— Good day to be a young quarterback……..
Green Bay Packers signed Jordan Love to a 4-year, $220M contract extension, including the largest signing bonus in NFL history. Love is 10-10 as an NFL starter, 1-1 in playoff games. Pretty good bank for a guy who has been a starter for one year.

Miami Dolphins signed Tua Tagovailoa for four years, $212.4M, with $167M of that money guaranteed; Tagovailoa has a 32-20 record as a starter, 0-1 in playoff games.

— By the way, had Jordan Love not signed and held out instead, Green Bay’s backup QB’s right now are Sean Clifford, rookie Michael Pratt and Jacob Eason, which is a nice way of saying that Love had a tremendous amount of leverage.

— If you’re wondering who will back up rookie QB Caleb Williams in Chicago, or start until he is ready, it will be Tyson Bagent (2-2 as a starter LY), Brett Rypien, who is also 2-2 as a starter. 

— Ravens’ QB Lamar Jackson has been sick all week, has practiced for only an hour; something to monitor, the stuff I read made it sound like a pretty severe illness.

— Panthers-Buccaneers don’t play until Week 13; they play again in Week 17. Dave Canales is the new head coach in Carolina- he was Tampa Bay’s offensive coordinator last year.

— Not sure what to make of this, but the Bengals were 9-8 last year despite Joe Burrow being banged up a lot, in large part because they had a +10 turnover ratio. +10 turnover ratios don’t happen every year, but if they can keep Burrow in one piece, they’ll be just fine.
