USC Surgical Residents have put their education on hold so they can be taught how to draw blood and learn ICU methods/procedures in local hospitals.

69 NYU medical students will graduate 3 months early and immediately work in the Internal Medicine & Emergency Medicine departments in NYC.

UK's Boris Johnson requested 250k volunteers to assist during the crisis. Almost 500k volunteered.

Governors are bidding against each other, FEMA and other countries when searching for medical supplies. They have asked repeatedly fot the Trump administration to develop a National Supply chain to alleviate this problem.

The Governor of Oregon is the latest to receive expired medical supplies from the federal government. The Governor of Michigan received supplies that supported the biggest hospital in Detroit for one shift at the hospital. Connecticut's largest hospital has enough tests for 3 days and were warned their next medical shipment will ot arrive as scheduled.

28 Governors have closed not essential businesses.  22 other Governors have chosen not to close non essential businesses.

Social distancing seems to be working in certain areas of the country.

Louisiana has the most new cases in the country. Neighbor Alabama is experiencing a shortage of medical supplies while their cases rise. Mississippi which border these two states recently had their Governor rescind the order of local Mayors and towns to close non essential businesses. Mississippi is open for business and owners are ordering employees to return to work. Mississippi reported 108 new cases today.

Unemployment claims for last week rose to 3.3 million. Next week most probably will be worse.

People needing a ventilator have a 50/50 chance of recovering. Those who can't get a ventilator have a 0 chance of recovery. People in NYC have died on gurneys waiting for a ventilator.

Connecticut's Senator Blumenthal has to go in November.

Governors and Mayors will decide when to open their states/cities for regular business again. This decision is not up to Trump or the federal government.

Only 6 states have 100 or less cases of the virus. Thise states include Montana, West Virginia, Wyoming, Nebraska, North and South Dakota.

The Archdiocese of Philadelphia has cancelled Easter Sunday mass as well as the holy week services.

3 Costa Cruise ships are parked out in the Atlantic waiting for approval to dock. However, the Coast Guard was able to rescue 17 crew members who are ill.

Had to mail tax data to our accountant & went to the PO wearing a mask & throwaway gloves.

3 customers were ahead of me & none were wearing protection.

I asked the PO clerks why they weren't wearing masks to protect themselves from the public. They haven't received any from the government was their answer.

I asked if they tried getting them online and the clerk said to me "Sheeet."

There are a total of 75 senior positions in the Department of Homeland Security, 20 are either vacant or filled by “acting” officials, including acting Secretary Chad Wolf. He was the most recent Trump official who struggled under questioning by the U.S. Senate about how many respirators and protective masks were available from the federal government.

Workers at the Department of Veterans Affairs don’t have any experience in disaster response. They failed to prepare for the overwhelming number of cases they would face at VA hospitals. They’re desperately trying to buy medical supplies on Amazon. Senior officials said they have no idea whether they should continue to refuse care and send veterans back into the community for healthcare. They explained that they only learn about updates the news media about what they’re supposed to do.

I tried calling my contact in Michigan to see if I could assist in any way but they are not answering the phone.

    What a national disgrace!

Amazing how the PO clerk would not spend their own money on a mask/masks to protect themselves.

The expectation of the employee for the employer doing everything for them drives me nuts!

Amazing how the PO clerk would not spend their own money on a mask/masks to protect themselves.

The expectation of the employee for the employer doing everything for them drives me nuts!

Masks aren't available for the general public, sundance.  Even hospitals are in short supply if not completely out.  I suggest you go to your nearest drug store and try to obtain them rather than posting that ignorant comment.

A provision for the FDA to approve ""innovative" sunscreens, that happen to be made in Florence, KY, by L'Oreal appeared in the relief bill (I think that is what they are calling it) was championed in the Senate by Moscow Mitch who of course represents Kentucky.

What does he know about the sun? He never comes out of his shell!

Alabama Lieut. Gov: “A tsunami of hospital patients is likely to fall upon Alabama in the not distant future, and it is my opinion that this task force and the state are not taking a realistic view of the numbers or adequately preparing for what awaits us.”

Meanwhile the Governor of Alabama will keep businesses open.

The point made by the clerk dogbite was 'they were not going to spend their own money' to protect themselves from the virus whether there were masks available or not.

Their expectation was for the United States Post Office to provide them with the masks.

On s personal note. I would have tried to get my own masks with my own money and or put up some kind of barrier,/shield to protect the customer from me and to protect me from the customer.

Some young doctors are having to deal with the death of their first patient. I would imagine it has to be a devastating feeling of loss. Doctors must give the news to family members.

Some are getting in touch with their own immortality and writing wills they never really considered preparing.

There is so much pain everywhere. Do something nice for someone.

How many time has President Trump expressed sympathy for those suffering from COVID-19--compared to expressions of pity for himself?

The German Embassy has recommended that all German citizens currently in the US return home as quickly as possible.

Angela knows Trump has lost control of the situation and fears for her residents.

Orleans Parish has the highest per-capita death rate for the coronavirus among all American counties to date, a new analysis by The Times-Picayune | The Advocate shows.

Not good news for all those Mardi Gras folks that have returned home.

If you've even been to Nawlins, you know Bourbon Street can be pretty skeevy.

When the medical community couldn't get supplies from our government & needed personal protection items, they turned to the citizens of the country & their request has galvanized communities across the nation.

NYC's Rikers Island prison now has an infection rate 7 times that of NYC and 87 times the country as a whole.

    EIGHTY-SEVEN TIMES THE US RATE.

    WTF?

Even Liz Cheney is against Trump's plan to re-open America on Easter.

If a Cheney is worried about the number of people that will be killed, you know it's the wrong decision.

    The good:

President Trump will appoint conservative icon and legend Michael Savage to a key position in his administration. Savage has a Masters degree in medical botany and medical anthropology. Savage also earned a PH.D. in ethnomedicine.

This is a great acquisition for the Trump administration. His line on radio was 'language, culture, borders.
