why not wait for losing teams to lose 3 games first save yourself some steps

For example; we are playing the Islanders to lose. If the Islanders win 3 straight and head into Philadelphia they will likely be large underdogs. We ran the NHL numbers for the 2009/2010 season and had numerous winning results using the $10 wager. The profits would have been much larger using the true Martingale system, but we would have tested our bankroll on a couple of occasions. (And that is also something we fully understand; the teams we picked will all go on a streak at one point or another and we may be playing $320, $640 or more in a single game.)
Thus we have decided on a hybrid wager following a loss that incorporates traditional handicapping methods to determine the wager amount. It will be between $10 and Breakeven +$10.
