The 2nd Round begins Monday March 6th. The battles will last 7 seven days ending on Sunday. Matchups will be posted on this thread tonight.

2nd Round Preview

Masterone vs Unstoppable Force

The Champs vacation is over and he's faced with a serious 1st Round matchup with the always tough Unstoppable Force. If anybody can end the Champs reign it will be Unstoppable. I can tell you this the Champs conservative approach will not work with Unstoppable Force. He will need to be War Ready when the bell rings.

PhillyFan vs WBellhaven

This is another great 2nd Round matchup. PhillyFan had a great 1st Round but WBellhaven is battle tested and has gone up against very tough competition in previous Battle Forums. Can PhillyFan keep the hot streak going against WBellhaven? We will see but this is one going to be a great battle.

TeeLocke vs Grambus

TeeLocke has made history by being the 1st Female Gladiator and she had a great 1st Round. Now for the bad news. This matchup against an angry Grambus who now has a 2nd life after almost being eliminated in the 1st Round doesn't bode well for TeeLocke. On the other hand Teelocke finished the 1st Round with the highest win pct at an incredible 76.1%. She was very conservative and Grambus has seen this movie before with Masterone in the Championship in Battle Forum IV. TeeLocke better be prepared for an intense battle if she wants to advance to the Quarter Finals. Grambus is on a mission and he is most likely one of the most dangerous Gladiators in the Tournament.

Ds0589 vs Upset City

It's another great matchup with some history. These 2 Powerhouse Gladiators met back in Battle Forum III and Ds0589 Defeated Upset City badly. Upset City is now looking for some payback. Ds0589 or the Vampire as we call him has the reputation of being hard to eliminate and just when you think he's dead he's not. He has comeback so many times in the Battle Forum that's how he has earned the nickname the "Vampire". Upset City is an Ex-Champ so he knows what it takes to win these battles. You don't become the Battle Forum Champ without being tested and getting tested is what will happen in this battle. Both Gladiators are veterans of big battles and this is just another great battle to log in their history.

24Secv vs Thedeakon

The newcomer 24Secv will now get baptized in Head to Head combat Gladiator style. Thedeakon is another Gladiator that has been through the wars. Thedeakon has been denied twice after reaching the Quarterfinals. He's determined to go all the way now and it's unfortunate that 24Secv has to face Thedeakon at this time. 24Secv did have a 60% win pct in the 1st Round and he will need to bring that into this battle.

SixBanks vs Mondo

This is another battle where a newcomer will be facing a Powerhouse. SixBanks made a name for himself in the 1st Round and his reward will be facing an Ex-Champ in Mondo. Mondo was our first Champ so he goes down in Battle Forum lore based on that special place. He's vicious and can literally wipe out Gladiators after a few days of blistering attacks. SixBanks did well in the 1st Round hitting at a 63.1 % clip. But he was very conservative and as history has shown us being conservative doesn't win you many battles when we go to Head to Head. But we can't forget that Masterone did use the conservative approach in Battle Forum IV to win the Championship. Mondo doesn't do the conservative thing. He likes to get a big lead and then pummel his opponent. This is going to be an interesting clash of styles.

Manny vs Taylorsallstars

Manny had a great 1st Round and has seemed to learn his lesson from his 1st appearance in Battle Forum IV. Now Manny will take on another newcomer in Taylorallstars. Taylorsallstars was solid early on before stumbling a bit down the stretch. Whoever wins this battle will be in rarefied air when they go to the Quarterfinals that's for sure.

Degosfinest vs Crushalot

Degosfinest has been to the Semifinals twice in the last 3 Battle Forums and he is arguably the most dangerous Gladiator in the field. But if Degosfinest wants to get back to the Semis again he will have to earn it against Crush. Crush is the Gladiators Gladiator. He's always willing to get down and dirty and will not back away from any Gladiator. It's been awhile since Crush has made it to this level so he wants to make it worth his while. This is going to be one of the toughest battles we will see no doubt and whoever comes out of this victorious will be a force to be reckoned with.

