A bit over the top as usual. Their gas prices have been 5 per and more much longer than we have seen and what do they do? They create transit locally and from country to country. We on the other hand wont spent money on nationwide transit or to even upgrade our grid, Americans are gluttons for quick sugar consumption always what is right in front of their faces check to check.
High gas prices are an invisible hand saying get a better solution, stop driving gas hogs and make better decisions. Id rather support consumer behavior by giving incentives for ride share and higher MPG gas cars, not just EV's and invest in metro solutions instead of a gas tax holiday or give corp freebies to Exxon and frackers to find more oil.

Leases are fixed irregardless of oil prices, so if these leases are in place then the payments are made and do not impact oil pricing at all.
You cant have cheap gas without either subsidy via interest rates or from government handouts to frackers and oil companies OR higher prices. Costs of exploration are not going to change in fact they likely go higher over time...so if you want energy independence then you will pay for it with subsidies or higher prices.
Fracking break evens as we recall are in the 30s to 50s so for even a big player to frack oil has to be that high just to cover fixed operational costs and that does not include discovery or any R&D prior, let alone the water table destruction that will be paid for by the government and from deaths of citizens.
In the end a lower than market price for anything comes at a cost to another group or at a sacrifice of some kind, so if you want cheap oil then it comes from destroying your theory about the role of government or it comes from environmental damage and water table pollution or it comes by making different vehicle choices, it does not come from blaming the government for high oil prices as that market is not government controlled.

@I_Need_A_Detox All of your points are not anti establishement they are just pro GOP and Trump agenda, it is not unique to Trump in the slightest. And of course globalism is capitalism because who controls the power when the world has no political barriers? Of course the power is controlled from corps, and corps as we know them derive from capitalism.
Border patrol is a divisive lousy topic, it pits people against each other, it is the modern day caste system from England that puts one class above another and makes another group seem less than human and not deserving of respect. I would appreciate the need for isolation if there was ANY focus on the "legals" who are sucking more from society than illegals ever do and not just making visual enemies for the sake of political posturing.
Manufacturing cannot return, corps make peanuts manufacturing here and in the past when we were making goods the prices are so bad that there was not enough sales and profits. The reason why manufacturing went away is the same pro business platform you support...corps seek profits, you cannot have pro corps and pro US manufacturing and low prices/no inflation. Those do not work together in any way or form. Trump was not original, or unique and there is no such thing as anti establishment outside of removing the money changers from the temple and that will never happen.
I live near the Canadian Border. They have border Patrol, they stop people from illegal entry, they have a LEGAL system for becoming a citizen. They don't hand out I-phones and offer middle of night flights.
When Ukrainian refugees have to fly to Mexico and cross our southern border to get in, IT'S FUCKED UP!

The cost of conducting business in this country is paid via taxes, oil companies are not allowed to take natural resources, create pollution, use infrastructure and benefit from existing and being able to conduct business, and so many times corps come and suck out their profits, leave and what is left turns into the problem of citizens and the government.
THAT is why I keep doing that...oh my word.

The implication is this turns into a caste style degrading of one group vs another, its a political ploy to get angry people to the polls. Like I said, if you want to rid the US of the scourge of illegals since they are sub-human then try to get rid of the sub-human LEGALS who are even worse, if the goal is to protect those good ole middle class gun toting tax paying citizens then address the filth which are actual legal citizens instead of this border disgusting attack on another person generalizing and demoralizing one group vs another.

And comparing mass transit from a country with over 700 people per square mile and 90,000 square miles to the US with over 3 million square miles and only 92 people per square miles is horse shit. Texas alone is almost 2 UK's.
And yes, manufacturing CAN return, never like it was but certainly much better than it is now.

Gun toting and sub- humans?? You sound like a poster from Texas we have here. Very revealing.
I never even considered the phrase sub-human. There is a LEGAL PROCESS to be become a citizen. You go through THE LEGAL PROCESS, you don't mob enter and we say OK here's a phone where you want to go we'll send you there. Seems like one political party doesn't like laws that get in the way. Took San Francisco to hit rock bottom before ousting their elected prosecutor, you know the one with both parents spent over 20 years in prison as members of Weather Underground. Maybe LA will wake up too. Society needs law and order!
You want to become a US citizen, you apply first, you get vetted, you meet the law's requirement, welcome to the USA, you may NOW enter.
You want to own a hand gun, and assault rifles too, you apply, you get vetted, meet the law's requirement, enjoy your gun, be reasonable, be safe.

I am saying your political party makes illegals to be sub-human, it has made many citizens hate, fear and despise others while ignoring much worse right amongst them.
My point is if you really are worried about making things better for the average citizen then you are focused on the wrong group. The ploy used by the GOP is to incite, anger, disparage and bring people to the polls. They make out illegals as the reason for all the ills of the average citizen when actual citizens right amongst them are doing much much worse.
I think that this is a ploy and a scheme without depth and is transparent as a political game to win elections and divide the country.

