But his plan to pay for that is alarming some mainstream economists!! an_getaway

Trump proposed sweeping tariffs on all $3 trillion worth of imports
into the United States, including a 60% tariff on imports from China
and a 10% across-the-board tariff on imports from other nations.

Recently, Trump doubled down on the threat,
saying he is now considering tariffs of up to 20% on most imports!!  surprised

In theory, the unprecedented tariff hikes could raise trillions of dollars,
funds that would help cover the cost of the tax cuts.

However, many economists WARN that those tariffs could backfire
    – badly! – by raising prices on American families (inflation!),
killing jobs, and setting off a global trade war!

Harris is better for future US economy.  Economists at Goldman Sach estimate that if Trump is elected, US economic growth would worsen from tariffs and tighter immigration to outweigh impact of tax cuts.  However if Harris is elected, new spending and tax credits would more than offset lower investment due to higher tax rates.

Harvard economist Furman believes Harris would be safer for US economy.  Trump tariffs risk a trade war.  His tax cuts would increase federal deficits.  Also he threatens independence of federal reserve in setting interest rates to handle inflation and unemployment.

Another economist Shirschikov of New York university believes US economy would be better under Harris for 3 reasons.  First, inclusive policies improve work force participation.  For examples, affordable child care and paid family leave.  Secondly, support for innovation in industries to improve productivity.  For examples, investment in technology and green energy.  Third, commitment to small businesses.  For examples, tax deductions and incentives that lessen regulation.

A majority of economists surveyed by The Wall Street Journal

    likely to reignite inflation.

50 economists answered questions in the survey,
28 of them said the risk of a return to high inflation levels
was greater under the plans proposed by the Republican

The survey adds to a growing tally of economists,
including 16 recipients of the Nobel Prize in Economics,
who have previously called attention to what they see
as the inflationary dangers of a second Trump term.

"While inflation is falling and manufacturing is booming
under President Biden's leadership, experts are sending
a clear warning" about what Trump's policy agenda
could entail, said spokesperson Sarafina Chitika.

No fluke that at least hundreds of economists endorse Harris.  She has stronger economic policies for the future.  Helping middle class Americans  while Trump favors the upper class.  She supports bigger children tax credits and medicare expansion to cover home healthcare for seniors.  Increasing housing supply and support for first time home buyers.  However economists criticize risky Trump policies as likely to cause economic harm.  Increasing tariffs and tax cuts for the rich.

Tariffs always trigger retaliatory tariffs.  Not only will imported goods cost more and screw consumers and manufacturers purchasing raw materials, exporters will lose ground vs. other countries.

Trump is a first-class imbecile.  No wonder he refuses to release his college transcripts.

"Stable genius" my bright blue ass.

Wall street journal poll reveals majority of economists expect higher inflation, deficits and interest rates under Trump policies than Harris.  Trump was lucky to inherit low inflation from Obama economy.  So his administration didn't have to do anything to keep inflation low.  Whereas Biden inherited pandemic supply chain disruptions that increase inflation.  However inflation has dropped from 9.1% to 2.4% the lowest rate in years.  Also survey of historians rank Biden higher than Trump in economic management.

Yale university study estimates that Trump tariffs would be a disaster.  Shrinking US economy by $325 billion annually.  Increasing inflation up to 5% annually.  Since other countries are likely to retaliate, tax revenue would be reduced by up to $1 trillion.  Average family would lose $1900 - $7600 in purchasing power.

Widespread unemployment during Trump's presidency helped keep inflation low during crippled demand from the pandemic which Trump branded a "hoax."  Naturally since he claimed it was a hoax, he did little to fight it which greatly exacerbated the catatrophe.  That is solid evidence that he is a sociopath with little regard for human life not his own.

America is facing an existential crisis with its crushing debt.

Trump is a huge spender on the military. This idea floated around of assigning Elon Musk to the debt, to cut away like he did at Twitter-X, is purposely vague and populist nonsense.

Inflation reduction Act needs to be a yearly budget event, and I fear Trump will abandon its major premises.

If he reduces taxes on the wealthiest corporations (worth over $1 billion) and scales back the IRS tax evasion efforts, the trade deficit will get much worse. The math does not lie and it is all red, and it may become too huge to pass on to another generation.

CNN reports that now 23 Nobel economists signed a letter approving Harris economic plan as vastly superior to Trump's.  Her plan offers higher economic growth with lower inflation and deficits.  Under Biden administration, US has the best economic recovery from pandemic of any country in the world.

After Trump wins the Presidency, all the "never Trumpers" should share solace with each other knowing that they will be able to blame the upcoming recession on him.

The next 4 years of this cesspool sub will be full of Trump hating threads on the he being the reason there is a recession in our Country.

    Hugs all around.

    an_police  surprised    Dow sinks sharply
          as Wall Street gears up
for possibility of a Trump victory

    New York CNN —

US stocks took a dive Wednesday

Investors have been increasingly on edge about
the prospect of former President Donald Trump
winning the election, a possibility for which Wall Street
has been preparing to a greater extent.

“The logic here is very simple: Candidate Trump
has called for a significant increase in import tariffs
to revive domestic manufacturing,” Steven Ricchiuto,
chief US economist at Mizuho Securities, said
    in a Wednesday afternoon note.
“These tariffs are seen as immediately raising the price
of consumer goods and, in the process, reversing the
goods deflation that has helped pull inflation back.”