Unstoppable falls prey to Masterone's tactics

Masterone is back doing it again and driving Gladiators crazy. Unstoppable came out swinging while Masterone just stood there listening to the crowd chant his name while Unstoppable couldn't phase the Champ.

If Grambus thought this was going to be a cakewalk TeeLocke put him on notice that it's going to be a long battle with the crowd cheering for her wildly. Grambus has been in high profile battles before so this will test his mettle.

Ds0589 is attempting to eliminate Upset City just like he did in Battle Forum III. Upset City is seeking revenge for that lost and got off to a bad start on Day 1.

THEDEAKON PUMMELS 24SECV

Thedeakon opened up a can of whoop A** on  24Secv as the capacity crowd cheered him on. Thedeakon has brought in his own cheering section from Canada to root the Gladiator on to victory. 24Secv will need to get it together fast or this could get ugly. 

In other action SixBankz continues his conservative approach and it's working. Mondo is having his hands tied and can't get any traction on his games.

Taylorsallstars is beating the crap out of Manny at the moment. Taylorsallstars knows that it's going to take consistent effort to make it to the Quarterfinal.

The best battle so far is between TeeLocke and Grambus. These Gladiators are slugging it out to the delight of the crowd. TeeLocke flew in her own cheering squad and these ladies are making noise. Grambus only has a 90 point lead and that could easily disappear if TeeLocke can get hot.

Seeing as I'm home for the next 4 weeks, I figured to watch   and pick?!!! some of these  NCAAB  in the afternoon.

Of course  the games we pick AWAYS  get off on such a good start!!

Today I picked Wyoming(18-13) -4 1/2 against  Air Force(11-20).

Of course Air Force starts  20-0 run from  the start!!

What else is new in the NCAAB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Masterone has ended the suspense and won his first game, taking ASU over Stanford. He didn't even need the points. MasterOne is a counterpuncher, watching his opponent for a mistake, then seizing that opening to apply more pressure. Definitely belongs in Slytherin.

Would someone help Crush? I believe his armor is holding him down since he fell off the platform today.

Last night, Crush came out swinging, and swinging, and swinging. Taking a page from the Johnny Utah playbook, Crush felt it was his day! Reminding many of the Ali Foreman bout in Zaire, Crush threw 37 blows, landing 16 and was standing with his hands at his sides as DegosFinest struck only one blow, but it looks like it may be fatal, as Crush 820 points on the night and is almost 1,200 behind with 4 days to go. 

TeeLocke didn't follow Crushes lead, but the results were almost as bad. Having one of those days we all dread, The T dropped all 5 picks while Grambus went 3-1 to finally put some distance between he and Tee. Against a competitor as solid as Grambus, this may be too much to overcome. But seriously, Grambus, Lamar?

WBellhaven started a comeback last night and, had it not been for Syracuse, this would be a real dog fight. PhillyFan overcame his local knowledge in the Lehigh game to win his other two games and limit how loud The Bell tolled to only 80 points in his comeback effort. 

In a battle that is suddenly very close, Mondo decided to see if Sixbankz could defend against an onslaught of blows. The strategy worked, as Mondo struck enough blows to keep Sixbankz covering up and playing defense for an almost break even night. In the only Battle with both competitors in the hole, Sixbankz still leads by a little more than one win.

I was with you on Lamar, Grambus.  I thought it was actually one of the better picks yesterday.
If you follow some of these picks from the "Covers  experts", I notice they are wrong more often then right.

Taylorsallstars and Manny55146 circled each other all night, but neither could find an opening to strike a mortal blow. For the night, Taylor picked up 20 points as both competitors ended up one game to the good, but Manny had to pay a little more juice.

Masterone selected yesterday as the time to strike his first blow, and it landed. Following the strategy of being a counterpuncher that he has used in previous Forums, Masterone continued to open his lead over Unstoppable Force. Realizing the stars have been aligned against him, Force slowed the bleeding by selecting (and losing) only one contest. At this point, the Unstoppable Force needs a BIG change of luck to get back in this contest.
