Fact checker snopes found that since Obama's executive order vice presidents have the same power to declassify government documents. But declassifying a document doesn't render it personal as Trump suggests. Nonetheless declassifying is irrelevant in investigations because Trump and Biden must still return all documents to National archives.
Snopes is for Dopes
No doubt you didn't know

Darkhorse12 is right. National security counselors say intent matters significantly in the two different cases. Since Biden cooperates fully with National archives and justice department, his case is more similar to Hillary Clinton's retention of classified material on private emails. Carelessness in handling documents is usually treated lightly by administrative proceedings. Under the law, most of Trump violations don't apply to Biden such as obstruction of justice. Trump is in greater legal peril because of his refusal to return all documents despite repeated requests.

Oh, did Joe smash his phones? Or maybe your just hoping for a similar outcome.
And did Trump refuse to return all documents or did he "inadvertently misplace"some that didnt get returned?
The BIDEN Admin went all out, weaponized law enforcement to get Trump. Had law enforcement leak pictures to the press. Had 60 minutes ask him questions where he got to say SOOOOO IRRESPONSIBLE!!!! Then someone turned on Joe. And not just once but over and over again.
And "INTENT"? SEVERAL FILES FOUND IN PERSONAL LIBRARY, NOT STORED AWAY IN BOXES IN LOCKED CLOSETS OR GARAGES AND NOT SEEING THE LIGHT OF DAY, INTHE HOUSE, IN THE LIBRARY. HE HAD TO HAVE KNOWN. KINDA BLOWS "INTENT" RIGHT OUT THE WINDOW.

(Note; the above link references an AP news release. This release states Biden used the Penn Biden Center from mid-2017 on. The Penn Biden Center did not open until February 8th, 2018. IMO, always expect the AP to embellish the truth. With that.....)
So, lawyers supposedly find top secret documents comingled with other documents at The PennBiden Center on Nov 2nd and call the archives.
Two days later the Archives notifies the Justice Dept.
Again the AP is obviously lying; November-December 2022: Biden’s lawyers search the president’s homes in Wilmington, Delaware, and Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, to see if there are other documents from his vice presidency.
Apparently no other NOVEMBER searches performed. At least NOTHING else was reported found in Nov. And what was found was one document in the garage on Dec 20th by Biden's personal councel. Supposedly the FBI came and retrieved that one document. The FBI did not continue the search at Biden's home. Why not? Had probable cause at that point.
Jan 9th; News release talks about Nov. 2nd documents yet makes no mention of single document found in Biden garage back on Dec 20th.
Jan 10th; Biden himself addresses documents found at PennBiden yet makes no mention of document found in his garage back on Dec 20th.
Jan 11th; Biden lawyers complete their search of Biden home. WTF??? They found a top secret doc on Dec 20th in the garage!! Did they break for Christmas vacation??? They say they found one more top secret doc in Joe's library, report that on Jan 12th.
Jan 14th; White House says Biden lawyers found more top secret docs in Joe's library than previously known. Why, because suddenly they thought maybe someone with clearance to view top secret docs should be the ones looking for them. Really, now? At the end of the search?

Now they think investigations are a waste, LOL, simply can't make it up.
There is a Dem group that stressed to keep repeating the "differences" between the 2 cases. Keep repeating...keep repeating.
No common sense, no ability to make up your own mind. Can't even see the bias in the 'media'. Have no idea the tool they are.
How does anyone know Hunter or Joe hasn't already shown the documents to whoever they needed to and their only incompetence is not returning them properly before anyone found out? The only accident is that these papers didn't get back to where they belonged.
They were, however, taken and found in Joe's possession. How is that possibly any different? How do the fools not even entertain the possibility that Joe didn't have intent. Cause the media said so? How do they know Joe didn't already sell what was on them? Just because you're returning them now after maybe showing or selling to enemies doesn't make it better.
Sad, none of these aholes ever said investigations were a waste while witch hunting Trump, did they?
Roll Joe's head, roll em all
Investigate everyone and everything
waste our time and money
GTH

Misleading to downplay seriousness of Trump's mishandling of government documents. Trump is the subject of a criminal investigation. Evidences show months of hiding documents, refusing to return them, lying about them, inventing false excuses and obstructing investigations. If not for FBI raid, National archives would never have recovered some documents. In contrast, justice department has made no suggestion of a crime in Biden's case. After discovering documents, Biden made no effort to keep them, conceal them and obstruct National archives or justice department. Oddly in double standard, republicans want to investigate Biden but not Trump.

January 20 is the date where upon the VP would be eligible for a 2-term Presidency IF the VP were to assume the role of POTUS.... Biden can resign anytime post Jan 20 giving Kamala the reigns and 2 term eligibility

Let's look BEFORE all this obstruction;
Trump was under criminal investigation in May, 2022, after he was requested by the Archives to return documents and he did so by returning 15 boxes in Jan 2022. Just because some of the documents were labeled classified the Archives notifies DOJ and allows FBI to view those 15 boxes, sort out the classified and pursue criminal investigation.
Joe has classified in very unsecured locations for years. So why has "justice department has made no suggestion of a crime in Biden's case".
Trump was required to produce video security files from Jan 10, 2022 to June 2022. Why hasn't Joe been required to produce video files of his home since 2017?
Trump turned in files, FBI criminal investigation. Biden turns in files, no criminal investigation.
APPLES TO APPLES.

National Archives argued that all documents from Obama administration had been "securely moved" to locations that met "strict archival and security standards."
"Reports that indicate or imply that those Presidential records were in the possession of the former Presidents or their representatives, after they left office, or that the records were housed in substandard conditions, are false and misleading," the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) wrote.

Government watchdog Protect The Public's Trust filed their complaint with the U.S. Office of Government Ethics on Tuesday.
"The American public will not tolerate a two-tiered system of justice – with well-connected insiders subject to a lower standard of scrutiny than the normal citizen," PPT director Mike Chamberlain said. President Biden promised the most ethical and transparent administration in history," Chamberlain said. "If the White House compounded a scandal involving possible mishandling of classified documents by improperly using taxpayer resources for his personal benefit and putting White House attorneys in positions that created conflicts of interest, we could be witnessing a serious betrayal of the public’s already-plummeting trust."

Jimmy Carter chose Ted Sorenson to serve as his CIA director in 1977.
Sorenson had admitted to taking boxes of classified records home with him after leaving the White House in 1964, and using the materials for his work in writing a biography of former President John F. Kennedy. Sorenson's admission to this came in affidavits used in cases involving the Pentagon Papers.
At the time, Biden considered the affidavit and joined with Republicans to block Sorenson from being confirmed by the Senate. Biden also suggested Sorenson may have violated the Espionage Act.
TOO FUNNY.

If you wrote a book on what has transpired it wouldn't sell, too unbelievable.
Wait a week, they'll find more. And why haven't the DOJ/FBI searched the PennBiden Center? If Biden lawyers said search complete at the house over a week ago and FBI find more than how do trust same lawyers who completed the PennBiden Center search?

For decades, missing documents aren't uncommon. National archives is under funded and overwhelmed. . Historically, security experts say far too many documents are over classified when they shouldn't be. Many former presidents probably have classified documents. Unless it can be proven documents are kept intentionally, most cases don't involve criminal investigation. Biden case is different and should have no impact on Trump case which is more serious.

The National Archives said it moved the records of those former presidents to temporary facilities located near future presidential libraries.
"All such temporary facilities met strict archival and security standards, and have been managed and staffed exclusively by NARA employees," the agency said in a statement.
