1)Saints are so Jekyll and Hyde. I love Payton but he can out think himself. Let Jameis cook, dammit.

2)Who'd have guessed both New York teams would win outright this week?

3)I should have known Zimmer would lose to his former offensive coordinator. The Vikings continue to underachieve.

4)Even a new coach can't stop the Falcons from losing games in vintage Falcon fashion

5)Did the Texans even have an offensive possession today or did Culley just punt on 1st down every time while waving a white flag on the sideline ?

Really no choice but to take the Patriots tonight. One of the bookmakers said "We're not so much about equal action anymore as we are confident in standing by our numbers. We liked 5 at the opener and we stand by it. The extra points are a tax on the people who continue to play the Pats." Also the summer lookahead number was -3 to -3.5. That's at a time the oddsmakers knew TB would be very good and the Pats might be bad. Difference is the Pats are definitely not bad.

6) Very impressive away wins from the birds, not the Dirty ones. Red and Hawks.

Hugh who seems to be looking through a crystal ball, warned of the potential letdown spot for the Rams based on their celebrations last week vs. Tampa. I like that Zona team. Not sure how long they can keep this up but they're fun to watch.

Seattle much like Baltimore and New England just have winning cultures that transcend the talent and the numbers. Coaching is so important but still underrated especially in gambling circles. 

Hard to believe that at one point the Steelers were 11-0 last year. The wheels have come off since then. They are going to finish in last place by a couple of games. 

Drew Lock stinks. 

Bears alone in 2nd place. Somehow I don’t think Mr Rodgers is overly concerned.

My line tomorrow night is LAC -3 (15) for FG, and -3 (05) for 1st half. Is there a first half stat that I’m not aware of to explain that? 
Speaking of the Chargers, I don’t flat bet, not even close. I’m on LAC tomorrow. Big. Hopefully didn’t jinx myself by writing that

Just hoping to escape this week close to even.

Not sure how much I'll be able to cap week 5, I'm leaving for Bay De Noc Michigan on Wednesday and fishing till Sunday.

I’m surprised that Minny lost. I didn’t get a chance to watch much of it. Was Cousins bad, or is the BWS’s defense that good? 

Do not anoint the Cards yet. They are good, and in the drivers seat, but they caught the Rams at the right time. Next week they have SF at home. Will be interesting to see who starts at QB for the 9ers. This is a line to watch. Could be a live dog.

Jets and Falcons play in London 

Both teams need a vacation to try and forget the first 4 weeks of the season. Maybe some time to catch a soccer match and see how proper defensive strategy can lead to a scoreless draw. 

Kind of sort of really like the Redskins next week. Pick 'em line. Yeah I'll pick DC who just got the win they really needed to establish some confidence going forward. Get right spot for the defense against Saints 1 dimensional offense.

I have pounded Dallas all 4 weeks. Not next week. I won’t lay more than a TD in a divisional game. Gints have some players. Enough to win? Probably not 

I like Mac Jones. He stays calm and goes through his progressions well. They have no running game, no WR who can get open, and no imagination in their play calling. The kid will have a decent career, but he needs some help. They will be lucky to score tonight

 Well they scored. Jones has the look of a guy who already has a few years under his belt. Probably spent a lot of time watching Brady and Manning and studying them. At receiver, the Pats whiffed big time on Harry and bringing in Agholar after one outlier of a season in Oakland wasn't bright. There's no Welker or Edelman out there to eat up the gaps in zone coverage either. It's a weird offense but when it works with the right players it's amazing. If nothing else the Belichick defense is a joy to watch because it's always changing from one play to another.

That's a good assessment of the Pats offense, and their lack of talent at WR.

I'm all over the Brady's in the 2nd half. TB has been high with his throws all game. Time for him to put on a rain glove and also to keep feeding Leonard

 Awesome job by our Giants with the best record in baseball , gives you a nice shot on your future and I know you have a few other teams in the playoffs and I know this is football thread but wanted to give you the old GL chap before the playoffs start in a couple days,

told you the Brewers would not try to beat the Dodgers, they have a rested bullpen and starters going into playoffs, Giants only lost one more game than Dodgers in L-9 games, up by 2 with 9 games to go win Division by 0ne, great job. I might be going to another World Series.

Few thoughts as we close out week 4 ...

Tonight's game ... The Chargers are better than the Raiders. They have the better QB, the better WR's, the better RB (with Jacobs hobbled), and the better defense.

The Chargers are at home (although they will be a ton of Raiders fans there).

So why is this line only 3? Same reason the Rams were only 3.5 yesterday, and that is the emotional letdown spot. Rams defense did not show up yesterday, but just as importantly Stafford was BRUTAL. If he had just an avg game that game would have been much closer. If he played great, they could have won. IMO tonight Herbert plays great.

Cinci is 3-1, on their way to 8-8 at best.

Mia is a fraud. If not for a very fortunate late game fumble, they are 0-4.

WFT defense gave up 30 again! It's crazy ... but you are what you are.

Jim Kelly's got it rolling now.

Zach Wilson looked good yesterday. Jets still suck.

Brownies defense ... Wow!

J Fields played MUCH better. Still good fade material going forward if they can't stay healthy on D

Boys O is really good. D will continue to improve

Panthers are a solid team. Great coaches. I underestimated them after week 1.

Looks like the Trey Lance era has begun for SF. This will be very interesting.

I'm not putting a lot of stock into the Cards performance yesterday. They will be this weeks overreaction team by all the talking heads

Shrimp D looked good. Den losing Bridgewater extinguished any chance. Was there a penalty called on that play?

Haven't looked at next weeks lines yet, but I'm certain that the line-makers are on to the fact that Pitt sucks

Pats close to being 3-1 ... but they are 1-3. NE finally added a couple wrinkles to the offense. Cowboys showed the blue print for exposing TB's D ... don't even try to run the ball on them. Bucs secondary was questionable coming into the year, and now are missing 3 staring CB's 

Mac Jones completed 19 consecutive passes at one point, trying Brady's record. 

Hugh, I disagree about one thing you said about the Rams D. They did show up(for the most part), had the initial jump on Murray as far as pass rush goes. It's just that they weren't ready for his scrambling ability. I don't know who is really. 

The Cards are due for one of those games where Murray's heroics go bad.

I'll repeat myself again here to hammer a point. The Bears lost their best offensive player and best defensive player vs the Lions. If the Raiders come out of tonight's game unscathed, I think they name their score vs the Bears next week. Look ahead was -6.

 This is the biggest game the Raiders have played in a long time. If they win tonight they will be flat next week. If they lose tonight, Da Bears gonna have their hands full next week

Dallas is at home next week vs the NYG. Line opened at 8 already down to 7.
