Caps for the Cup

I think the weight of the world has been lifted off the Caps shoulders after finally beating Pittsburgh.  I think they ride the momentum and bring home the Cup this year.  Tampa is a great team but they played a young Devils team and an overrated Bruins team to get here.  Let's see what they do against a real team.  If they get to the finals there's no way they lose.

Enjoy your Caps series win. There will be no cup for them but BOL on enjoying the ride.

There's no way they will lose to Vegas, Jets or the Preds? Interesting.

Doubt it. Tampa is too fast and deep. 

At this point I wouldn't bet against them.  They just beat the defending champs so to say they don't have a chance to win it all is ignorant.  If they get by Tampa I can see them beating any team the west has to offer.

it all comes down to goaltending and i trust holtby more than alphabet.

The Penguins would have gotten dismantled by TBL .. PIT clearly looked gassed from the past 2 Cup runs 

I don't think they stand a chance against Tampa and even less of a chance against whoever comes out of the West, imo.

I liked jets but I think they did blow it . Now I think Nashville is the team to beat. Just my opinion

I don’t think the Caps can beat Tampa simply because the Bolts are very deep and very fast.  Tampa in 6 or 7.

So the Cup has to go to a traditional hockey town ?  Yes lets fire up the 8-Tracks and watch replays of Gordie Howe and Bobby Orr.  Nonsense, spread the beauty of pucks everywhere. 

Fair to the hardcore fans....no.....but they know those fans will stay no matter what.  Kind of like Leaf fans. 

The Lightning are a carbon copy of the Penguins the past 2 years .. think they ultimately win the Cup 

To the guy who commented about the caps D the reason they beat Pittsburgh was because of the D, they shut down Crosby and malkin for basically the whole series. 

And about the part where the NHL wants certain teams in the finals I don't buy that either...coming out of the full year lockout we had Carolina vs Edmonton and the year after Anaheim vs Ottawa.  Hardly the premier matchups.

The Caps did not shut down Crosby .. the Penguins got nothing 5on5 from anyone not named Crosby or Guentzel 

Only thing Tampa has over the pens is a better D core. CAPS shut down the entire roster of the pens outside of the top line, which the CAPS top line matched in production. Everyone on here saying CAPS are done are the same one's saying it against CBJ and then PITT. PITT is obvious because of history and their current teams talent in general. Pitt is one of the deepest teams down the middle. When you have bassard on your third line I think it speaks for itself. That should tell you with a healthy backstrom the CAPS are damn good down the middle as well. Not to mention CAPS beat the pens as we all know in a elimination game with No wilson (top line right wing) and no backstrom (2nd line center) also no burky! Good chance they have all three back for game 2 if not game 1 (except wilson 1 game left on suspension) I believe this CAPS team is just as deep as tampa and it will come down to goal-tending. My $ is on CAPS going the distance and bringing DC its first CUP!
