Also, tell your dad about your most recent losses, and urge him to help you get help.  In my opinion, if he is going to cut you out of his life because of a debt, then he's a pretty bad father to begin with.

Kev,
 quit fucking betting.  Gambling is one of the worst addictions a person could ever have and one of the hardest to quit, tougher even then drugs.  Gambling causes more suicides then drinking and drugs.
Go get some help and put gambling behind you. If i was 20 years old again and could do my life over again, you can bet your ass gambling would not be a part of it. Dont believe the bs guys tell you about how successful they are at gambling, because the truth is only 5-10 percent of all gamblers make any money at this fuckin evil bad habit.
So just quit this shit before you ruin your whole life

I haven't gambled in over 2 weeks.  Man I'm stress free.   GOing to vegas in a week so I'm holding out till then.  NOt gonna bet bases anymore, too many games to chase.  GOnna wait till football which is my best sport.

Kev - you're a bad gambler. You're a bad gambler because in your inexperience you've let the emotions (both negative and positive) that surround gambling rule you (hence rule your decision making process).
 
Discipline is the fundamental cornerstone of being a winner at gambling, and there's no discipline without having mastered the (experience of the) emotions that arise from this activity, which is why most people lose when they first get involved - losing is the price paid during the (...potential*...) process of mastery of said emotions.
 
(*- I say potential because most people don't master this step, or even take it on with the self awareness of doing so)
 
The reason I say this is because you need to realise you are going to continue to lose if you keep gambling at present.
Read that again.
And once again.
Because before any consideration can be extended to your new 6000 debt, or your relationship to your father, you have to recognise to yourself first and foremost - Its time to stop gambling.
You cannot continue to subject yourself to this process, and if you do it will only continue to fuck matters up for you. You think it's a quick fix to your ills, when in fact it's only role left for you, at present, is to compound them, because you (clearly) lack that mastery (at present). So your first consideration is to stop making matters worse, which means stop gambling.
 
As for your other 2 problems, my unconventional advice is this - tell your father you have a new debt that's more pressing than the one you have to him. Tell him you're going to cease to pay him until you've paid off this new debt. Tell him you know what this could mean to your relationship, and that you don't blame him if he follows through on his threat. if he does, then let your actions from said point speak for you - pay off your new debt, dont gamble, and then once you've paid it off, go back to paying off your dad even if (1) he wants nothing to do with you and (2) says forget the remaining money you owe him.
 
Time to grow up, and learn what family means. Your father will come round if he see's you change for real. Even if it takes awhile (a long while).

Well pal it seems you are in a bit of a bad spot. First of all when I read this I can say I and many of us have been there. I remember being down 12k when I was your age and only because of luck I was able to bounce back and land on my feet. I never had anyone I could ask to bail me out and that is when I learned my first real gambling lesson. NEVER bet what you don’t have to loose or you will end up in real trouble.

 

Enough with the lecture already. The way I see your problem is you are going to have to go to your father. Yea he will be pissed for a long time but I am sure he would rather cough up some more coin than see you get hurt bad or worse. You are going to have to admit to him you have a real problem and start going to GA. My bet is he will be easier to face than your local book when you tell him you can’t pay.

 

There is a lesson here and I want all you young and even old timers to listen. Betting with a local bookie is very risky. Sure it seems easy but what happens if you get in over your head and you can’t pay. The problem Kev is facing is real and could happen to you. Keep your betting safe and keep it online is my advice. The online books never let you in over your head so they will never come and threaten you with God knows what. When a man talks to you about breaking your legs it’s not a good feeling.

2. work 20 hours a day, 3 jobs and 1 more on the weekend if thats what it takes to dig yourself out.
3. get direct deposit and ask your father to run your finances.
4. lose your book's phone number
5. you dont seem too broken up about this, if you arent you havent hit rock bottom, maybe you need your legs broken.
