“I am frightened by the impact on society and politics if Elon Musk acquires Twitter. He seems to believe that on social media anything goes. For Democracy to survive, we need more content moderation, not less.”

The fact that journalists are so opposed to Elon Musk buying Twitter because it would promote free speech and challenge Democrat establishment talking points is everything you need to know about the media today.

Jack Dorsey's first tweet NFT goes on sale for 48 million, gets $280 offer. CEO of Bridge Oracle (Sina Estavi) urged Musk to bid on the NFT. "This is not just a tweet. This is the Mona Lisa of the digital world"
Relax. I'm unvaxxed!

National association of colored people has asked Twitter to keep Trump's account suspended. Censorship is inevitable in internet age because of disinformation, hate speech, libel, offensive content and other things on social media. No problem if Twitter board is allowed to do its job. But disturbing that Musk once paid $40 million fine for securities fraud.

Disinformation is in the eyes of the beholder.
Galileo was imprisoned for spreading disinformation that the earth revolved around the sun.
Giordano Bruno said the world was round and was executed for his disinformation by fire.
700 years later we still haven't learned.
Hate speech and offensive content are allowed here.

Libs seem to be flipping out at the thought of losing content control on twitter. I saw a stat that big tech censored over 600 articles critical of Biden over the L2 years.

They site "disinformation" as the reason for blocking content. But in legal docs, those that are censoring are citing articles that are opinion based. Those articles usually trace back from multiple authors so there is no legitimate source of factual information. Legal docs show fakebook and the former twatter along with other big techs "fact checkers" are actually just opinions (of the left).
The left will never admit it because those "fact checkers" more than likely had an influence in the election.
the former twatter shadowbans and hides content that the left doesn't agree with.
I hope Musk follows through, kicks everyone on twatters board off, fires everyone, rehires, and turns the HQ into a homeless shelter.

Every major media outlet (regime propaganda) knew - not suspected, but knew - they were peddling disinformation about the Steele dossier and relayed Russiagate hoaxes.
I agree with you that this disinformation needs to be addressed.

Elon: “The extreme antibody reaction from those who fear free speech says it all By “free speech”, I simply mean that which matches the law. I am against censorship that goes far beyond the law. If people want less free speech, they will ask government to pass laws to that effect. Therefore, going beyond the law is contrary to the will of the people.”
The EU puts Elon Musk on notice over free speech plans for Twitter. "The European Union has put Musk on notice - warning that he faces hefty fines or even a ban if he allows free speech on Twitter." activistpost.com
Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal: "Our role is not to be bound by the first amendment." This POS must be fired. Unfortunately, he's looking a 38.7 million pay package. While Dorsey is getting ~978 million with his 2.4% ownership.
Something really stinks about this IMHO. You have Dorsey now kissing Elon's a$$ after he helped to destroy free speech in America. Now he "trusts Musk's acquisition to take the platform back from Wall Street." And, "Elon is the singular solution I trust. It's the first step in solving the problem of the company." "I trust his mission to extend the light of consciousness. This is also Parag's goal, and why I chose him." Really? He sounds like he's full of shit and this is a red flag that needs to be watched.

A decade ago, Twitter and other social social media companies were havens of free speech. They learned that companies didn't want their ads running against violent threats, misinformation, hate, incitement and abuse. Years later, Twitter worked on becoming a responsible social media company through a moderation system. The fact that Musk wants to change that suggests he is focused on irresponsible social media. Without moderation, problem is that free speech could turn Twitter into a cesspool again according to Center for business and human rights at New York university.
