2017 Article: Trump admin ill-prepared for a pandemic

Remember that time when the people who are familiar with global public health prevention programs were alarmed at Trump's gutting of the CDC and other public health departments? Remember when he gutted their funding? Whew, thank God for the Washington Post calling it 3 years before it happened.

I remember those times.

The aftermath of Trump's failures ultimately ledt to over one million Americans dead.

I remember reading a 2015 statement from the CDC where they stated they were ready for the next pandemic with warehouse stockpiles of ventilators, N95's, and such. Funny there was no such thing.

Then I read lessons learned from H1N1 in 2009.  We can use nursing  homes in the next pandemic for overflow of infected patients. No wonder Coumo and Whitmer did just that!!

And then there was airline travel during a pandemic. CDC said airlines need to figure that out. Airlines said CDC needs to figure that out, NOTHING WAS EVER DONE!!

Now it's all Trumps fault.

Trump ignored all strategies for pandemic planning.

A Journal Sentinel examination of two of the reports HHS said replaced the playbook shows that the Trump administration ignored or contradicted key recommendations in both.

For example, the 2018 National Biodefense Strategy makes recommendations that, if followed, would have prevented the shortages of masks, personal protective equipment and medical supplies that plagued American hospitals when the virus was spreading like wildfire.

Polls show more Americans approve of Biden's handling of the pandemic than Trump's especially among democrats and independents.   Best comparison is not raw numbers but how US compares to rest of the world.  Under Biden, US accounts for a smaller percentage share of worldwide covid deaths than under Trump.  So relatively, US has outperformed other countries in 2021 and 2022.

The world was paying their fair share under trump, we at least paying something unlike under Obama and gestapo joe.  So of course countries getting a free ride will say so.  

 Polls show most Americans blame Biden's poor handling of the pandemic for all the deaths after his appt. Polls also show most Americans believe the country is headed in the wrong direction under Biden.

Biden is the worse President in my lifetime. Carter was better because he really cared about all the people in our country but also bad. Trump is the best since Nixon !!!

Then he paid for it because it probably cost him the election, which cost him his free immunity against all the tax and insurance fraud he has brazenly bragged about for decades. As far as self-owns go, Donnie Dotard earned the Chef’s Special of Self-Owns. Now he gets to face prison time instead of hamberder time

And of course you had nothing to say when Chump increased deficit spending to all time highs, while simultaneously slashing the corporate tax rate so the billionaires could execute more stock buybacks. It’s hard to tell sometimes if guys like you are just really naive, or intentionally disingenuous. Probably some of each I would imagine.
