So the opening weekend we have some very close contests in the NBL and the opening 2 games the spreads were covered by literally half a point and 1 point. The totals continued to fly over as per last season apart from 1 game which was the final game NZ vs Cairns.
Melbourne United are just getting back home after their 1 point loss against OKC in a World Friendly. They have to play Adelaide again in Adelaide which was the opening night match-up.
Every single game this week in the NBL is very hard to cap IMHO. Low lines and early season. Melbourne jet lagged no doubt, Sydney also might as they were in Utah just over a week ago, came home for the opener and now over to NZ and then returning back home for the Hawks. Crazy schedule. The Bullets also head over to USA shortly to play the Suns but they have no games this weekend which is a big help I guess but they must play twice next weekend then to make it up. Cairns have lost Jawai for at least 12 weeks so big loss there for their game vs the 36ers.
The WNBL has some awesome games I cannot wait to watch.
I have never seen the league so close IMHO, this will be a tough year to cap no doubt with all teams looking decent. Expect Perth to bounce back possibly vs Bendigo and also Adelaide but both tough matches. Townsville vs Canberra should be a great game but I think Townsville will win that at home. Waiting for some WNBL lines.
BOL everyone

Thanks Eastcoast. Will be looking into this match-up shortly. Cairns coming back home from NZ and the 36ers coming up from Sydney. Both won on the road as dogs. Not sure if Adelaide can win again on the road but the Taipans lost a key player for 10-12 weeks.

Missing some key big men, I think the size of the 36ers and their offensive weapons will be too much for Cairns. Taipans play awesome at home but I really feel as though Shorter, Moore and Sobey will be too much for the Taipans. They only just played on Sunday as well with travel back home across the Tasman. The 36ers have had some time this week to rest and get ready for this game before heading back to home for Melbourne in 2 nights time. They need to take their chances and give me the coaching of Joey Wright over Fearne any day of the week.

The Kings play a fast tempo game and the Breakers can rebound very well which will create plenty of 2nd chance points as hopefully contact so we get plenty of free throws. Gaze, the Kings coach has put his players on high alert saying if they don't start winning games then they will start to see some changes happen. NZ were awful 2H after a fairly decent 1H against Cairns the other day which resulted in a loss. For this to get over, we need both teams to score 80+ at least for this over and the Kings allowed 85+ points seven times in their last 10 road games last season. The coaching hasn't changed, their starting line-up almost remains the same and the NZ do have a few new guys in their line-up but I do expect a high scoring game for this early Friday night blockbuster where both teams are gunning for an early season win.

That was too close... After the 1Q that total should have flown over... The Kings cant get their act together at all and that trip to Utah to play the Jazz looks as though it is still having major issues on their bodyclocks and fatigue.

Now that total is currently sitting with Sportsbet but I have seen other books as high as 154.5. Regardless, I would still take the over because I think this total clicks over 160. The Fire team is built to play hard and fast. The Capitals have some very good players in their team as well. I expect points in this game as the Fire would want to open up their home game with a good big result IMHO but the Capitals will give them a run for their money but I cannot fade the Fire at home.

Last nights WNBL play just didn't get there.. Both teams poor to start the game off and it looks as though Canberra may struggle on the road offensively this season and do ok at home..

36ers have been playing really well of late against the Kings and Taipans but I feel as though they caught those 2 teams at bad times. Sydney just got home from Utah and the Taipans just got back from NZ and both teams lack an offensive structure right now. Melbourne have been home for 3 days now after getting home from OKC and now they have even more confidence after their 1 point loss against OKC. Feel as though the last time they meet last week where Melbourne won by 2 points was closer than expected and the 36ers hit some key shots towards the end but I just think this is a time to take Melbourne in this game. I got the ML at $1.85 and the line is -1.5 at $1.90 so will lose the 5 cents in every dollar I bet just to take the ML instead.

Dandenong Rangers @ Sydney Uni Flames: Rangers +7.5
Finals replay from last season where the Flames took over and won nicely. The Rangers have had some time to rest whilst Sydney are coming from Perth after an impressive win. Now the Rangers had a tough 1st game against the Boomers who are red hot and tipped to win it this season. Flames do have some great WNBA players but still I think they will miss Leilani Mitchell who ran their offensive show last season. Love the fact that Rangers signed Mijovic from Perth and I expect this game to be close and Rangers to cover the line.

Thats the Melbourne I think we were all expected to see this season. Will be very careful fading this team now on because the American trip is now out of the way and their schedule isn't too bad at all either. They have the depth as well + they are missing Goulding also who will slide nicely back into this team's rotation..

My pick was Adelaide and im in shock that melbourne looks so good already at the start of the season. My bad
I think Adelaide were just in a bad situation tonight Kriscar. They gave it their all in the very first match and then also on Thursday night to beat the Taipans. 36ers shot the ball badly 1Q and then re-grouped 2Q but then they were just buggered. Still think they are a good team and will make top 4 but geez do Melbourne look good
