't figure out why most of the haters think that this deal was horrible for the Leafs when they really never gave up much to get a good dman.

I said it last night and I'll say it again...this is a new era Phanuef will carry this team just like Leaf icons have,

mistakes are always glorified because of ones status but its not a matter of mistakes its what he'll make up for in it so many other way . I just hope he can remain healthy. even then,  the table will always be  full of support, ,

 

other than that, kabs is outta here unless were pooched in early march, gotta play like .750 hky till then.. 

and good for him this time he'll get treated the way they should have treated sundin and prolly have a great run and end up somewhere where he might get a legit shot.

I said Dion was bad long before he came to Toronto.

And why do you take what players say to the media at face value?  Do you expect them to say anything short of "were happy to have him...he's a great guy...blah blah blah".

Have you ever heard a team say anything negative about their new guys haha....come on.

One game doesn't constitute a shift in culture, nor does his presence as of now anyways.  Komisarek was supposed to be that guy and the Leafs were fighting and being super physical at the beginning of the season and where did that mentality get them?

Even if you build a great team, you still need luck and a very hot goalie to win a Stanley Cup. The Leafs have one scorer/Kessel and two d/men in Phaneuf and Kaberle. They are a last place team for hockey reasons and the fans deluded themselves with false hope every year. Ooops, make a mistake, second most delusional fans in Sports..forgot about Cubs Fans.

Listen this thread needs to honestly shut the FU*K up.  First of all.... I can speak for the real LEAF FANS.  I know there is a lot of dumb fans that we have... that as soon as we win...they say there is a stanley cup coming.... well I got news for all of them.. there isn't.  This team is not trying to win a cup.  They are re - building and giving it a five year plan.  I do think that if anyone thinks the leafs lost out in that trade yesterday that they are crazy.... That was a great first step and I look forward to watching Pheneuf grow as a player.  He is young and has a lot of talent. 

I am 21 years old and have watched the leafs since I was a baby. I am a die hard and I do not ever get ahead of myself.  My family has had seasons tickets for 45 years.  We are all disgusted.  All the organization thinks about is money money money.  The majority of the fans are retarded and will fill the building no matter what.  Tickets prices since 1999 have gone up 500%!!!

Listen... the bottom line is yes the leafs have a lot of dumb and retarded fans who like to jump on the band wagon and talk shit right after one quick win... bottom line is this team isn't going to do anything for at least another 2 - 3 years.  Like I said I am a die hard fan and love them to death.. but I also dont live in dream land... I live in reality...

We all love our teams and we all have our stupid fans...That's Hockey... there is great guys in the league.. and there is absolute goofs in the league... it's the same in the stands!

I hate to sound like a broken record, but do you even realize just how few players the Leafs actually have under contract for next season, or that the guys they do have under contract (something like 10 - in other words, half the roster) are already locked in for almost 2/3 of next year's salary cap, with the defense and goaltending accounting for almost all of that? Are the Marlies that loaded that it's going to be Kessel, Grabovski and a bunch of minor leaguers up front? Maybe if Brian Burke is lucky he can get a solid 2nd liner for Kaberle, but he has no other assets he can realistically move, and not enough cap space to sign a big time free agent.

I admire your loyalty and passion but at least try to look at things from an objective point of view.

Burke is at least a real general manager and got the better part of the deal. I went overboard, people have a right to be fans of any team for any reason. I'm sorry I called Leaf fans morons. Mea Culpa.
 
At least they are fun to watch...unlike a lot of teams of the league.