Your replies fit square into the profile of what I am describing, you fall right into the marketing scheme from your party and actually think of people as you post here over and over.
Illegals are not the cause of your unhappiness and 100% isolation would solve nothing as long as you are not fixing the problems that exist INSIDE your borders.
Nice generalization about what I like and what I want to do, its almost as if I am watching Trump rally the troops!

Transit has not been a focus when it could have been for the last 30 yrs. Just think if we had invested regularly to develop a nationwide transit system, that cost would have been annoying but then we have the way to give people choices and have the build out which actually opens up large section of the country and has great benefits.
Gas in the UK is right near 10 per gallon, they have been paying 5 for a long time yet we act like a petulant child throwing blame at the POTUS like this hasnt been developing for the last 3-4 yrs. It will take an enormous event to pop this bubble and get oil down to even 50 again, speculation traders are ramping this up knowing that shorts on oil are in bad shape so barring this Ukraine situation being solved I dont know what would change this direction for most of the summer outside a huge financial shock which would impact demand.
Manufacturing returning means massive inflation on those goods and services, UNLESS you want that nasty government to subsidize like they do with most farming goods, it cant be that you want USA jobs at USA labor rates, no government and low prices..corps dont make products at a loss for very long.

There will never be transit in canada/usa like there is in Europe....it won't happen...can't be justified financially so it will never happen
Plus the population is on the older side in canada/usa so there will soon be a smaller population unless people start having 5+ kids again....which is not affordable to 95-99% of the population anyways...so the transit, if built, would be used less just based on a declining population

This thread is a perfect example of today's world....
Everyone wants to be "right"
We just had a massive example with the covid vaccine...everyone that got the shot was "right" and everyone who didn't was "wrong"...the reality is there was no right or wrong the entire time....just people wanting to feel superior to others for the decisions they made....human nature in a sense

This way of thinking is similar to highway expansion. Down where I live about ten years ago there was a new highway segment constructed that connected two existing highways to service an area to the south and make it easier for people to reach other parts of town. Well back then the county decided to only approve a certain number of lanes to save costs and completed the project. Well since that time there has been TWO expansion projects to widen the lane number to meet demand. If you fail to take action that has future benefit to reduce current cost, more often than not the future cost is exponential and it is a short sided decision.
Most all large scale projects made from a non-profit group like the federal government have enormous costs and nobody likes to pay more than is required but if we had considered making regular progress over a period of time and step into it cost wise and time wise, the result has huge benefit and as I mentioned really opens up opportunity for people and corporations.
Down here before this segment was open it was a joke getting to certain cities and areas for people and business, now the area is filling in and corps are expanding their manufacturing facilities when before there is NO way that would happen. The US has next to no transit options from end to end or even state to state for the most part, that has not served us well and is tripping over pennies when the benefit is much greater, especially 30-40 yrs ago.

I mean there is only so much tax money to go around...just the reality of things...
Clearly your county either mis-judged the traffic the new road would see or they cut down the lanes and and allocated money elsewhere (maybe their pockets since they vote on their own salaries here in Canada lol)
The way you were talking I thought u wanted a train system or something along those lines comparable to Europe which just won't happen...

You cant keep using partisan comments because I directly and strongly state that my comments are not partisan...so spare me the projection schtick. My GOP comment was only to someone who replied with off topic generalization about me in a reply, making it not about the conversation and firmly entrenched in partisan sewage. The GOP as this thread was obviously about one party/group vs another does all I suggested...both parties do, but Mugg and many including you in this thread fall in line with your party agenda and your party has you right where they want you. Someone brings up a point and you have to deflect to the DNC and BLM or Biden or libs or whatever and not stay to the underlying topic its always breaking down one group against another. THAT is what the GOP wants you to think, act and vote...they want you to despise BLM, despise Biden, hate liberals, despise gender equality and those who support it. Whatever falls in line with the agenda of the GOP that is how they want you to think, act and vote and you are firmly following that agenda, they won and you lost.
When you start seeing others who disagree and have different opinions as people and not liberals or BLM or progressives or left or some category which divides, then you can make decisions based on people and those who you might not agree with but NOT with a political party agenda.

I didn’t even insult Wally, that’s too easy. Just broke down all his gibberish into the cliff notes version.
Calling Americans gluttonous and bashing people who drive trucks. Those same people mow his lawn, clean his pool, repair his house, and deliver food and goods. He’s an elitist who thinks he’s always the smartest guy in the room. Again, not an insult, just calling a spade a spade.
