In the US, there has been over 400 covid deaths among children and thousands of hospitalizations.  Although relatively rare, children covid cases are on the rise since they are unvaccinated.  American academy of pediatrics recommend masks for children over 2 years old in indoor public places.

Hospitals feeling the weight of COVID surge

Forty states are seeing a surge in the average number of new cases
compared to the week before, according to data from Johns Hopkins
University. And the impact can be seen in strained health care systems.

Cases in Mississippi have continued to rise, with the latest data
from the state department of health showing 7,839 new cases
and 52 new deaths in the three days to August 15.

Wisconsin braces for possible health care system crisis as Delta variant surge looms

Wisconsin’s leadership is looking at southern states struggling to contain the Delta variant as forewarning of what could become of their health care system if vaccination numbers remain stagnant.

Julie Willems Van Dijk, Deputy Secretary in the state’s health department, warned at a news conference that Wisconsin could experience a Delta variant crisis similar to the one happening now in Florida.

“With this surge, we’re a few weeks behind our southern states. What we're seeing happen in Florida could happen. Wisconsin has a similar vaccination rate to Florida and COVID-19 cases are reaching an all-time high in Florida, and their healthcare systems are overwhelmed,” Van Dijk said Thursday. “We find ourselves in a situation that we hoped was in the past – we risk our hospital systems being overwhelmed, again, just as they were last November.”

Another Republican anti-vaxxer dies of COVID

(CNN) Phil Valentine, a Nashville-based conservative radio talk show host
who had questioned whether it was necessary for all people to get Covid-19 vaccines,
died on Saturday, his employer, WWTN Radio, announced on Twitter.

Valentine was just 61 years old.

His death comes more than a month after the host first announced he had
been diagnosed with Covid-19.
On his program, Valentine had repeatedly downplayed the importance
of getting a vaccine against the virus, saying last December that he believed
his personal odds of dying from Covid-19 were "probably way less than 1%."

Pentagon activates US airlines

ordered the commander of US Transportation Command to initiate stage one
of its Civil Reserve Air Fleet to assist with flying US citizens, Special Immigrant
Visa applicants and other vulnerable individuals out of Afghanistan.

On her 1st day, N.Y. Gov. Kathy Hochul announces plan to mandate masks and vaccinations in schools

Hours after being sworn in as New York’s first female governor, Kathy Hochul delivered her first address from Albany, laying out an agenda largely focused on combating the coronavirus pandemic.

Hochul said she was ready to take “proactive steps” to curb the rapidly spreading Delta variant of COVID-19, particularly when it comes to reopening schools.

“I am also immediately directing the Department of Health to institute universal masking for anyone entering our schools,” Hochul said.

Vaccination against COVID-19 will be required for all school personnel, she said.
Those who do not wish to be immunized will have the option to undergo weekly testing for the virus, and the state will make tests more widely available in the coming weeks.

And it's getting worse for children as the overall numbers of DELTA continue to soar.

Among Americans of all ages, there are now over 100,000 hospitalized with covid -- which is THREE times higher than July 6.

12 US service members killed
in Kabul airport attack

Twelve members of the US military were killed and 15 more were injured
in the attack at Kabul's airport, Gen. Kenneth "Frank" McKenzie, head of
the US Central Command, said at a briefing.

McKenzie said the attack included two suicide bombers followed by gunmen opening fire.

There were at least two explosions near a gate at the Kabul airport today.

Prior to Thursday, the last America troops killed in Afghanistan were in February 2020.

DOJ sues Texas over six-week abortion ban

(CNN)The Justice Department sued the state of Texas on Thursday over its new six-week abortion ban, saying the state law is unconstitutional.

Announcing the lawsuit at a news conference in Washington, Attorney General Merrick Garland said the Texas law's "unprecedented" design seeks "to prevent women from exercising their constitutional rights by thwarting judicial review for as long as possible."
"The act is clearly unconstitutional under longstanding Supreme Court precedent" Garland said.

Will the candidate that Republicans loved more than any other in the state - who is not only a adolf trump worshipper but said to be even further right of trump  - become the next Governor?

Larry Elder has already claimed BEFORE THE ELECTION that if he loses that means the Democrats cheated and rigged the election.  This in a state where only 25% of the electorate are registered republicans.....this in a state where the popular Newsom is leading by double-digit margins in the majority of polls.

So just like trump, it is simply IMPOSSIBLE for Elder to lose in a fair election with those numbers.....therefore it must be rigged...
