From the New York Post today
It is all about fortitude. The people in the USA do to have the collective will-power to want to fix it.
By and large, if there were no jobs allowed to them -- they would not come and would go home. If they also knew they risked being locked up, they would not come. If they knew there were no benefits available, they would not come.
It is much easier to fix than simply putting up a wall. If a wall were put up and there was no conviction to maintain and secure it -- you would be right where you are now. If no benefits were to be had, no jobs, and threats of prison -- they would stop coming.

Agreed...enforce policies in place but for some reason we are not...makes no sense....why have policies and procedures if you are not going to enforce them...it's like these people have gathered their own Army and are infiltrating the country by any means necessary....sure, some are patiently waiting, but many others are not....there is a process to becoming a US citizen and always has been, so not sure why they feel like they shouldn't comply with the policies in place...and why come to the US instead of going further south if you are truly being harassed by guerilla fighters in your own country...why not go to Brazil or Peru or Chile....it's a simple reason....instead you make the trek all the way up from Columbia in hopes to get into the US...WOW!

100% agree...we have allowed this to happen by not setting the right measures and not making the difficult decisions...I have been saying this...stop with the handouts and you will see people fleeing this country...it will be hard to make that decision for some, but it is the right one to make....it's a start anyhow, which is better than what is being done now...

Because they are not true asylum seekers. They are simply taking advantage of an opportunity and are encouraged by the folks that want them there -- politicians and activists, alike. The rule is apply in the first country you get to, not when you finally get to the USA.

In an essence, grusome is giving people who are definitely here illegally in this country in California free healthcare at the tax payers expense...giving free healthcare to persons who are undocumented than to those who are legal citizens and cannot afford it...California is broke as all get up and is currently in debt with the Fed's at a 20 billion dollar plug due to the mismanagement of the funds borrowed during COVID and is unable to pay it back which has now become the burden of each business in the State to repay it. That is your reply to what ABooksNightmare posted ?

If they're illegal, they shouldn't be working. They shouldn't be here. They're illegal. The money doesn't exist for any of this.

Single-Payer Health Care Bill Introduced in Legislature
A bill that would enact a single-payer health care coverage system in California was introduced for the second consecutive year by Assemblymember Ash Kalra on February 7.
The bill, AB 2200 (Kalra; D-San Jose), would establish the California Guaranteed Health Care for All Act and enact a framework of governance, benefits, program standards, and health care cost controls. Notably absent from the bill is how the massive new bureaucracy will be funded. The Healthy California for All Commission estimated a single-payer healthcare system would cost the state over $500 billion annually.
Over the last several sessions, California legislators have introduced and reintroduced bills attempting to overthrow the entire state health care system and install a government-run, single-payer health care model.
In the 2022–2023 session, Assemblymember Kalra introduced two companion bills, AB 1400 (Kalra; D-San Jose) and ACA 11 (Kalra; D-San Jose), which were tagged by the California Chamber of Commerce as job killers. Both bills failed to pass the Legislature.
The CalChamber has opposed single-payer health care bills in the past because they proposed an extremely expensive and untested state-run health care system that inherently requires massive new taxes on Californians.
Californians need to have affordable health care coverage when they access their quality health care providers. Although Californians experience premium increases on an annual basis, an expensive and complete overhaul of the health care system is not the answer to insuring the uninsured and improving affordability.
Moreover, single-payer health care does not equate to free health care.
“The exorbitant taxes and costs associated with this system will systemically eradicate new jobs while driving out existing industries,” CalChamber Senior Policy Advocate Preston Young said. “The consequences associated with adopting a single-payer health care model should discourage the Legislature from pushing forward any such proposal in California.”
Health Care Coverage Is Nearly Universal For Californians
Through a patchwork of commercial and public options, California is closing in on insuring nearly 100% of its population — regardless of immigration status. According to data from the Department of Managed Health Care and the Department of Insurance, total health care coverage increased in 2022 by 4.7% — meaning there are now 35.9 million enrollees in California, which is a record.
The CalChamber 2023 People’s Voice survey, conducted by Bold Decision and Pierrepont Consulting & Analytics, found that 87% of voters report that they are satisfied with their health insurance (asked of those with insurance), and 45% report that they are “very satisfied.”
Among those with private health insurance, 78% responded that they would rather keep their private insurance, as opposed to switching to a government-run single-payer approach.

