i think the best explanation can be attributed to occams razor. meaning a rogue element that has his own interestes in mind and knows the current power dynamic of the nba and all its nuances ehrefore being able to do that shit and know how not to get caught. so he learned his lesson from the donaughy experience and revised it to just work totals. the end
I buy that.

the only problem with the occams razor theory of the rogue officiator is the inevitable "in the bag' theory that it gives rise to. meaning, once that ref partakes in aforementioned tom-fooleries and skullduggery, he is henceforth in the bag of whomever he had the transaction with previously. in other words, he has to keep fixing games at the behest of whatever nefarious organization he profitted from lest he be blackmailed and ultiamtely sold out, leaving him in a position of grave consequence. so the question is, do the refs get paid such a pittance that they would allow themselves to be ultimately owned in such a manner and risk losing a carreer? i mean, its not as glamorous as a nba player, but im sure a carreer as an nba ref beats being a plumber. so then we have to ask ourselves about the donaughy anomoly. and i think the answer to that was he was just a fucking idiot. he got caught up in everything and liked the excitement of the gambling aspect and forgot who had control of the scenario. i think hes the exception and not the rule. then again i may be wrong.

I remember reading a story about an online poker player who was able to see everyone's cards at the table. Basically, he was able to alter the programming code somehow to see the cards. He was such a fucking idiot, that he played so unusual and won so much that the players knew something was up.
Well, the pros were all friends and posted on the 2+2 board, and started saving/sharing hand histories. These guys were friendly with math (duh), and were able to statistically prove he was winning at an impossible rate.
I say that to say this... we need some hand histories (play by play with zebras) and statistical analysis.
Any math majors out there??

was leaning taking the under all day, but nba totals have really pissed me off lately so I decided to lay off. Then I realized Charlie M also liked the under and he knows his shit in terms of nba over/unders. It was also the only game left to bet on tonight in any sport and it was on tv. Went large on the under, but was too big of a box to watch until midway thru the 3rd. Watching under bets in the NBA with all the bs fouls drives me fucking insane. Needless to say, this game drove me bonkers. Put me in the shittiest mood ever. If there ever was a fix this was it. Think about it.....normal refs would be like jesus we have called 30 fouls the past 7 minutes maybe we should let them play for a little because this is ridiculous. Not to mention it was a 11 point game for most of it. Fuck betting on the NBA........ps I'm on the Magic-3 tonight.

these 'pirates of the carribbean' books voiding bets like they did during the 'supposed' tennis fix. It suits them fine except if they're on the wrong side.
The other thing everyone needs to keep in the back of their mind is this game in question and Donahey's fixes were all totals related.

I watched the game and you could see it coming. Bullshit. Utah shoot 36.7% and still gets to 104.And 86 free throws!!! between both teams. You got to be kidding right. I hate nationally telivised games

this is a bussiness man, u have to bet against where u think is most of the money involved, thats why i love to bet on small market places, remember this is a bussiness, not something to get rich easily.

I had posted this earlier this morning and someone pointed me to this thread.....

I am very glad I didn't make the under in the 2H od the Utah-Denver game a play last night. For anyone who watched it you know what I am talking about, the parade to the foul line that was marshalled by the refs was absolutely un believable.
86
86 is the number of free throws in the game...without those free throws this game never-ever- gets close to going over. Touch fouls, invisable man fouls, tick-tack calls you name it they called it or invented it.

I love how when every other person in this forum crys "FIX!" everyone bashes the hell out of them. But when the "HALL OF FAMER" MrBator says it's a fix IT MUST BE A FIX. You people are sad.

Mr Bator, I have to say I'm surprised with your post. I always see you going after people with "sure" bets, going with the public, or making these same type of complaints.
It is not a conspiracy. You have to research the refs when picking totals. Eric Lewis and Tom Washington have reputations for having loose whitles and for "taking over" games. Jason Kidd got fined $20K a few years back for making the same complaints. I believe Isiah Thomas and a few others had run-ins with Lewis too.
