The law of averages is a layman's term used to express a belief that outcomes of a random event will "even out" within a small sample.

The gambler's fallacy, also known as the Monte Carlo fallacy or the fallacy of the maturity of chances, is the mistaken belief that if something happens more frequently than normal during some period, then it will happen less frequently in the future; likewise, if something happens less frequently than normal during some period, then it will happen more frequently in the future (presumably as a means of balancing nature). In situations where what is being observed is truly random (i.e.independent trials of a random process/baseball game), this belief, though appealing to the human mind, is false. This fallacy can arise in many practical situations although it is most strongly associated with gambling where such mistakes are common among players.

Statistically speaking, there is no reason to expect the reversal of fortune today or tomorrow or on any given day. In practice, what I see time and again when somebody goes on a nice run, the number of followers increases exponentially as does the number of trolls. All that hype leads to too much pressure on the "hot" capper and it is not easy to deal with it. Let's hope clover does not get rattled, especially after he has a bad day or two (and that day will come at some point).
