Long time scroller but for the first time the other day I found some guy in the archives section named CollegeGambler (cg) that quit his job and moved to Vegas, and it inspired me to that. I love betting, I love winning bets, I currently have $12,790 saved from working and gambling and been hot, so tomorrow I’m quitting my job at jersey mikes so I can dedicate all my time and effort to capping. Ray Ray at work is always telling me I pick winners and then seeing CG who is from New Jersey, me at Jersey mikes, I knew it was a sign. I’m going to hit 50k by march madness and then the sky’s the limit from there. Staying in Ohio for now since sports books are allowed, but I see myself living on the Strip in Vegas in a few short months.
I work 10-3 tomorrow, then telling the boss lady I’m done, coming home and straight capping for the games!

Thanks bro, I’m so pumped but I’m also a little worried because the only sport I bet is college basketball. I’m a former D2 player and know all the ins and outs of college basketball so I seem to have a little advantage when it comes to betting it. I just hope I can learn the other sports betting techniques before the college season ends so I can support myself in the offseason. But I will cross that bridge when I get there

I wish you all the luck if you’re interested in doing that a former I don’t know where there is Division I or D2 hoop player is on one of our competitors. He’s on social media, Twitter and his I’m not real sure. If you need any tips, you can DM me and I’ll give you his name. I just don’t wanna get in trouble.

Good luck bro! I hope it works out for you, for the other 95% of us, it doesn’t! It’s only a hobby for me, and most of us! I’ve hit $14,000 parlays and been up $28,000 in two months, then lost all of it back. I could never be a pro bettor, unless a was a billionaire and could afford to lose big. Lol! Well, post your winners here and I hope you win! It’s always good to see normal people beating the books.

Bro, honestly, how fixed are so many of these college basketball games? I mean, how often were you point shaving and throwing games on purpose or fouling on purpose. I’ve had several people say that it’s really big on amateur sports, specially lower tier college basketball and football. I believe many games are fixed.

Appreciate the support bud. As far as I was aware we didn’t have lines on our games, I can’t confirm though but at the time it wasn’t on my mind. But I am sure it no doubt happens.

Trust me don’t do it. Early 90’s after college moved to Vegas with 300k. After 2 years lost my 300k and I was driving a cab making 200 dollars per day and betting at the LV Hilton every night.

Well, now, the gaming industry is in the tens of billions here in the US! Heck, it already was in the billions from offshore and Vegas and now it’s in the $30-50 billion per year or maybe more. It’s insane! I’m sure there’s so much fixing. Heck, the San Diego state game right now, they were yo by 21 with 5 minutes to go, San Diego state practically stopped trying at that point and only won by 9. The spread was +10 Nevada. So Nevada ended up covering, I had it a +9.5 and I thought I’d lost until I checked espn again and saw we were done by 11, so I watched the last minute. It seems fixed, thank God this time ir was fixed in my favor.

Gambling should be a side hustle. You will need a steady income to survive. Guarantee money = job. Not some 18 year olds putting a ball thru a hoop. I’m sorry but this will not end well for you. Learn from my mistakes

Even if u managed to turn your $13k into $50k by March, which I highly doubt u will get there, which is 3x in 2 months…that is still not a large enough bankroll to move to Vegas and be a professional sports bettor. It’s one thing to gamble on the side like you are doing now and have a job.. but when you are depending on it full time to meet your living expenses the pressure mounts. Also u don’t need to move to Vegas to be a professional gambler.. you are living and thinking of fantasy land. Vegas sucks when u live there and are losing and yes u will have bad streaks and lose… it’s one thing to go there on vacation and stay and have fun for a few days and not worry about anything if u lose. Different story when u live there as it will chew u up and spit u out if u are a gambler on tilt.

This is obviously fake .. no one is stupid enough to have 12k saved up and quit his job to make it at gambling.. you don’t have near the amount needed .. 12 will be gone in 3 months..
Also take it from someone who does this.. me and probably everyone else has passive income on the side .. I have 4 rental houses paid off and cherry pick rattlesnake jobs in the summer when I’m bored .. others have investments.. stocks.. you have to have more to fall back on .. also what happens when college basketball is over you need to be able to bet all sports and profit ..
then after all that was said.. how much do you need to be able to live off of a month ? Say 1500-2000 .. so you need to have pretty much at least 50 times what you need to live off a month save up in the checking/savings .. I wouldn’t do anything less that 100 times personally

I'm completely out of debt, have a good pension with large investments in commodities. This business is so tough to win long-term, it's a terrible investment!!!!!! I'm so leery of it, I play small as a hobby. This guy is a dreamer.

A few have chimed in…… I’ll give my 2 cents . Good luck if it’s your actual plan, I made similar choices in my younger years and they did not pan out as planned. IMO no need to quit your job right away especially with no plan after April 1st.
Sports betting is available now in almost 20 states, no need to move all the way to Vegas. Vegas is a great place to temporarily visit but living there is a different animal. It will take ultra discipline and meticulous planning to make it there.Unless things have drastically changed since I left, Vegas is tough grind out there. The betting lines are a lot tighter, they give out less incentives, and the betting options are minimal.
There is no live in game parlays, no live player props, not much options in buying and selling points on a line before the game.I’m sure the list may go on and on. Unless they’ve changed things recently in the last few years.
Vegas does not try to appease the savvy bettor unless you are a whale or special customer. They want to minimize every possible edge that you might gain.
Many have tried to go pro without significant planning. If you don’t have Six months of living expenses and 3 months emergency fund don’t do it.This needs to be set aside to have peace of mind with no paycheck to replenish your bankroll.
What’s the plan between April - August. Betting significant amounts on baseball requires a different nuance to your strategy, I would not just wing it.
Do you have other contingency plans in place Driving Uber / Lyft, playing poker, and or other revenue streams in Vegas set in place??
Before you make this decision really think it through
Keep Grinding ......
