The guy brings up a mass shooting in a school in which a hand gun was used nearly 15 years ago to fit his narrative. You remember what year the mass shooting was at Virginia Tech? I'll help you (2007). What about all the school shootings since then that involved assault rifles? Just going to skip over those? I am form strict gun reform in general, so I am not sure what you are even arguing here. Are you trying to show me that guns aren't a problem? Because if you are, it's a major fail. You just said yourself that only 20% (really 14%) of school shootings involve an assault rifle. It shouldn’t be hard to comprehend that I could find many examples. Is your problem with assault rifles or with guns? You’re not being very clear.
I found 18%, but only 14%??? What happened to your 2% stat?
My problem is with both. Isn't an assault rifle a gun? Shouldn't be too difficult to comprehend. Assault rifles inflict more damage in terms of scale of death in mass shootings.
Keep up. Of course, hand guns can do significant damage too. Again, this is why we need more intense gun regulations. My overall argument.
Mental evaluations for gun purchases, longer waiting periods. Simple mental evals could have prevented the VA tech mass shooting and last week's mass shootings because those gun sales would not have been cleared.

Misleading to blame mental illness for mass shooting because vast majority of mass shooters aren't mentally ill.
Thirdperson tells me the vast majority of mass shooters aren’t mentally ill.
It doesn’t look like your solutions will make any difference other than stopping law abiding citizens from protecting themselves and their family members.

Assault rifles are used in <2% of gun homicides. So you want assault rifles banned. Only the “racist cops” can own them. And you want “intense gun regulations”. Mental evaluations and longer waiting periods. What else? Is that all?
Sounds like you are in immediate need of a mental evaluation.
Where is this "racist cops" comment coming from? I never said anything about cops in this topic thread.
You sir are unhinged and incoherent as usual.

I find it interesting that progressives called cops racist and now think they’re the only people in the country that should be allowed to own assault rifles.
Tell me why you trust cops so much.

This is what's messed up about this post. No normal person who sincerely doesn't want something to befall a person says, "Hopefully this doesn't happen." When someone you care about leaves the house, you don't say, "Hopefully you don't get in a car wreck." These things go without saying, and it's bad ju ju to even put them out there.
When you make a statement like the one made here, what you are really saying, and maybe it's subconsciously, but you're saying, "We don't agree on this particular subject but I bet if tragedy struct you personally, you would see it my way. You'd get your just desserts. You'd learn the hard way." And I'm sorry, but that is fucked up. This is a very small community by social media standards. That 500K number they throw out there is a farce, and even it would be small by social media standards. There's only a handful of us here. So everything said here becomes more pointed. More personal. Why even bring a guy's loved ones up? Why bring up someone's loved ones being "mowed down" because you disagree on policy? Uniman isn't a fucking gun nut. And he's not some alt-right extremist. He's one of the most middle of the pack people on this site. What you said is messed up. If you can't see this, you are messed up. Just speaks to the callousness the internet breeds. I have said things on this site and had to go back and admit that I was wrong and/or out of line but I would never insinuate such a thing.
TIME TO BRING BACK THE OBAMA CAGES!

House Republican Conference Chair Elise Stefanik's campaign committee was criticized last year for an advertisement that said “radical Democrats” were planning a “permanent election insurrection” by granting amnesty to undocumented immigrants who would create a permanent liberal majority in Washington.
Pitcavage says he's concerned about the message Carlson and supporters are sending: “They actually introduce their ‘great replacement theory’ to a conservative audience in an easier-to-swallow pill."
“They actually introduce their ‘great replacement theory’ to a conservative audience in an easier-to-swallow pill."
Not much doubt which way Stefanik leans

Not necessarily. However, we can limit the production of such weapons and create more restrictions for assault rifle ownership. Raising the age to be able to purchase assault rifles to 21 at the federal level like handguns instead of 18 in certain states like Texas is one way to work toward prevention of these shootings. (common sense). How about creating mandatory mental evaluations and longer waiting periods for purchases of all guns?
How about a mandatory gun training program of 12 months for all new potential gun owners? And integrate mental and psychological tests into the training program before you can buy any gun.
There are so many creative options that can be tried in order to reduce gun violence through legally purchased guns. Currently, the government isn't trying anything and the right wants no restrictions, which simply cannot continue.

Why would I Google something that has no real bearing on the point being made? Since you were so insistent though, I did read through your links. Did you? It was fake news. You said, and this is a direct quote, "A murderer in New York gets out on $1 bail." Did you read your own links or did you Google some headlines and post them? The dude didn't get out of anything. He's still in custody. It was a tricky scenario where he's brought in, for local charges but also held of Federal parole violations. With new bail reforms, a defendant can ask for bail to be set, locally, while sitting on the Federal charges, simply so that you are receiving credit for the time you are serving. That bail can be a token denomination, like a dollar. It's not meant for violent crimes, and the judge simply misunderstood the new law. This particular judge didn't even have the authority to set bail in such a case. It was a mistake but not a miscarriage in judgement, as the dude is still in custody. Now, in theory, if the feds decide that one count of murder, and five counts of attempted murder doesn't violate his parole, and the case gets kicked back to local, in theory he could bail out for $1 but you said he was out on $1. And yes, my friend, that is fake news. Don't shoot the messenger.
Point we'll made.

Yeah I don’t know why Bernie, Elizabeth Warren, and Donna Brazille cried about the rigged election. They should have just accepted that the DNC was corrupt.

What is the correlation between voter ID and mass shootings? This should be good. If someone doesn't present an ID in the handful of states that don't require it on election day, does it lead to immediate death? You are a complete tool. deflect, deflect, deflect, bring up an unrelated topic, rinse and repeat.
There should be some compromise. A little give and a little take.
One side wants 21+ for assault rifles, and one side wants voter ID.
If you believe your new law will save lives and saving lives is what your concern is — this deal seems like a no brainer.