More ludicrous examples of California proposing beyond their means...a $500 billion dollar proposal for a State that essentially has no funds....instead of staying within their own budget, which they can never do, they want to reach back into the taxpayers pockets to support an outlandish concept....
More and more things are not privileged anymore they must be given...remember the old days in which things were earned and your status was based on that....it's line not keeping score in youth sports any longer and everyone gets an award so they don't feel left out
When I played sports we played our asses off and if we won it meant something and if we lost we felt it....that's going through the adversity of winning and losing....brings character....now-a-days it's a joke

Great post... sports in the big boy world still means something when you have winners and losers,.... but w the kids nowadays, everyone " deserves " a participation trophy. What a joke.
I live here in CA, and Newsom is a joke ! I can't understand how anybody votes for this POS, unless you're a criminal. I can remember when this guy was mayor of SF years ago, and I could see this guy was a " slickster". Now,..... I'm a wealth tax or reparations bill (this is the stuff they are considering) away from saying goodbye to this State for good. I'm a native Californian for over 50 years, and am pissed off at all the sorry ass people that have voted DEM and really screwed things up for the last 20 years. CA is such a deep blue state today it's not even funny.

I think what’s cute about all of this is that your premise is based upon a false assumption - that immigrants with others’ SSNs don’t pay taxes. We all know that when the state or the IRS receives taxes (payroll and tax returns) under 22 people for the same SSN, they keep all 22 payments. They don’t refund 21 of them, nor should they.

Newsom, like his predecessors, have just continued the spiraling effect here in California...it's a disgrace....did anyone here the NBA crew trashing on San Francisco last night in the All Star game....that's how bad it really is and most people think that San Francisco is some beautiful place on the water but the city is trash and littered with homeless and drugs that it is difficult to even walk around anymore...it's become dirty and uninviting....no longer a beautiful place by the sea....only up on the hill there is it worth a shit...anything below the hill is a gutter....when I was younger this place was something special, but it is just downright nasty...
Where you live out in the State Rush? I'm here in Southern Cali along the coast above Malibu just outside of Point Mugu...
California is a pure example of how political policies and agendas can just decimate a State....why it stays in control of these absented minded politicos is beyond me....this State needs a drastic change...imagine if this State ever flipped back to a Republican State....what would the Democrats do if they lost these now gifted electoral votes??? Would be very lopsided elections for sure....might be the time people realize that majority should win not some outdated electoral system...not relevant any longer, but California is in desperate need of change in some way regardless of party lines but it needs to start with shifting back towards the middle instead of how lopsided it currently is...just as it is across the Nation, all major cities are Democratic by a landslide...
California would just as much drive out businesses in this State rather than keep them here and they, as you stated, have driven out some very wealthy businesses because of their policies and not just those related to taxation...way too generous on other policies as well that hurt businesses....quite sad...
Newsom is giving it away like the State has it, which it does not, and policies like this Heath care is just a another notch in the proverbial political belt while expecting taxpayers to pay more for it....just shows you how clueless these politicians really are as they pad and line their pockets further with money from citizens and businesses that don't have it....

I live here in Southern California as well. The state is a basket case, and I'm not sure at what point people wake up and start voting Republican.. I mean, SF is a cess pool as you pointed out, soft (on crime) DAs are pushovers on these crooks and we wonder why crime is out of control, homelessness is off the charts, $20 minimum wage for fast-food workers.....All of these things are caused by the weak , ineffective CA democrat party, ... and here they want Gavin Newsom to be President someday ? We sure have a bunch of idiots, both here in this state and around the country...
