The journalists — working for former Vice President Al Gore's California-based Current TV — were arrested March 17 as they were reporting about the trafficking of women.
The women won't be allowed to appeal because the case was heard in Pyongyang's high court, where decisions are final.
The report says the court “sentenced each of them to 12 years of reform through labor.”

12 Years In Labor Prison For Two Women For “Grave Crime”
North Korea’s state news agency says the country’s top court has convicted two U.S. journalists and sentenced them to 12 years in labor prison.
The journalists — working for former Vice President Al Gore's California-based Current TV — were arrested March 17 as they were reporting about the trafficking of women.
The women won't be allowed to appeal because the case was heard in Pyongyang's high court, where decisions are final.

unreal you are, it just wont stop with you. Every single thing that happens on the planet, you think Obama should be handling it personally. Really how do you know that the Whitehouse isnt working on this very problem right now? You dont. You just like to post garbage. I know President is supposed to stop living life and just sit around waiting for these people to get released. Get a clue

I heard they flashed the 'Obama Bat Signal' upon the night sky of Paris so Obama could change into his "Muslim Avenger" superhero outfit and streak across the ocean to Pyongyang and personally rescue those two women.....but sadly he wasn't near a window in the restaurant where he and Michelle were eating dinner...

There’s been a virtual news blackout at Gore’s TV Current, his on-line TV station has suppressed readers’ comments, refused to report the story about his own reporters. TV Current even posted a guard to keep the press out, as reported by the SF Weekly.
Now, the two journalists, Ling and Lee, have been convicted and sentenced to "reform through labor."
Then and now, the former Vice President remains silent.
He was also silent in March, through April and through May ....

The U.S. does not have diplomatic relations with North Korea a communist nation. U.S. interests in Pyongyang are represented by the Swedish Embassy.
Al Gore need to step and go there the journalists are his employees...........
Yeah ! the White House is working on it all right CDnumbers ...
Selig Harrison, director of the Asia Program at the Center for International Policy and who has advised the Ling family, says Gore is willing to go to North Korea to negotiate for the journalists' return to the U.S., but that the State Department has so far been unresponsive.
Harrison says the Obama administration has obstructed efforts to obtain the journalists' release because of "a knee-jerk desire to avoid appearing soft on North Korea...

Kim Yong-hyun, a professor at Seoul's Dongguk University, said the sentence — the maximum possible allowed by the North's laws — could have been a reaction to strong statements from the U.S., including threats of sanctions and putting North Korea back on a list of state sponsors of terrorism.
"I think this is the North's response to recent hard-line moves by the U.S.," Kim said. "But the sentence doesn't mean much because the issue will be resolved diplomatically in the end."
U.S. State Department spokesman Ian Kelly said Washington was trying to confirm press reports of the sentencing.
Kelly said the U.S. was "deeply concerned" about the sentences and that officials would "engage in all possible channels" to free the women.
sorry but this isnt day to day buisness the President deals with. Thats why we have all these differnt depts in govt, so stop blaming Obama for not skipping his meal and putting his superhero cape on. Heres an idea, maybe he should go on a hunger strike until they are freed.

Tell me what's happening. . what is it that you know ...for sure ????
Mean while back in the States after his big speech in Egypt and a stop in France, spent part of Sunday playing golf.
With his wife and daughters still in France, the president ducked out of the White House 90 minutes after getting home and headed out to the Andrews Air Force Base course with his clubs to enjoy a round ,with skies only partly cloudy and temperatures about 80 degrees.
It's nice to be King .............

A reporter asked Obama if his brief stay in France signaled a lack of interest in building strong ties to Europe.
Obama says he would love to be able to spend a week in Paris and enjoy fine dining with Michelle Obama. But the U.S. president says his schedule is tough and there are a lot of crises that need his immediate attention.
Two wars going on one in Iraq and Afghanistan, markets in turmoil, housing market sinking, jobless rate at 10%, banks going under, auto makers going under, North Korea testing nukes and inprisoning Americans , Iran about to do go nuclear , Israel and the Palistinians in turmoil .......
..and they we have the TOTUS out golfing, doing weekend dates in NYC, France, and pick up basketball games plus watching the finals...I guess he gave up bowling ..no time ....... too many crises that need immediate attention

lmfaooooooooooooo slim has got some balls posting about what Obama has been doing everyday, yet he doesnt like to mention what Bush was doing when hurricane Katrina hit New Olreans. I do believe he was out celebrating and having a good ole time, but i guess thats differnt. Also Bush took more vacations in his 8 years then any other President, but thats okay also.
These threads he keeps posting are pure bs
