    Majority of economists say
    inflation would be higher
    under Trump than Biden:
    WSJ survey

an_light A new Wall Street Journal survey found that
a majority of economists polled believe Trump's
policies would be more likely to reignite inflation
    than President Joe Biden's would....
56% said Trump's policies were worse, while
just 16% of those economists said that of Biden's...

    and

51% of economists in that recent WSJ survey also
estimate that federal deficits will rise more under Trump,
who has proposed making his first-term tax cuts permanent.    an_speechless

Meanwhile, only 22% of economists think the same for Biden.

People in love with Trump economy are really in love with Obama economy which ended under his watch.  Trump didn't do much to change inherited trends in inflation, jobs and GDP growth.  However Biden inherited a damaged economy and lead US to one of the best economic recoveries in history.

Good governments are supposed to reduce deficits when economy is strong and increase deficits when economy is weak.  In recent decades, democrat presidents tend to have better economic records than republican presidents.

WOW!  Was not aware of these specific numbers as they occurred on the watch of the disgusting sex-offender/ fraud/ CONVICTED FELON.

And his downplaying and total mismanagement of the covid pandemic was even worse than I originally thought! surprised  No wonder the Nobel prize winning economists and about another 50 or so believe another trump regime residing atop what he claims will be a "unified Reich!" is looming as a disaster for America.

Gotta just laugh how the magas come out from under their rocks when bad things happen, but when the market has been soaring to record highs, you dont hear a peep out of these folks. Perfect example of their vile personalities they live their lives by.

Stock market is up 48 percent since biden has been in office.  Magas think the market will go up forever and if it doesnt, then blame biden, hunters laptop, clintons, obama, george sorros, bill gates and the rest of their bogey man they blame for everything.  Dont worry if trump (who is gods greatest gift to man kind) wins he will make it so the stock market never goes down ever again. He will make the stock market in his favorite words he uses on everything "big and beautiful"    The trump and the maga clown show rolls on

Economists worry federal reserve would be politicized if Trump is re-elected.  Harmful consequences if presidents seek low interest rates to boost short term economy to improve election chances.  That could risk runaway inflation.  For good reason, federal reserve has been independent in order to keep inflation low and maximize employment.

    @thirdperson

I dont think Trump would fuel inflation any more than Harris would or Biden or Obama or Bush Lite did/would do. Our political system guarantees all parties run massive deficits and that has been the case for 30 years, no party is fiscally responsible so the only difference between Trump and Harris is where the debt is spent.

The FED kept rates absurdly low for Obama, Trump and some of Bush Lite and that for sure has powered our stock markets, corporate profits, the real estate market, Bitcoin, commodities, it fuels innovation and exploration it of course pumps risk assets but it pretty clearly does not move inflation in the way they would want in either direction.

Key difference is that Harris won't interfere with federal reserve but Trump wants to influence interest rates.  Most nations have independent central banks.  Their systems defer monetary policy to economists instead of politicians.  Before federal reserve, recessions were more common.  International studies show independent central banks are more consistent in maintaining economic stability in the long term.

True.  He does.  Very much.  If elected.

However, publicly, he is lying and backing away from his prior statements due to intense backlash.

    an_speak  HEADLINES Thursday . . .

The Trump policy that scares economists the most

    New York, CNN —

[the convicted felon] wants to spend TRILLIONS of dollars on tax cuts!

But his plan to pay for that is alarming some mainstream economists!! an_getaway

Trump proposed sweeping tariffs on all $3 trillion worth of imports
into the United States, including a 60% tariff on imports from China
and a 10% across-the-board tariff on imports from other nations.

Recently, Trump doubled down on the threat,
saying he is now considering tariffs of up to 20% on most imports!!  surprised
