The NFL watched all of Eminem’s rehearsals (and everyone else’s). If there was a problem with kneeling — which he did in rehearsals all week — someone would’ve said something.

Except that it's all premeditated for controversy in the first place. Just like jacksons nip slip.

We're any of the songs political in nature? Nope. Just party anthems. Did Eminem kneeling seem to be part of some larger political statement? Nope. It coincided with a Tupac tribute. Was 50 Cent, WHO OPENLY SUPPORTED TRUMP, kept out of the festivities? Nope. He was right there. There was nothing political about this performance. It was about Dre and Snoop, about Shady/Aftermath, about LA.

You sad old fucks are just looking for something to whine about. A halftime show. Normal dudes barely pay attention. You guys watched intently, just so you could come cry about it in a gambling forum.

63 year old white male thoroughly enjoyed the show. 

Most people I've talked to, all ages, all races, enjoyed it. There will always be those who don't like rap, or any modern music, but especially rap. I respect that. That's what the op intended. Just to say rap is crap music, if you can call it music at all. And most who chimed in afterwards seemed to either agree with that sentiment, or they said, "Hey, Iiked it." Some guys just wake up looking to be triggered. It exists on both sides. And the media on both sides feeds into. There have been books written about this very thing. I have recommended a couple well known such books. It is what is is. Chic will always stir the shit. That's what covers pays him to do. And triggered snowflakes will be triggered snowflakes. These dudes are crying about a halftime show. They're looking for political meaning where there is none. Party songs. Dancing. Every song performed was a hit song. None had political meaning.

I'm sorry 90s and 00s gangsta rap is probably the musical genre most associated with LA. I ask these guys for a different suggestion, crickets. It's because it's not about the music. These dudes just want to be triggered. Chic is in here posting clips of bands that aren't even actively playing to prove he likes other black music I guess?? WTF is that? Fire music, I'll admit. Says me. I'm in the industry and follow such things. Death hasn't toured in some time. Maybe a one off here or there but I doubt anything recently. I'm not sure they're even all still alive. I'm pretty sure I saw Bad Brains during there last time going arounda and that was easily 5 years ago. I believe Living Colour still tours. Festivals and small venues.

It's neither here nor there. None of these acts are big enough to play the Super Bowl. None are associated with LA. Death is from Rock City. Bad Brains is from DC. Not sure from where Living Colour hails but I'm pretty sure it isn't LA. There is no one genre of music more closely associated with LA than 90s/00s gangsta rap. I dare you to name one. Metal is associated with LA but other regions just as equally. The second wave of punk is associated with LA but other regions as well. Surf rock is more SoCal than LA. 90s gangsta rap is quintessentially LA. Even those who aren't fans, people hear Dre, they hear Snoop, they think LA. Who else can say that? Not even Motley Crue.

This is a tricky subject.

Being a true rapper or DJ at it's roots requires tons of talent. Trust me, I DJ'd for years, vinyl only. Blending house, 2 step, and garage via headphones only, and matching beats. Once CDJ's came out I quit. People with zero talent started blending/matching beats because the mixer had the bpm's digitally laid out for them.

Since then it's gotten easier to "DJ", anyone can really do it. Sets are not organic at all, it's very monotone.

As far as rapping, I can't at all. People who can truly rhyme continuously, smoothly, with a good cadence are talented. Not just anyone can do it. The problem though, is that there are a substantial amount of rappers out there that are not good, but still make it. Today's guys are slow as shit, they say that "trap" is a form of rap. I think it sounds like the hiccups. 

Dr. Dre is an outstanding musician. The production level on all of his stuff is top notch. He's been in the scene since the beginning, grinding sets on vinyl from disco, soul, house, and being a part of the birth of hip hop into the mainstream.
