Some days after my friend told me that it was the first time they played Touch of Gray since Jerry died. I was like oh, don't know the song but it sounded good.
I have a buddy who has an encyclopedic knowlwdge of old dead performances. He can hear a few songs and almost always tell you which show it was, even differentiating between shows with the same set list.
TIME TO BRING BACK THE OBAMA CAGES!

Dead were much more than a jam band and after their youthfulness of the 60's and 70's which they indeed were jam heavy they kinda settled into a groove. The painful truth is the last 5 years were fun but were seriously lacking.

"Sidenote on live performances, the acoustics of each individual venue also effect quality. Are there flown line arrays or is everything on the ground. Are the boxes Meyers, DBs, L-Acoustics, etc or some knock off chinesium. Where a person stands in relation to the sound system is even a factor."
I believe in this 100%. For most of the concerts that I have attended(there were many), I choose the seats right behind the soundboard guy. You can see where they are set up on the ticket map. It makes a world of a difference to hearing the best sound of the show imo.
My favorite band is Tool, been to 11 shows. The best sound I heard from them was at the Chicago Amphitheater. An old school opera house venue. Incredible acoustics.

The Del McCoury band. Their cover of
For what’s it worth would bring the house down.
"It'll be great for everybody, including other countries".

Not like us is the song of the moment which is why he became only the 2nd rapper ti win song and record of the year of the grammys. Also sending shade towards trump and America as a whole in the performance
Success is never final, failure is never fatal, and it's the courage that counts.

A Dead show wasn't groovey when Jerry was going through his Junkie phase.

I doubt anyone would argue with that.

Fun fact. I had a Tool bumper sticker on my car back in the day. I don't listen to them anymore, but used to be really into them up until AEnima. About 7 years ago my wife and I went to stay in Prescott, Arizona. We realized that Maynard Keenan's winery was in a small town called Jerome, about 36 miles north of Prescott. So we drove up. Not much to do there, but there was a quaint little downtown strip.
