First of all you have mentioned a gazilion times your a supposed attorney...but yet your on here asking for advice and opinions from degenerate gamblers?
The points mentioned about the IRS are true... if you engage in contact with them you better make sure your own ducks are in a row. You do realize that sports betting would be considered inappropriate behavior for most state bars or ethics boards in the United States?
if you ruin or impact his job and lose the case you open yourself up to a nice libel suit. And I wouldn't be shocked to see him turn you into your state bar if you do this.
I find it hard to believe you don't know this person... why the hell would you loan money to someone you don't know and cannot trust? Really bad judgment in my opinion if its true.
I never believed the fact you were attorney based on things that happened years ago... and this post has gone a long ways to proving it to me. Can't imagine an attorney asking for legal council on a sports betting website... these are the types of questions you pose on legal message boards ...not here
Last thought:
What is $3000 to a silk stocking attorney who is a hot shot gambler? Is $3000 worth going in front of a possible ethics board? I would think thats 1 days work for you...learn from it and move on.
