Covid-19 Good And Bad

CNN is reporting that for the first time in almost two months, 
less than 100,000 Americans are hospitalized for Covid-19.
Sunday, the US reported 95,013 Covid-19 hospitalizations, according to data
from the COVID Tracking Project. And 97,561 patients were hospitalized Saturday.
The last time the number was below 100,000 was December 1.

bad news . even if mortality is down slightly   the fact that infections increase mean more will die anyway

Those multiple new variants are VERY concerning. 

As the virus continues to mutate it could very well reach a stage whereby it is virtually resistant to current vaccines and the ANTIBODIES previously infected survivors may have, and so the whole effing pandemic essentially starts all over again

Gov. Kim Reynolds lifting Iowa's
mask requirements, gathering limits Sunday

Lina Tucker Reinders, executive director of the Iowa Public Health Association,
said Friday evening that Reynolds is lifting the restrictions prematurely.

      "I don't think it's a good idea, to put it bluntly," she said.
      "We're not out of the pandemic yet."

She said although coronavirus test positivity rates have decreased, they could
spike again. As new variants of the virus surface, she said people need to continue 
taking the same recommended precautions they have been to slow the spread.

Health experts have warned that the spread of new coronavirus variants, some of which
appear to be more transmissible, could lead to them becoming predominant
and spur more case surges.

One of the best ways to keep variants from spreading and to prevent more mutations,

The causative agent of the COVID-19 pandemic, SARS-CoV-2, is steadily mutating during continuous transmission among humans. Such mutations can occur in the spike (S) protein that binds to the ACE2 receptor and is cleaved by TMPRSS2. However, whether S mutations affect SARS-CoV-2 cell entry remains unknown. Here, we show that naturally occurring S mutations can reduce or enhance cell entry via ACE2 and TMPRSS2. A SARS-CoV-2 S-pseudotyped lentivirus exhibits substantially lower entry than that of SARS-CoV S. Among S variants, the D614G mutant shows the highest cell entry, as supported by structural and binding analyses. Nevertheless, the D614G mutation does not affect neutralization by antisera against prototypic viruses. Taken together, we conclude that the D614G mutation increases cell entry by acquiring higher affinity to ACE2 while maintaining neutralization susceptibility. Based on these findings, further worldwide surveillance is required to understand SARS-CoV-2 transmissibility among humans.

A way to construct a mask that would meet near hepa standards. Hepa vaccuum use a special filter bags. These block to a 99.97 level. The dry form of the virus is .01 and the filter is useless unless it bonds to a water droplet. Then it size becomes .04 and can be trapped.

Take a hepa filter vaccuum bag and cut the filter to place between a cloth mask and a standard operating mask  the metal band needs to be secured completely around the mask. Then the earlobes loops must be tightened so that it fits snuggly to the face the band allows an extra seal to the face. This will stop particles effectively as your breath has a great deal of moisture to trap virus. 

This design is not perfect but better than a normal cloth face covering. The concern is when the filter clogs. That will cause a loss of air and harder to breath through and will be seen as air will begin to escape from the point of least resistance. And the only way a true seal is achieved is by removal of all facial hair between the edge of the filter.

The normal n95 masks protect an individual but allows air to escape naturally through a valve doing nothing to stop a carrier from spreading the infection....

As for skin exposure well let's nor dwell I to that problem as the virus tentacle feature can literally peach through the pores. This virus is airborne meaning it can be spread by evaporation and rain down in another area. 

The maker of the vaccine head dr. has stated covid is here to stay it is a matter of adapting to live with it. And the mask is a small deterrent from the lung infection but it does literally nothing to stop the skin disease quadrant of the infection. 

Our bodies will need the vaccine and subsequent booster vaccines as new variants emerge that are resistant to the first vaccine....

Experts talk in dire terms about what will happen 
if variants of the virus are allowed to surge this spring.

"I'm very worried we're letting our foot off the brakes," said Atul Gawande,
a surgeon at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and a professor at the
Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

"It's like we're trying our best to help the virus rather than stopping it,"
said Theodora Hatziioannou, a virologist and research associate professor
at the Rockefeller University in New York City.

More contagious variants of the virus have raced across Europe, South Africa and
Latin America. They have all arrived in the U.S., and one first identified in the
United Kingdom is likely to be dominant here by the end of next month,
according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The variants will continue to change and eventually will 
evade vaccines and diagnostic tests  if they keep spreading.

Reports of deaths following vaccination do not necessarily mean vaccines cause deaths.  According to US center for disease control, no evidence of causal link between deaths and vaccines.  Statistically inevitable that some people die for reasons unrelated to vaccination.   Blame preexisting medical conditions or natural causes.  For example, stroke, cancer or heart attack.  Government agencies constantly monitor vaccines to ensure safety.  CDC recommends that people get vaccinated as soon as possible.
