Ponting probably also WANTS world peace and to cure hunger, and maybe even x-ray vision, but what he wants and what's realistic are two totally different things.

A 5-nil whitewash just isn't realistic and isn't going to happen with the current group of players Australia has to pick from.

Providing there are no disasters injury wise between now and november, this will be the best England team to hit our shores in quite a while imo. The major hurdle for England will be coping with the rigors of a long tour to Australia - the heat, the crowds, the pressure ect. If they can overcome those "outside" factors and just play their best cricket here, they're an even money shot at winning it, if not the slight favourites imo.

Disgraceful what happened today. If the ACB had any balls he would be sacked for his antics with the umpires.

I thought the first thing you learn as a cricketer is to accept the umpires decision? Clearly he is a man under a pressure he simply lost the plot. Time is up Punter, you had a great career but piss off

You can understand why Australia are so hated around the world. Their general sportsmanship or lack thereof has been poor for a while now even when they were dominating. What happened today was embarassing as an Australian supporter.


Also what the fuck was Peter Siddle doing talking to Dar as well That hillbilly was fielding at fine leg when the incident happened, why the fuck was he getting involved.

Rod I am not sure where it comes from it certainly is not cultural (even with the multicultural aspect). But cricket seems to suffer from it worse than any other sport. As an Aussie I also agree it is embarassing. I don't care if and how we win.

Nothing will happen and even if Ponting loses the captaincy he will still be in the team. At worse they might send him to play a shield game. These players are on big yearly contracts so the ACB wants them playing.

As for Ponting maybe he will star a few more commercials and have some current ones reworked. The Swisse commercial for example.

Ponting: "Some times on the field I get the need to chuck a spaz at the umpire and over rate our team. That is because I take Swisse. Doesn't do anything but at least I can blame it one something. So take Swisse so you too can take the piss."

totally agree, he's been a wonderful player for many years and will still go down as one of our greatest but now 36 it's time to move aside and let this team breath with the new youth and talent around because it's the only way in sports that you can succeed.
